  • VB.NET GroupBy LINQ statement

    I am having a bear of a time getting this to work. I have a List(Of MyItem) called Items that have a OrderId property on them. From those items, I want to create a list of Orders. Some items will have the same OrderId so I want to try to group by OrderId. I then want to sort by date. Here's what I have so far: Public ReadOnly Property AllOrders() As List(Of Order) Get Return Items.Select(Function(i As MyItem) New Order(i.OrderID)) _ .GroupBy(Function(o As Order) New Order(o.OrderID)) _ .OrderBy(Function(o As Order) o.DateOrdered).ToList End Get End Property This, of course, doesn't compile, and I get the error: Value of type 'System.Collections.Generic.List(Of System.Linq.IGrouping(Of Order, Order))' cannot be converted to 'System.Collections.Generic.List(Of Order))' I've bolded the part where I think the problem is, but I have no idea how to fix it. Also, it used to work fine (except there were duplicate values) before I added the .GroupBy statement. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks

  • Dispatcher.Invoke not working in .NET 3.0 SP1

    I am developing a WPF windows application and am getting into a trouble running the app in .NET 3.0. Everytime that I try to access the System.Windows.Threading.Dispatcher.Invoke() method, I get a method-not-found error. Basically, I spawn a new thread from the main thread and try to change some UI properties (basically update a progress-bar) from the new thread using the following code: updateStatusDelegate usd = new updateStatusDelegate(progressBar.SetValue); Dispatcher.Invoke(usd, System.Windows.Threading.DispatcherPriority.Background, new object[] { System.Windows.Controls.ProgressBar.ValueProperty, Convert.ToDouble(perc) }); Can someone help me understand why do I encounter this error in .NET 3.0 version? I am able to get this going in .NET 3.0 SP2. But I guess .NET is not distributed independantly and is packaged only with .NET 3.5 version. My goal is to get away with the dependancy of .net 3.5 and have a dependancy on .NET 3.0 version Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Kapil

  • Core i7 on linux loses its multithreading capability after suspend

    On my debian-linux system, with a core i7 920 , each time I resume after the command "pm-suspend" (suspend to RAM), mutlithreading capabilities almost disappear. More specifically, two distinct programs can use 2 distinct cores at full rate, but a single program is limited to only one core (for one instance of a multithreaded program as well as multiple instances of a monothreaded program, e.g. "make -j 4" for gcc). So I end up rebooting the system. Any help appreciated!

    Hi all, I'd like to know if there is a way for a user account to be enabled or elevated to carry out system admin tasks WITHOUT having to use the root account or sudo. Goal here is to allow a user account to Add/Delete users/printers without giving them the 'God' powers that the root account carries, in a way setting up a restricted system admin essentially. Not sure if there is a way of doing this as most just use root to my understanding.

  • Help with force close occurrences in my app

    This is the last issue with this app. Periodic force close situations. I think something should be on another thread but I'm not sure what. Anyway, I can always count on a freeze on first install. If I wait, eventually (maybe 10 seconds) the app comes around, maybe more. here is an excerpt from logcat--the three lines occur after full layout is displayed and I attempt to touch a [game] 'peg' which should spawn a sprite, but the freeze occurs there.     Should I use cassandra in 100,000 users project ? In mysql 5 have full text search and partition table. I'm starting to make Question and answer system like stackoverflow with CodeIgniter. It's move from vbulletin to new system. In old vbulletin have around 100,000 users and total post is around 80,000. In next 3 or 4 year, users and posts will be more and more. So, Should I use cassandra instead of mysql 5 ? If I use cassandra, I need to change gridserver in mediatemple to DV server in mediatemple. Cassandra is not built in hosting system. So, I must use VPS or DV server. If I use mysql 5, hosting is not problem but how about speed and search. Btw, What database using in Stack Over ?

