  • Handling events from user control containing a WPF textbox

    I've been successful in putting a WPF textbox into an existing windows form using ElementHost and a user control. It looks like the following: Public Class MyUserControl Private _elementHost as ElementHost = New ElementHost Private _wpfTextbox as System.Windows.Controls.Textbox = New System.Windows.Controls.Textbox Public Sub New() Me.Controls.Add(_elementHost) _elementHost.Dock = DockStyle.Fill _elementHost.Child = _wpfTextbox _wpfTextbox.SpellCheck.IsEnabled = True End Sub End Class Now, when I put this user control onto a windows form, it accepts keyboard input and the form itself can get text from the textbox. However, when I try to handle keypress (or keydown, keyup) events from the user control, nothing happens. I've looked into this problem and did a bit of research but now I'm a little confused as to what I really need to be looking at. The following are the topics that I am somewhat confused about. HwndSource Relaxed delegates WPF routed events If I am interpreting everything correctly, input from WPF textboxes are handled differently compared to regular form textboxes. It seems like both aren't compatible with each other but there must be some way to "pass" keys from one to another? I'd appreciate any help.

  • handling NSStream events when using EASession in MonoTouch

    Does anyone have an example of how to handle read and write NSStream events in Monotouch when working with accessories via EASession? It looks like there isn't a strongly typed delegate for this and I'm having trouble figuring out what selectors I need to handle on the delegates of my InputStream and OutputStream and what I actually need to do with each selector in order to properly fill and empty the buffers belonging to the EASession object. Basically, I'm trying to port Apple's EADemo app to Monotouch right now.     I have a system where the employeeId must alway exist unless there is some underlying problem. The way I see it, is that I have two choices to check this code: 1: public void GetEmployee(Employee employee) { bool exists = EmployeeRepository.VerifyIdExists(Employee.Id); if (!exists) { throw new Exception("Id does not exist); } } or 2: public void GetEmployee(Employee employee) { EmployeeRepository.AssertIfNotFound(Employee.Id); } Is option #2 acceptable in the C# language? I like it because it's tidy in that i don't like looking at "throw new Exception("bla bla bla") type messages outsite the class scope.

    This questions is related to java exception, why are there some cases that when an exception thrown the program exits even though the exception was caught and there was no exit() statement? my code looks something like this void bindProxySocket(DefaultHttpClientConnection proxyConnection, String hostName, HttpParams params) { if (!proxyConnection.isOpen()) { Socket socket = null; try { socket = new Socket(hostName, 80); } catch (UnknownHostException e) { e.printStackTrace(); } catch (IOException e) { e.printStackTrace(); } try { proxyConnection.bind(socket, params); } catch(IOException e) { System.err.println ("couldn't bind socket"); e.printStackTrace(); } } } and then I call this method like this: bindProxySocket(proxyConn, hostName, params1); but, the program exits, although I want to handle the exception by doing something else, can it be because I didn't enclose the method call within a try catch clause? what happens if I catch the exception again even though it's already in the method? and what should I do if i want to clean resources only if an exception occurs and otherwise I want to continue with the program? I am guessing in this case I have to include the whole piece of code until I can clean the resources with in a try statement or can I do it in the handle exception statement? some of these questions are on this specific case, but I would like to get a thorough answer to all my questions for future reference. thanks

  • Handling 'session expired' in JSF web application, running in JBoss AS 5

    This question is related to my other question "How to redirect to Login page when Session is expired in Java web application?". Below is what I'm trying to do: I've a JSF web application running on JBoss AS 5 When the user is inactive for, say 15 minutes, I need to log out the user and redirect him to the login page, if he is trying to use the application after the session has expired. So, as suggested in 'JSF Logout and Redirect', I've implemented a filter which checks for the session expired condition and redirects the user to a session-timed-out.jsp page, if the session has expired. I've added SessionExpiryCheckFilter on top of all other filter definitions in web.xml, so that my session expiry check will get the first hit always. Now comes the challenge I'm facing. Since I'm using JBoss AS, when the session expired, JBoss automatically redirects me to the login page (note that the session expiry check filter is not invoked). So, after I log-in, my SessionExpiryCheckFilter intercepts the request, and it sees a session is available. But, it throws the exception javax.faces.application.ViewExpiredException: viewId:/mypage.faces - View /mypage.faces could not be restored. Have anyone faced this issue before? Any ideas to solve this issue?

