• Hosted Mac OS X/iPhone development

  I want to try my hand at developing for the iPhone but I don't have an Intel-based Mac available to me; likewise, my budget doesn't include provisions for getting one anytime soon. I've tried messing around with winchain and that hasn't gone too well. I'm not interested in jail-breaking my phone and installing other tools for developing. I've read posts on using older macs with the development tool-kit but haven't tried it yet. In the end I just want to know I can compile without doing a ton of extra work or finding work-arounds. I don't mind only having access to a CLI compiler. Does anyone know of a hosting service that provides a shell access account on Intel-based Mac OS X machines?

• PHP Filter, how to filter input array

  I am using PHP filter to perfom basic sanitization and validation of form data. The principle problem I am having is that I mark my form up so that all the data is in one array for the POST input. e.g. form fields, page[name], page[slug], page[body], page[status], etc. Using the following: filter_input(INPUT_POST, 'page[name]', FILTER_SANITIZE_STRING); OR filter_input(INPUT_POST, "page['name']", FILTER_SANITIZE_STRING); I am unable to access the variable. Can someone please tell me the correct name to use to access array data using filter_input()

• How do I unescape HTML entities in a string in Python 3.1?

  I have looked all around and only found solutions for python 2.6 and earlier, NOTHING on how to do this in python 3.X. (I only have access to Win7 box.) I HAVE to be able to do this in 3.1 and preferably without external libraries. Currently, I have httplib2 installed and access to command-prompt curl (that's how I'm getting the source code for pages). Unfortunately, curl does not decode html entities, as far as I know, I couldn't find a command to decode it in the documentation. YES, I've tried to get Beautiful Soup to work, MANY TIMES without success in 3.X. If you could provide EXPLICIT instructions on how to get it to work in python 3 in MS Windows environment, I would be very grateful. So, to be clear, I need to turn strings like this: Suzy &amp; John into a string like this: "Suzy & John".

• How can I set PivotField.Calculation in Excel/VSTO?

  I'm trying to set the Calculation property on an OLAP PivotField with VSTO 3.0. For example: pivotField.Calculation = XlPivotFieldCalculation.PercentOf; If I do the above, the value I assign does not stay (Excel appears to revert the change). I suspect the reason is that the BaseField property of the PivotField also needs to be populated (as PercentOf needs a BaseField). But it appears to me that you can't set the BaseField property until you've set the Calculation property (otherwise you get a COMException). I've tried to set ManualUpdate on the PivotTable to true, but with VSTO this rarely works, as this gets reverted immediately back to false. Note, that this seems to work fine in VBA as you can assign multiple values in a single statement, like this: With ActiveSheet.PivotTables("PivotTable1").PivotFields("[Measures].[Reseller Sales Amount]") .Calculation = xlPercentOf .BaseField = "[Geography].[Geography].[Country]" .BaseItem = "[Geography].[Geography].[Country].&[France]" .NumberFormat = "0.00%" End With But with C#/VSTO there's no construct like this (that I know of) and I'm stuck not able to do something like the above. Further note, Calculation values that don't require a BaseField, e.g., XlPivotFieldCalculation.xlPercentOfTotal, get set just fine. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated!

  I recently read Scott Chacon's post "Smart HTTP Transport", and I was hoping that it might have become possible via IIS (windows 7) since that post was written. I haven't been able to find anything showing how it can be done, and Apache is not an option in my IIS 7 based environment. So, I'm at a loss (git daemon was foiled for me by a combination of AVG anti-virus and AD). I want to provide LDAP authenticated read/write access for selected users. So this question seems not to be relevant. Do you know of a way to provide access to GIT via IIS?

• Calling a native callback from managed .NET code (when loading the managed code using COM)

  Hi, I am really confused by the multitude of misinformation about native / managed interop. I have a C++ exe which is NOT built using CLR stuff (it is not Managed C++ or C++/CLI and never will be). I would like to access some code I have in a C# assembly. I can access the C# assembly using COM. However, when my C# code detects an event I would like it to call back into my C++ code. The C++ function pointer to call back into will be provided at runtime. Note that the C++ function pointer is a function found in the exe's execution environment. I don't want the managed code to try and load up some DLL to call a function (there is no DLL). How do I pass this C++ function pointer to my C# code through .NET and have my C# code successfully call it? Thanks!

  I am working on a custom web part for Project Web Access, for Project Server 2007. We are so far using PSI web services only to read and write data from and to Project Server 2007 databases. But there is a signinficant performance issue when you retrieve time phased data through Statusing web service, it is basically an expensive call for querying time phased data for each tasks. I want to access Time phased data entered by user for each tasks by directly hitting the Project Server Database. [ I do not want the solution suggested at this link : http://blogs.msdn.com/project_programmability/archive/2007/05/24/getting-at-the-task-time-phased-data.aspx as it reads data from reporting database which gets entry only after the project is published. ] I want to get time phased data as soon as user enters it. I went through the w3c specification, books and tutorials on the same, but still I am a bit unclear about certain concepts: Assume that I access Website A. Some JavaScript runs in my browser that sets a key value pair, say ('username','deepak'). Then I access Website B which also adds a key,value pair in the localstorage as ('username','mahalingam'). How will they both be differentiated? Will Website B override the value set by website A in my localstorage? How can we ensure that a website would not erase all of my localstorage?

Let's presume i have this code: $url = 'http://www.google.com' $fields = array('q'=>'search term'); //maybe some other arguments. but let's keep it simple. $curl = new Curl(); $page = $curl->post($url,$fields); $page will have some images wich curl doesn't load them by default. I need to know how i can save a specific image without using curl. Once I use $page = $curl-post(..) I need to know how I can have that image saved without using another $curl-post(_image_location_) to get that file. The reason why need this is to save a captcha image from a form. I need to access the form and get that specific image that's being loaded. If i try to access the URL of the image, it will be a different captcha image.

