This kicks automatically in, whenever authorization fails in the application (e.g. when the user tries to get to an area the requires authentication or needs registration). Checking and transforming incoming claims In the claims authentication manager we have to deal with two situations. Users that are authenticated but not registered, and registered (and authenticated) users. Registered users will have claims that come from the application domain, the claims of unregistered users come directly from ACS and get passed through. In both case a claim for the unique user identifier will be generated. That means you need to authenticate before you can register (crazy eh? ;). The controller then fetches some claims from the identity provider (if available) to pre-fill form fields. After successful registration, the user is stored in the local data store and a new session token gets issued. This effectively replaces the ACS claims with application defined claims without requiring the user to re-signin. • Keep coding the wrong way to remain consistent? [closed]

  Possible Duplicate: Code maintenance: keeping a bad pattern when extending new code for being consistent, or not? To keep things simple let's say I am responsible for maintaining two applications, AwesomeApp and BadApp (I am responsible for more and no that is not their actual names). AwesomeApp is a greenfield project I have been working on with other members on my team. It was coded using all the fancy buzzwords, Multilayer, SOA, SOLID, TDD, and so on. It represents the direction we want to go as a team. BadApp is a application that has been around for a long time. The architecture suffers from many sins, namely everything is tightly coupled together and it is not uncommon to get a circular dependency error from the compiler, it is almost impossible to unit test, large classes, duplicate code, and so on. We have a plan to rewrite the application following the standards established by AwesomeApp, but that won't happen for a while. I have to go into BadApp and fix a bug, but after spending months coding what I consider correctly, I really don't want do continue perpetuate bad coding practices. However, the way AwesomeApp is coded is vastly different from the way BadApp is coded. I fear implementing the "correct" way would cause confusion for other developers who have to maintain the application. Question: Is it better to keep coding the wrong way to remain consistent with the rest of the code in the application (knowing it will be replaced) or is it better to code the right way with an understanding it could cause confusion because it is so much different? To give you an example. There is a large class (1000+ lines) with several functions. One of the functions is to calculate a date based on an enumerated value. Currently the function handles all the various calculations. The function relies on no other functionality within the class. It is self contained. I want to break the function into smaller functions (at the very least) and put them into their own classes and hide those classes behind an interface (at the most) and use the factory pattern to instantiate the date classes. If I just broke it out into smaller functions within the class it would follow the existing coding standard. The extra steps are to start following some of the SOLID principles.

  I want to build a web application for generating stylish PDF documents. The layout should be based on a design templates and the data should come dynamically from the database. Ideally I want to design the template in a "publishing like" tool with placeholders and replace these placeholders by the web application with the data from the database. Think of something like an invoice generator, where a customer could choose from different invoice templates and the invoice data itself coming from the DB. Thanks for your ideas!

• Why am I asked for default's keyring at startup?

  I'm prompted for default's keyring at every boot since 11.10 upgrade, even though I don't see any application I have needing at startup (I have no wifi, and disabled gwibber-service) How can I know which application is requesting it ? How can I disable it ? • xubuntu app menu on wrong side of screen

  I am using Xubuntu 12.04, with a dual monitor setup (with the nvidia driver xinerama enabled). The top panel is spanned acros the two monitors. This works quite fine, except for one thing. When I click the little Application Menu button on my left screen, the application menu opens on the top right corner of the left screen. This is quite annoying, I fiddled in the panel prefs but could not fix this. Any thoughts?

• Difference between a socket and a port

  Could someone please explain quite clearly the difference between a port and a socket. I know that a port serves as a door into the network for an application process and that the application process uses a socket connection to the given port number to handle network communication but when you have multiple processes listening on a single port number, I am finding it difficult to understand the difference between the socket and the port and how they all fit together.

• JSP Model 2 Architecture and Dependency Injection

  If I'm writing a web application that uses the model 2 architecture, is it possible to use the Google Guice framework (or really any IoC container)? The reason I ask this question is because everything I've researched about DI, IoC, et cetera always uses Spring, Hibernate or some other framework/container in their examples. I'm just using Java classes, controllers, and JSP's to build this application and I can't find any good documentation about the subject.

• Is there going to be a friendly Unity settings window?

  Currently, as far as I am aware, you need to use the CompizConfig Settings Manager application to play with the Unity configuration settings. While this makes sense, from a technical point of view, it requires the user to know about the settings manager, install it, and then find the Unity options within it. Not very user friendly. Is there a user friendly configuration application planned that will offer all the configuration options in an easy-to-use for new people fashion?

• Why all of my ports are not open or reachable? how can i open them

  I was testing the ports because WoW(3724 TCP 6112 TCP 6881-6999 TCP) couldn't connect to the internet so i downloaded PFPortChecker application and run it using Wine(1.3) and after i tried to check every port it seems like it's not reachable/closed why is that? my firewall is off so why is this happening? how can i open these ports? and how can i see if these ports are opened or not and the important thing is how can i know which application is using them
