  • Using Nortel Netdirect on Windows 7 64bit

    Does anyone know how to use Nortel Netdirect (Version 7.1.3.0) with Windows 7 64 bit (Home Premium)? There are several ways available to me for connecting, all of which work for me on a 32-bit XP machine: Nortel Contivity VPN client (v6_02.022). The installer appears to be 16-bit, so I can't even install it on a 64-bit machine. Web-based SSL via IE Web-based SSL via Firefox The Web-based SSL process is supposed to load Netdirect and start it up, establishing the VPN connection. Using Firefox, I'm able to authenticate with my smartcard, but when it tries to download the applet, the process stops with a message box saying that it couldn't download the zip file. If I run Firefox in Vista compatibility mode, it gets a little farther, and manages to start Netdirect, but then exits after notifying me that the netdirect adapter was not installed.   • How do I connect two computers with a LAN cabel?

    I have two machines - Windows XP and a laptop using Windows 7. I connected them with a WLAN cable. On the Windows XP machine, I set the IP address to 192.168.0.10. On the Windows 7 laptop, I set the IP address to 192.168.0.20. The laptop can see the Windows XP machine, but Windows XP machine cannot see the Windows 7 machine. But this does NOT concern me. I want to move the files from my desktop (Windows XP) to Windows 7 (laptop). That's why I'm going through all this. The problem is that when I try to connect from Windows 7 to Windows XP machine, I get this window: I don't understand what username/password is needed. I use none on the Windows XP machine. I tried all usernames - no success. Please explain in deep details how to solve my problem so I can connect to my Windows XP machine. EDIT: Maybe this can help: the Windows XP machine is named 'I' and '???????? III' is the name of the laptop. Both computers share one workgroup - WORKGROUP.

An exception is raised when starting this guest machine: Failed to open/create the internal network HostInterfaceNetworking (VERR_SUPDRV_COMPONENT_NOT_FOUND) Result Code: E_FAIL (0x80004005) What resolution is there to this problem for Bridged Adapters in VirtualBox? The solutions attempted: changed Adapter Type to all available choices. No changes. uninstall VirtualBox, reboot host, re-install VirtualBox. No change in behaviour. edited the machine's .xml file, wiping out all <Network> <Adapter> nodes. Had VirtualBox re-create those nodes. No change.     System = Windows 7 64-bit Various programs, notably Regedit, won't start. Instead I get: The Application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000142). Strangly, at least to my thinking, I can launch them via Task Manager. I am also grappling with AVG errors or over-activity, e.g. reports of Broken digital Signature. I am also having problems with Excel Update KB978474 I mention these just incase anyone thinks there is a connection, rather than expecting people to solve 3 problems at once.

    I have a PCG-252L All-in-one desktop. Last week it downloaded some updates, restarted, and even since then is shows nothing but a white screen. I can hear the beeps on startup, screen changes from white to black a couple of times, and then stays white. There's no VGA or HDMI port on the computer, so I can't plug it into the external monitor. Any ideas?

  • IE8 Developer Tools won't open

    Just installed IE8 on WinXP. Trying to use the Dev Tools but, clicking on the menu item or hitting F12 doesn't do anything. I can see the option in the tools menu, just can't use it. I've checked to make sure it wasn't opening minimized or off screen and I've checked the registry settings used to disable them. Those registry keys don't even exists. Suggestions? I was going to reinstall, but, thought I'd check here first.

    Hello All, Using upgrade manager I upgraded my 8.x LTS installation to 10.4. After rebooting the system failed encountered an error and dropped into the recovery console. It appeared to be a problem caused by ureadahead as described here: http://ubuntuguide.net/howto-fix-ureadahead-problem-after-upgrading-to-ubuntu-10-04. So I renamed ureadahead.conf to ureadahead.moved (after remounting the partition rw). this did not help so I renamed the file back again. After rebooting the following error appears: ureadahead terminated with status 5. udev_monitor_new_from_netlink: error getting socket: Invalid Argument mountall:mountall.c:3204 assertion failed in main: udev_monitor = udev_monitor_new_from_netlink(udev,"udev") init: mountall main process (2532) killed by ABRT signal. General error mounting filesystems How will I get my system to boot again properly? thanks

  • freeFTPd and scp/sshfs

    When I connect to freeFTPd using the CLI 'sftp' client from my Ubuntu system, it works find. Unfortunately, that client sucks at downloading whole directory trees. So I tried to use scp and I get "exec request failed on channel 0" So I tried sshfs. I can browse the directory structure, but it lists the files and says they do not exist. The freeFTPd server logs have no useful information.

    Hello, Recently our network was moved to the corporate network and behind the company firewall. Since the i could not access the FTP Servers using Filezilla. I can connect to them but cannot receive the directory listing. Command: MLSD Response: 500 Error: Failed to retrieve directory listing I can access the server using other softwares ( GnomeCommander ) but i would like to use Filezilla for its advanced features. I tried active and pasive mode but that doesnt work. I trace the problem to the MSLD command. I think if i could make filezilla use LIST command it will work. Any ideeas. Thanks.

    On Linux (Gnome desktop) how do you prevent one of the partitions on an external USB drive auto-mounting when it attached to the machine? I don't just want to prevent the Nautilus window from popping up -- I want that partition not to mount. Fiddling with /etc/fstab is not acceptable, as this is a removable drive that is attached to different machines. I seem to remember that you create a hidden file in the root of the file system, but I can't remember what it's called. Something like: touch /media/usbdisk/.no-mount How do you actually make this work?

    I purchased a Swann Home Security DVR system and was hoping for some help on how to duplicate the streaming video on my server. In order to get their web view (streaming video in the browser) to work, I had to install the following plugins: HiDvrPlugin.dmg for mac. Hidvrocx.cab for Windows. I was originally thinking it was a sign of some form of DRM? Maybe. Maybe not. HTML wise, the following code is in the source of the safari version of the web view: <embed pluginspage="SurveilClient.dmg" width="10px" height="10px" type="application/x-scplugin" id="MacDiv" style="height: 592px; width: 720px; left: 278px; top: 61px; "> It seems to be the main display area. Using wireshark, I am able to see that the video stream is on port 9000. However, I have no idea what type of stream it is. I've tried opening it in VLC with no such luck. http://dvr_ip:9000 tcp://dvr_ip:9000 My hope was to do the following to redistribute the feed vlc dvr_ip:9000 --sout h264-version-on-localhost:3000 TLDR; Trying to re-distribute a stream from a security camera (can't tell the format) using vlc (re-distribute via h.264 / HTML5). Not sure how to accomplish this. Is it possible that the software has some type of DRM that only the plugins can decode?