If it reads a string that it cannot convert to a date, it returns an error. testFunction <- function (date_in) { return(as.Date(date_in)) } testFunction("2010-04-06") # this works fine testFunction("foo") # this returns an error Now, I want to use lapply and apply this function over a list of dates: dates1 = c("2010-04-06", "2010-04-07", "2010-04-08") lapply(dates1, testFunction) # this works fine But if I want to apply the function over a list when one string in the middle of two good dates returns an error, what is the best way to deal with this? dates2 = c("2010-04-06", "foo", "2010-04-08") lapply(dates2, testFunction) I presume that I want a try catch in there, but is there a way to catch the error for the "foo" string whilst asking lapply to continue and read the third date?

  • Elegantly handling constraint violations in EJB/JPA environment?

    I'm working with EJB and JPA on a Glassfish v3 app server. I have an Entity class where I'm forcing one of the fields to be unique with a @Column annotation. @Entity public class MyEntity implements Serializable { private String uniqueName; public MyEntity() { } @Column(unique = true, nullable = false) public String getUniqueName() { return uniqueName; } public void setUniqueName(String uniqueName) { this.uniqueName = uniqueName; } } When I try to persist an object with this field set to a non-unique value I get an exception (as expected) when the transaction managed by the EJB container commits. I have two problems I'd like to solve: 1) The exception I get is the unhelpful "javax.ejb.EJBException: Transaction aborted". If I recursively call getCause() enough times, I eventually reach the more useful "java.sql.SQLIntegrityConstraintViolationException", but this exception is part of the EclipseLink implementation and I'm not really comfortable relying on it's existence. Is there a better way to get detailed error information with JPA? 2) The EJB container insists on logging this error even though I catch it and handle it. Is there a better way to handle this error which will stop Glassfish from cluttering up my logs with useless exception information? Thanks.

At present, I am doing this when the FormClosing event is fired. e.g. private void Foo_FormClosing(object sender, FormClosingEventArgs e) { // Detach radio button event handlers. this.rbLevel1.Click -= new EventHandler(this.RadioButton_CheckedChanged); this.rbLevel2.Click -= new EventHandler(this.RadioButton_CheckedChanged); this.rbLevel3.Click -= new EventHandler(this.RadioButton_CheckedChanged); } However, I have seen some examples where handlers are removed in the Dispose() method.   • Best way to deal with session handling in Zend Framework

    So I'm starting up in Zend framework and looking to implement a site-wide "User" session.... something I can easily access from ALL modules/controllers in the application. I'm like, should I make a new namespace in the library and extend the controller, like: MyLib_Controller_Action extends Zend_Controller_Action { protected $_userSession; function preDispatch(Zend_Controller_Request_Abstract $req) { $this->_userSession = new Zend_Session_Namespace('user'); } } ANd then have all my controllers/modules/etc extend from that? Or should I create a Plugin or what? How would you go about making this plugin to pass the user session to the controller? Or do I do it in the bootstrap?? Again how to pass to controller? Also should I use Zend_Session_Namespace or Zend_Http_Cookie and also how do I encrypt and xss clean the cookie or is that did automagically?

See below: $([elm1, elm2, elm3]).each(function() { this.click(eventHandler); }); I was wondering if there is a way to do this without using the each method and closure. I thought I would be able to do something like: $(elm1, elm2, elm3).click(eventHandler); This kind of statement works using Prototype.js but not in jQuery.The reason I ask the question is because after using both Prototype.js and jQuery I have found that jQuery requires simpler statements to achieve the same tasks in almost every area so I assume there must be a better way of doing this?

    I get an exception (see below) if I try to do resultset.getString("add_date"); for a JDBC connection to a MySQL database containing a DATETIME value of 0000-00-00 00:00:00 (the quasi-null value for DATETIME), even though I'm just trying to get the value as string, not as an object. I got around this by doing SELECT CAST(add_date AS CHAR) as add_date which works, but seems silly... is there a better way to do this? My point is that I just want the raw DATETIME string, so I can parse it myself as is. note: here's where the 0000 comes in: (from http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.0/en/datetime.html) Illegal DATETIME, DATE, or TIMESTAMP values are converted to the “zero” value of the appropriate type ('0000-00-00 00:00:00' or '0000-00-00'). The specific exception is this one: SQLException: Cannot convert value '0000-00-00 00:00:00' from column 5 to TIMESTAMP. How would you recommend me implementing this? Currently using boto logging infrastructre, boto.log.info(...)