    Hi, I'm porting an application with EJBs 2.1 from Weblogic9 to JBoss AS5. I have made some of the changes like adding jboss.xml descriptors to EJBs and fixing application.xml of the EAR, but there are still problems when deploying the EAR.     Answer: Parts of the hard drive are corrupted. All of my user's code was checked in, so I'm just going to format the box. One of my users has an HP DV5-1235dx laptop running Windows Vista Professional x64. Last night, our WSUS server pushed out a few updates including "Security Update for Windows Vista for x64-based Systems (KB960859)". When we try to boot the laptop today, a black screen with white text comes up displaying: xxx/169894 (something) Where xxx increments rapidly and something is some dll or registry key. Eventually that stops and the screen displays !! 0xc01a00d !! 35566/169894 (\Registry\Machine\COMPONENTS\DerivedDat...) No other computers that received this update are displaying the same error. So far I've tried running CHKDSK off of HBCD. It repaired a thing or two, but the computer still doesn't boot. I tried repairing the Windows install from the Vista CD, but I get a black screen with white text displaying something along the lines of: 0 No Emulation System Type 00 1 No Emulation System Type 00 Select one of the above Booting in Last Known Good Configuration doesn't work. Booting in Safe Mode freezes at Loading Windows Files [snip] Loaded: \windows\system32\drivers\crcdisk.sys Please wait... My next step is trying to boot Safe Mode with Command Prompt and try to run rstrui.exe. While I do that, does anybody have any guidance? Edit: Booting into Safe Mode with Command Prompt will not work. See Booting in Safe Mode above. Edit 2: I managed to boot from the Vista DVD.     On Linux systems, you can successfully chmod u+s $some_directory, but instead of forcing the ownership of new subdirectories and files to be the owner of the containing directory (and setting subdirectories u+s as well) as you might expect, the system just ignores the setuid bit. Subdirectories and files continue to inherit the UIDs of their creating processes, and subdirectories are not setuid by default. Why is setuid ignored on directories, and how can I get the system to recognize it?

    Hi, Im being a bit lazy in NHibernate and using Session.CreateSqlQuery(...) instead of doing the whole thing with Lambda's. Anyway what struct me is that there seems to be a problem converting some of the types returned from (in this case the MySQL) DB into native .Net tyes. The query in question looks like this.... IList<Client> allocatableClients = Session.CreateSQLQuery( "select clients.id as Id, clients.name as Name, clients.customercode as CustomerCode, clients.superclient as SuperClient, clients.clienttypeid as ClientType " + ... ... .SetResultTransformer(new NHibernate.Transform.AliasToBeanResultTransformer(typeof(Client))).List<Client>(); The type in the database of SuperClient is a bit(1) and in the Client object the type is a bool. The error received is: System.ArgumentException: Object of type 'System.UInt64' cannot be converted to type 'System.Boolean'. It seems strange that this conversion cannot be completed.     I'm trying to monitor CPU utilization of windows 7 32bit PC (C2D E8400) using zabbix. I tried both "perf_counter[\Processor Information(_Total)\% Processor Time]" and "system.cpu.util[,system,avg5]". After some time status of these items reverted itself to "Unsupported". Is this problem on agent side, or at server? How to fix it? Ideally I want to see percentages load per each core. UPD: topic and description updated.

    Hi There, I'm working with a WCF service in Azure, which uses Windows Live ID authentication with the recent deviceid requirements. When I host my WCF service locally in the compute emulator, it works properly, but when I deploy the cloud service to Azure and call it the same way (from another project that uses the WCF service as a service reference), I get the error: Could not load file or assembly 'Microsoft.IdentityModel, Version=3.5.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified. I found this post : http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/netservices/thread/cd139b5c-ad12-4298-af2f-1b2d0136a977 But there are a few problems: 1. I don't seem to have access to Microsoft.IdentityModel, only System.IdentityModel. I'm not sure why it's searching for something in 3.5 at all, as I'm building in .NET 4.0. 2. When I choose to "copy to local" on System.IdentityModel, it doesn't change anything. Any help? I would appreciate it! Best Regards, Andy
