• Monitor System Resources from the Windows 7 Taskbar

  The problem with most system monitoring apps is that they get covered up with all of your open windows, but you can solve that problem by adding monitoring apps to the Taskbar. Setting Up & Using SuperbarMonitor All of the individual monitors and the .dll files necessary to run them come in a single zip file for your convenience. Simply unzip the contents, add them to an appropriate “Program Files Folder”, and create shortcuts for the monitors that you would like to use on your system. For our example we created shortcuts for all five monitors and set the shortcuts up in their own “Start Menu Folder”. You can see what the five monitors (Battery, CPU, Disk, Memory, & Volume) look like when running…they are visual in appearance without text to clutter up the looks. The monitors use colors (red, green, & yellow) to indicate the amount of resources being used for a particular category. Note: Our system is desktop-based but the “Battery Monitor” was shown for the purposes of demonstration…thus the red color seen here. Hovering the mouse over the “Battery, CPU, Disk, & Memory Monitors” on our system displayed a small blank thumbnail. Note: The “Battery Monitor” may or may not display more when used on your laptop. Going one step further and hovering the mouse over the thumbnails displayed a small blank window. There really is nothing that you will need to worry with outside of watching the color for each individual monitor. Nice and simple! The one monitor with extra features on the thumbnail was the “Volume Monitor”. You can turn the volume down, up, on, or off from here…definitely useful if you have been wanting to hide the “Volume Icon” in the “System Tray”. You can also pin the monitors to your “Taskbar” if desired. Keep in mind that if you do close any of the monitors they will “temporarily” disappear from the “Taskbar” until the next time they are started. Note: If you want the monitors to start with your system each time you will need to add the appropriate shortcuts to the “Startup Sub-menu” in your “Start Menu”. Conclusion If you have been wanting a nice visual way to monitor your system’s resources then SuperbarMonitor is definitely worth trying out.   I want to create a custom ObjectChoiceField, the expected behavior is if the data change then upon leavinge the focus the font color will change. I have succeded in BB OS upto 4.7 but when tested on simulator and on real device with BB OS 5.0 the color won't change. • Optimizing drawing on UITableViewCell

  I am drawing content to a UITableViewCell and it is working well, but I'm trying to understand if there is a better way of doing this. Each cell has the following components: Thumbnail on the left side - could come from server so it is loaded async Title String - variable length so each cell could be different height Timestamp String Gradient background - the gradient goes from the top of the cell to the bottom and is semi-transparent so that background colors shine through with a gloss It currently works well. The drawing occurs as follows: UITableViewController inits/reuses a cell, sets needed data, and calls [cell setNeedsDisplay] The cell has a CALayer for the thumbnail - thumbnailLayer In the cell's drawRect it draws the gradient background and the two strings The cell's drawRect it then calls setIcon - which gets the thumbnail and sets the image as the contents of the thumbnailLayer. If the image is not found locally, it sets a loading image as the contents of the thumbnailLayer and asynchronously gets the thumbnail. Once the thumbnail is received, it is reset by calling setIcon again & resets the thumbnailLayer.contents This all currently works, but using Instruments I see that the thumbnail is compositing with the gradient. I have tried the following to fix this: setting the cell's backgroundView to a view whose drawRect would draw the gradient so that the cell's drawRect could draw the thumbnail and using setNeedsDisplayInRect would allow me to only redraw the thumbnail after it loaded --- but this resulted in the backgroundView's drawing (gradient) covering the cell's drawing (text). I would just draw the thumbnail in the cell's drawRect, but when setNeedsDisplay is called, drawRect will just overlap another image and the loading image may show through. I would clear the rect, but then I would have to redraw the gradient. I would try to draw the gradient in a CAGradientLayer and store a reference to it, so I can quickly redraw it, but I figured I'd have to redraw the gradient if the cell's height changes. Any ideas? I'm sure I'm missing something so any help would be great.

• Creating collaborative whiteboard drawing application

  I have my own drawing program in place, with a variety of "drawing tools" such as Pen, Eraser, Rectangle, Circle, Select, Text etc. It's made with Python and wxPython. Each tool mentioned above is a class, which all have polymorphic methods, such as left_down(), mouse_motion(), hit_test() etc. The program manages a list of all drawn shapes -- when a user has drawn a shape, it's added to the list. This is used to manage undo/redo operations too. So, I have a decent codebase that I can hook collaborative drawing into. Each shape could be changed to know its owner -- the user who drew it, and to only allow delete/move/rescale operations to be performed on shapes owned by one person. I'm just wondering the best way to develop this. One person in the "session" will have to act as the server, I have no money to offer free central servers. Somehow users will need a way to connect to servers, meaning some kind of "discover servers" browser...or something. How do I broadcast changes made to the application? Drawing in realtime and broadcasting a message on each mouse motion event would be costly in terms of performance and things get worse the more users there are at a given time. Any ideas are welcome, I'm not too sure where to begin with developing this (or even how to test it)

But that aren't the colors that I want. So, can anyone help me with this problem? Just to clarify: I want to be able to specify the colors for the text when it's normal, pressed and focused.

• Is it possible to clone system drive in Windows 7?

  My current problem is that my Window 7 system drive is unstable. I would like to try to clone this drive to the same type of disk (OCZ Vertex 2 120GB to OCZ Vertex 2 120GB) and replace the system drive with created clone. My installation doesn't have ProgramData and User profiles on the system drive. Later on (after warranty replacement of problematic drive), I would like to copy ProgramData and User profiles to different disk (Samsung SpinPoint 750GB to OCZ Vertex 2 120GB) and use the new disk instead. Note: data have only few GBs so there should not be any problem with the disk size. Is it possible? What is the best way to do that? Is it better to simply reinstall the system from scratch (I would like to avoid it)?

