  • Sound & video problem with Toshiba Satellite L35-SP1011

    I've installed Ubuntu 10.04 on a Satellite L35-SP1011 and there's no sound. Actually i have many video problems cause i had to disable effect because when it had effect activated, laptop got frozen many times. I saw this problem but in older ubuntu versions and tried some fixes without success. Any idea on how to solve my audio and video problems? I've tried these instructions https://help.ubuntu.com/community/RadeonDriver without success. Update #2 - Sound SOLVED I edited /etc/modprobe/alsa-base.conf in Ubuntu 10.10 and added options snd-hda-intel model=asus Now i'm working on video, I added xorg-edgers ppa, updated and upgraded without big difference... it's working better but without transparency.

  • Strange Ubuntu Random Display [Video]

    I had this random display issue ever since Ubuntu 11.04 and now running Ubuntu 11.10 and this problem still persist. It is very hard for me to explain, so I uploaded a video to elaborate itself. Before I convert from Windows 7, this issue never happened. The symptom is so random that I cannot reproduce or tell precisely when will this happen again. My wild guess is, should this be related to driver?   • 12.04 wired network doesn't work RTL8111/8168B

    its a fresh 12.04 install 64bits. wifi works fine, wired stays off with cable connected and network-manager shows as if cable is disconnected. Turning off networking lights up my network-cards leds, turning networking on shuts off the leds and no communication is possible. I already tried, turning off the network-manager (sudo service network-manager stop) and setting up my eth0 manually, as soon as I switch off the network-manager my leds light up, but after setting up manually eth0 (sudo ifconfig eth0 10.2.10.114 netmask 255.255.0.0 up) the leds turn off again. I am still dual booting with 10.04 where I have no issues at all, leaving the cable connected all time to my notebook and a switch.     The Direct I/O feature has been available for LDoms customers since LDoms2.0. Apart from the latest SR-IOV feature in LDoms2.2, it is worth noting a few enhancements to the Direct I/O feature. These are: Support for Metis-Q and Metis-E cards. These cards are highly requested for support and are worth mentioning because they are the only combo cards containing both FibreChannel and Ethernet in the same card. With this support, a customer can have both SAN storage and network access with just one card and one PCIe slot assigned to a logical domain. This reduces cost and helps when there are less number of slots in a given platform. The following are the part numbers for these cards. I have tried to put the platforms on which each card is supported, but this information can get quickly outdated.     What is says in the topic: there's a Wireless N access point to which I'd like to connect using the 5 GHz band exclusively. How does one accomplish this? Using the directive band=a in the connection configuration file in /etc/NetworkManager/system-connections doesn't seem to affect anything (/var/log/syslog still shows attempts by wpa_supplicant to connect using the 2.4 GHz band), and running iwconfig wlan0 freq 5G per this question results in the following error: Error for wireless request "Set Frequency" (8B04) : SET failed on device wlan0 ; Invalid argument.     I am using a lenovo S10-3 ideapad; had no problems with earlier version of ubuntu, only since installing 12.04. Have looked through many of the questions on the same issue and tried potential solutions but cannot seem to solve my problem. The hardware switch is in 'on' position and the wireless light comes on very briefly (2-3 sec) when the laptop starts up but then goes off and stays off. Pressing FN+F5 does nothing at all. I'd be grateful for any assistance.   • Can't get NUnit to work in Visual Web Develper 2010 express.

    First off I was wondering whether it's possible to implement a functionality with Nunit where each time a project is created in Visual Web Developer 2010 I get a dialog asking whether I want to create a unit test project for current application like I saw it happen in the older versions of Visual Web Developer. I've tried just about everything to get NUnit 2.5.5 to work in Visual Web Developer 2010. For example, in nunit.exe.config I added under configuration <startup> <requiredRuntime version="v4.0.30319" /> </startup> and under runtime: <loadFromRemoteSources enabled="true" /> I then tried to launch nunit-console.exe in order to specify in the command line the option /framework=net-4.0, but the console would appear and instantly disappear. It didn't help when I tried running it as an administrator. I've also tried using Nunit as an external tool inside the Visual Web Developer by creating a toolbar as described in the following link: http://www.marthijnvandenheuvel.com/2010/06/09/using-nunit-in-visual-studio-2010/. It shows up as an icon in the toolbar. I ran my project called ToyStore and then clicked Nunit icon in order to launch it and it gave me a "System.IO.FileNotFoundException:Assembly not found:ToyStore.dll". So, needless to say, I'm pretty lost and don't know what to do and would greatly appreciate any help in getting Nunit to work.

    Hi, I am currently creating a customer application for a local company. I have a datagridview linked to the customers table, and I am trying to link it up so that updates, inserts and deletions are handled correctly. I am very new to c# so I am starting with the basics (like about 2 days ago I knew nothing - I know vb.net, Java and several other languages though..). Anywho from what I understand anything output through Debug.WriteLine should only appear when in debug mode (common sense really) but anything output through Concole.WriteLine should appear whether or not in debug mode. However I have checked the immediate and output windows and nothing is being output when in normal mode. Does anyone have any idea why this is?? Thanks in advance, Richard

    For a grails application, I need to find a list of objects whose "attr" is one in a dynamic list of strings. The actual HQL query is more complex, but the bit I need help with is this: def result = MyObject.executeQuery("select o from MyObject as o where o.attr in :list", [list: aListOfStrings]) This is obviously not the right syntax, Grails throws it back at me as an "unexpected token", being the :list parameter. Is this possible in HQL? I don't particularly want to use Criteria in this part of the codebase.

    I am working on an enterprise level product that is designed around SQL Express Database ( views,concurrent users,stored procedures,case,IF).Though we dont use any SQL Server advanced features, if the database size of 4Gb in express ends up being a limitation customers can move to advanced versions of SQL Server. However my problem is, SQL Express deployment is not easy and the installer size is huge. This is a major drawback for someone looking to try our product.You dont want end users to not buy a product becos the download is huge. Does anyone have any recommendations of a database that has a smaller footprint but all the features of Express and which can be migrated to express?

  • Why does MS SQL Mgmt Studio Express keep forgetting my passwords?

    I have about had it with this tool, I check the save password box at the login dialogue but it just doesn't work. Sometimes it will for a few days, and then the password will just be gone. Nearly every time I load this thing up I have to track down the password again and type it in. Is there some password rule in the database that would be causing this? This is driving me absolutely crazy.