• ASP.NET Web Service Throws 401 (unauthorized) Error

  Hi Experts, I have this .NET application to be run in an intranet environment. It is configured so that it requires Windows Authentication before you can access the website (Anonymous access is disabled). This website calls a web service (enable anonymous access) and the web service calls the DB. We do have a token-based authentication between the web application and the web service to secure the communication between them. The issue I'm facing is that when I deploy this to production, I'm having an intermittent issue whereby the communication between the web application and the web service failed. The 401 issue was thrown. This is actually working fine in our QA environment. Is this an issue with Active Directory? Or could it be an isssue with FQDN as mentioned here: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;896861? The weirdest thing is that this is happening intermittently when tested in both on the server itself and a remote workstation in my client's environment. But, this is working perfectly in my environment. OS: Windows Server SP1 IIS 6 .NET 3.5 Framework Any idea about the 401 (Unauthorized) issue?? Thx for the help... This is from the log...   I'd like to be able to control the system microphone volume from the browser. I know that the microphone can be recorded from using Flash or Silverlight, but these don't allow control of the microphone volume. (Flash has Microphone.gain, but as its just a software multiplier, it doesn't help when the system mic volume is muted or too loud.) I've heard that HTML5 will have some sort of microphone access, but whether it will allow volume control is unclear to me. At any rate, I don't think any browsers support it yet. Are there any plugins that would allow volume control? The old Google Gears project has some AudioApi docs, though these don't seem to have made it into the actual plugin. There's also the Google Talk plugin- it seems to do some kind of gain control, but its unclear if there's an api to the plugin. Perhaps there's a draft HTML5 implementation plugin for microphone access (like indexeddb, for example)?

  I apologize if this has already been answered, but all the information out there on Facebook publishing is so confusing and conflicting, I haven't been able to get anything to work yet. I'm trying to set up an application that runs on my local server to publish content to my organization's fan page (this will tie in with my WCMS to cross-post content). I believe I want a Facebook Connect application to do this which I've set up properly in Facebook and gotten an application key and secret. Here's the code I'm trying to execute, but each time it's run I get "User has not authorized access" even if I'm just trying to publish to the application wall. But my consoleapp crashs when i call the cgi script. So i did a little debuging and write a text file after some actions i do in my .net program. The result was that my programm crash everytime i'd like to open a access mdb file. It told me that i need the Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC). But i cant belive this message because my .net consoleapp runs without errors if i start it from my own. So can anybody give me some advise how i can call my .net consol ab through a webscript. I'm happy for every advise So it don't have to be a solution using a cgi script. Regards, Nico

"403 Forbidden - No projects found" is reported when I access gitweb through "http://localhost/cgi-bin/gitweb.cgi" I checked the projects.list file it is empty, is that the reason why gitweb access failed? what would be the correct content? can i add it manually?

• Tomcat cookies not working via my ProxyPass VirtualHost

  Hi there. I'm having some issues with getting cookies to work when using a ProxyPass to redirect traffic on port 80 to a web-application hosted via Tomcat. My motivation for enabling cookies is to get rid of the "jsessionid=" parameter that is appended to the URLs. I've enabled cookies in my context.xml in META-INF/ for my web application. When I access the webapplication via http://url:8080/webapp it works as expected, the jsessionid parameter is not visible in the URL, instead it's stored in a cookie. When accessing my website via an apache2 virtualhost the cookies doesn't seem to work because now "jsessionid" is being appended to the URLs. How can I solve this issue?   Hi all, I would like to implement a application which backs up all the internal datas like sms, mms, videos, audios, documents, call history stored in iPhone. But this seems to be not possible with api docs that the apple has released so far ... I have gone through the pdf of ENterprise distribution program and some of the links related to Enterprise Distribution Program, specifies about the Remote wipe and accessing of internal datas like Calendar, sms, mms ect .... But they didnt mention how to do it programmatically. Does Apple provide any special priviledges like extra api support to access the internal data in their Enterprise Distribution Program?. Is there any difference between Enterprise Distribution Program and Standard Distribution Program in the development point of view? And since in-house distribution does not require Apple approval, shall we use some other method which are not officially mentioned in apple docs, to access the internal stored data ..   I have a Windows Service that does the following when started. When running via a Console application it works fine, but once I put in a Windows Service I get the below exception.   I have implement Form Authentication <location path="Admin"> <system.web> <authorization> <deny users="?"/> <allow roles="Admin" /> <deny roles="systemAdmin"/> </authorization> </system.web> </location> Since in above mentioned rights, Admin can have access to Admin folder and systemAdmin can't have. I have make custom Accessdenied page where I am showing message to user he has not permission to access this page Now the issue is, If systemAdmin try to hit Admin folder page, he will be redirected to AccessDenied.apsx page. (please Note: both user are authenticated, 1 user have permission to some folder and other user have permission to other folder. I don't want to put check in each page) where to specify accessdenied page redirection ? Thanks

  I'm bit vague about how to start using the shiro plugin, after reading few documents. I decided against Nimble, as it comes with few tables and UI plugins. I setup shiro plugin with wildcard realm, with my own tables. I may use permission based (rather tan role based) access control as it scales well. Now, the steps for it. assign the permission string to the subject, and save it in the db check the permission through isPermitted, hasPermission (or relevant tags in GSP). Now, 1. when to use the accesscontrol through filter? 2. is there a closure injected into the controller where I can define the permission for the actions in it? 3. How do I create a typical access control scenario like only the creator of (something, a post etc) can delete it? thanks a lot.. Babu.