My local resource files are located on my pc at: C:\inetpub\wwwroot\GlobalX\Input\App_LocalResources Within this folder are my resource files for all the languages that site handles (InputContactDetails.aspx.ro.resx, InputContactDetails.aspx.hi.resx, etc.), as well as the default resource file (InputContactDetails.aspx.resx). • How to write code that communicates with an accelerator in the real address space (real mode)?

  This is a preliminary question for the issue, where I was asked to program a host-accelerator program on an embedded system we are building. The system is comprised of (among the standard peripherals) an ARM core and an accelerator processor. Both processors access the system bus via their bus interfaces, and share the same 32-bit global physical memory space. Both share access to the system's DRAM through the system bus. (The computer concept is similar to Beagleboard/raspberry Pie, but with a specialized accelerator added) The accelerator has its own internal memory (SRAM) which is exposed to the system and occupies a portion of the global address space (as opposed to how a graphics card would talk to teh CPU via a "small" aperture in the system memory space). On the ARM core (the host) we plan on running Ubuntu 12.04. The mode of operation of communicating between the processors should be that the host issues memory transactions on the system bus that are targeted at the accelerator internal memory. As far as my understanding goes, if I write a program for the host that simply writes to the physical address of the accelerator, most chances are that the program will crash due to a segmentation violation. So, I assume that I need some way of communicating with the device in real mode. What is the easiest way to achieve this mode of operation?

• Photoshop CS4. How do I make sure my color stays the same in my different .psd files? (could be RGB

  I asked 2 photoshop experts I know but they haven't got a clue because all my settings are exactly the same, in both files. (except the RGB type !! I'm not sure. Please read on) I use RGB color, 72DPI, 8 bits / channel. No adjustments (filters, like greyscale, etc ...) are selected / used. The layers are both normal, and opacity and fill are 100% (yes, in both files). I took two screenshots, and you can see the difference: http://www.flickr.com/photos/30465871@N05/4623864297/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/30465871@N05/4624469754/ Both colors are ff795d, but that doesn't matter, any color I use gives me the same problem: they both look different. Now, I know the CMYK settings (see screenshots) are different, but when the settings are the same the color changes. Why is this happening and how do I solve this problem? My guess is I'm working with different a type of RGB. It's sRGB IE61966 - 2.1 in the file I created (file info raw data) but I can't find that in the file that started with a screenshot. If that's the problem, how do I change / convert the RGB, once the file is already open? Thank you.

  I am trying to do run a bulk deletion using parameterized queries. Currently, I have the following code: pendingDeletions = new SQLiteCommand(@"DELETE FROM [centres] WHERE [name] = $name", conn); foreach (string name in selected) pendingDeletions.Parameters.AddWithValue("$name", centre.Name); pendingDeletions.ExecuteNonQuery(); However, the value of the parameter seems to be overwritten each time and I end up just removing the last centre. What is the correct way to execute a parameterized query with a list of values?

  I've been messing around with the SQLite Designer in Visual Studio 2008 and I have noticed that when I use the generated Insert/Update statements they run extremely slow. Example: I have a data table with four columns and 5700 rows it took ~5 mins to insert the data into the database table However, I wrote my own database connection and insert methods using parameters and a single transaction and the same 5700 rows were inserted in under 1 second. Why is the generated code so slow and what is benefit to even using it? Thanks. Nathan

Instead of replacing them. I have tried making a breakpoint and checked the parameters, they do have the correct assigned values. So that is not the issue either. I have been tinkering with this a lot now, with no luck, can anyone help? • CALayer flickers when drawing a path

  I am using a CALayer to display a path via drawLayer:inContext delegate method, which resides in the view controller of the view that the layer belongs to. Each time the user moves their finger on the screen the path is updated and the layer is redrawn. However, the drawing doesn't keep up with the touches: there is always a slight lag in displaying the last two points of the path. It also flickers, but only while displaying the last two-three points again. If I just do the drawing in the view's drawRect, it works fine and the drawing is definitely fast enough. Does anyone know why it behaves like this? I suspect it is something to do with the layer buffering, but I couldn't find any documentation about it.

• Automated builds of BizTalk 2009 projects using Team System 2008 Build

  I'm trying to configure automated build of BizTalk 2009 projects using Team Foundation Server 2008. We have a staging server which has BizTalk 2009 installed. I ran the Team Foundation Server Build Setup on this server, and it can build non-BizTalk projects OK. However, BizTalk projects fail to build. I suspected something was amiss when "Deployment" was not a valid build type! I tried copying various things over from a developer PC which has BizTalk and Visual Studio 2008 installed, but still couldn't get it to work. I don't really want to install Visual Studio on the staging server, but without it the "Developer Tools and SDK" option in the BizTalk install is greyed out. I guess I need this in order for BizTalk projects to compile. So, my question is can a BizTalk 2009 server be used as a TFS build agent to build BizTalk projects without having Visual Studio installed. If the answer is no, what's the smallest part of VS that can be installed to get this to work? Thanks in advance.

• Change table view ( tableview style grouped ) background color ?

  Hi all, I am developing an iPad application in which I need a table view ( style grouped ) having background color as clearColor. My problem is [self.tableView setBackgroundColor:[UIColor clearColor]]; works well if the table view style is plain but when I switch to group table view the background color does not changes it stays gray in color. FYI: the contentview background color of tableviewcell also does not change. Is this a bug in iPhone-sdk or I am doing something wrong. Thanks, Madhup
