    I found the following code somewhere, but I am not understanding the code properly. ArticleVote.submitVote('no');return false; Is ArticleVote a class and submitVote() a function of that class? Or what does the above code mean? And is there any concept of classes and objects in jQuery or in traditional JavaScript? How to create them? Please share some reference links or code.

    I'm trying to post to a website from a Processing Sketch. (Processing is basically Java running in a fancy environment). I'm using this library : http://libraries.seltar.org/postToWeb/ but I don't know if that makes a difference. You can see from the stack trace below that this is just a wrapper for the Java standard library. Anyway, the important point is that the host "mysite.com" is up and running. I am seeing it from the browser. But when I try to post to it from Java I just get the UnknownHostException appearing. Given that the site is up. What else might this mean?     Mhh, kinda hard to explain with my poor english ;) So, lets say I have an image, doesnt matter what kind of (gif, jpg, png) with 200x200 pixel size (total area 40000 pixels) This image have a background, that can be trasparent, or every color (but i know the background-color in advance). Lets say that in the middle of this image, there is a picture (for keep the example simple lets suppose is a square drawn), of 100x100 pixels (total area 10000 pixels). I need to know the area percentage that the small square fill inside the image. So, in i know the full image size and the background-color, there is a way in php/python to scan the image and retrieve that (in short, counting the pixel that are different from the given background)? In the above example, the result should be 25%

    I've inherited a multi-technology project which comprises a Flash user interface contained in a web-browser-like host and has an ASP.NET piece which provides web services to the Flash UI, background/watchdog services plus a web application for administration of the system. Our transatlantic project conference calls are getting confusing due to the various terms people use to describe the ASP.NET piece. Indeed, ASP.NET has its' own project terminology including 'Web Site' and 'Web Application' to both of which one can add a 'Web Service'. Is there any commonly-used name for this ASP.NET multi-purpose project piece?

I dont have access to the provider environment so I cannot use any config files (Cxf.xml, cxfservlet.xml etc..). I need to access the webservice with implicit security header (UsernameTokenType, oasis-200401-wss-wssecurity-secext-1.0.xsd) . Can anyone throw some light on this?..

  • Google Chrome and (cache or memory leaks).

    Hello All, I have a big problem with Google Chrome and its memory. My app is displaying to user several image charts and reloads them every 10s. In the interval i have code like that var image = new Image(); var src = 'myurl/image'+new Date().getTime(); image.onload = function() { document.getElementById('myimage').src = src; image.onload = image.onabort = image.onerror = null; } image.src = src; So i have no memory leaks in Firefox and IE. Here the response headers for images Server Apache-Coyote/1.1 Vary * Cache-Control no-store (// I try no-cache, must-revalidate and so on here) Content-Type image/png Content-Length 11131 Date Mon, 31 May 2010 14:00:28 GMT Vary * taken from here In about:cache page there is no my cached images. If i enable purge-memory-button for chrome (--purge-memory-button parameter) it`s not help. Images is in PNG24. So i think that the problem is not in cache. May be Google Chrome is not releasing memory for old images. Please help. Any suggestions. Thanks.

  • RoR app running on mongrel development but not production

    Hello all, This is my first stab at Ruby on Rails. Just deployed a very simple app to Heroku. The thing is that my app runs flawlessly on mongrel development; When I run it with "mongrel_rails start -e production" however, I get the error "We're sorry, but something went wrong." For the life of me, I couldn't debug this. Heroku logs is not returning anything, the Exceptional addon in Heroku is not returning anything, and I cannot find mongrel.log on my Windows machine (when I run mongrel using: mongrel_rails start -e production -d" I'm using Rails 2.3.5 and sqlite3 with bundler to pack my gems. I was told that probably rails is not booting up correctly. I can't find any other way to diagnose this. Any ideas? Thanks, ANaimi

    I was looking at the amazon website and was wondering how one of the feature would have been implemented. The feature : what customers buy after viewing a particular item. If i were to develop such a feature i would probably generate a session id for each user session and store the session id-page id combination in a log file. and if a book is bought set a separate flag for the session id-page id. A separate program can then be run on the log file periodically, to identify the groups that were bought together/viewed together and that information can be stored in a persistent file. This is ofcourse a simple solution without taking into consideration the distributed nature of the servers - but would this suffice or can you help me identify a better design.

  • How to upload binary (audio) data from a Flash AS3 client to .NET server (WCF/REST/HTTP/?)?

    Simply stated: I'm trying to record audio in a browser, and get that data back up to the server. I originally tried to capture, encode and upload the audio using Silverlight, but because of the lack of suitable client-side encoding options, I'm now giving Flash a shot (Flash has baked-in support for encoding to Speex). I think I've figured out how to capture and encode the audio... But now what was easy in Silverlight, is the challenge in Flash. My server-side is .NET: MVC2- I'm open to receiving the audio in whatever manner is best- REST, WCF.. So that's my question: How could one upload binary data from Flash, to a .NET server-side endpoint. If the answer is WCF: then how would one setup the client-side proxies to communicate with the service? If the answer is REST or HTTP Post, then how would one construct this HTTP request and pass along the data? I've been reading up on AS3, but am new to Flash dev... Thanks for any help!

  • When to databind data-bound controls?

    Hi, i have little dilemma, i often use data-bound controls such as Gridview in conjunction with ObjectDataSource. But i have two possible options when can i bind data to Gridview. The first is that i set datasourceid of gridview in aspx file and databind occurs in a moment before PreRender event occurs or i can set datasource in Page_Load event and databinding occurs immediately, something like this: protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { if (!IsPostBack) { testGridView.DataSource = testObjectDataSource.Select(); testGridView.DataBind(); } } I think that in second approach i have more control above databinding. But how it is in real programming life? Which of the above two options is commonly used? Or is there some third option how can i bind data to data-bound control?
