  • Programming powering off and powering on in one single OnClick function on android

    I would like to write an activity that after clicking on a button turns off the screen and then turns it back on after 2 secs. I tried using the following code in order to power off the screen: WindowManager.LayoutParams lp = getWindow().getAttributes(); lp.screenBrightness = 0/(float)255; getWindow().setAttributes(lp); But it would only take effect when then onClick function returns. I tried running it into a handler but with no success. I need to find a way to force the setting to get applied before the function returns so that I can call the power on function 2 secs later on the same onClick call. I also found it very hard to wakeup the device afterwards. While this code works if I power off the screen using the physical button it doesn't seem to work when the phone is powered off using the technique described previously.   • One-to-many Associations Empty Columns Issue (Ext on Rails)

    I'm playing with rewriting part of a web application in Rails + Ext. However, I'm having trouble getting an associated models' name to display in the grid view. I've been able to successfully convert several models and arrange the views nicely using tabs and Ext's layout helpers. However, I'm in the middle of setting up an association -- I've followed along with Jon Barket's tutorial on how to do this using Ext -- and I've made all the Rails and JS changes suggested (with appropriate name changes for my models,) the result being that the combo box is now being correctly populated with the names of the associated models, and changes are actually written correctly to database, BUT the data doesn't show up in the column, it's just empty. However, the correct data is there in the 'detail' view. Really just wondering if anyone else ran into this, or had any thoughts on what could be happening. Definitely willing to post code if requested; just note that (AFAIK) my changes follow the tutorial pretty closely. Thanks in advance! UPDATE: Alright, slight progress - kind of. I can get the associated model id # displaying properly -- just by modifying the column model slightly. But I can't get the virtual attribute displayed in the main table (in Jon's example it's country_name.) It still goes blank when I change the data source for that column from dataIndex: 'model[associated_model_id]' to dataIndex: 'virtual_attributes[associated_model_name]' ANOTHER UPDATE: Bump. Has NOBODY here tried integrating Ext with Rails?

    Hi, I'm working on a media player and am able to load in a single .wav and play it. As seen in the code below. foo = wx.FileDialog(self, message="Open a .wav file...", defaultDir=os.getcwd(), defaultFile="", style=wx.FD_MULTIPLE) foo.ShowModal() queue = foo.GetPaths() self.playing_thread = threading.Thread(target=self.playFile, args=(queue[0], 'msg')) self.playing_thread.start() But the problem is, when I try to make the above code into a loop for multiple .wav files. Such that while playing_thread.isActive == True, create and .start() the thread. Then if .isActive == False, pop queue[0] and load the next .wav file. Problem is, my UI will lock up and I'll have to terminate the program. Any ideas would be appreciated.

    I'm implementing an application with different code paths that shall be chosen once at startup and then fixed forevermore for that execution- for example, choosing D3D11 or D3D9 rendering path. Obviously I don't want to duplicate all my other code. Is run-time inheritance (no virtual inheritance) a fair solution? I don't want to waste a bunch of performance making virtual lookups when the type was fixed long ago. Not just that, but it makes me nervous that the functions can't be inlined and whether or not it affects RVO and NRVO and such. Am I just being over-concerned about this?

    Hi, I set up session handling on a google app project. This is supposed to allow my users to login and maintain state across pages. If I were sending the user's password in there too, it would be in the clear. This would be ok (I think) if I was using https, but google app engine does not allow you to use https under custom domains (like www.mysite.com), they have to be under the (mysite.appspot.com) domain. I'm kind of stuck here - how do we send passwords securely? If I was using php, I think I could use digest authentication (I'm not too experienced here) - can we do something like that with gwt + gae? Thanks

    How do I model having multiple Addresses for a Company and assign a single Address to a Contact? Contacts belong_to a Company. A Company has_many Contacts. A Company also has_many Addresses. And each Contact has_one Address. I want to be able, whenever I create a New Contact, to access all the addresses in all Contacts that belong to the Company.     Hello, I have 2 tables Table1 with columns [BId,Name,Amount] Table2 with columns [CId,BId, ExpenseType,Expense]. BId Is the foreign key in Table2. The Amount field in Table1 is always higher than Expense in Table2. I need to update the values of Amount (increase or decrease) based on value of Expense and I want to do it in single query in LINQ. Eg If the Expense has to be updated with 200, I would decrease(negate) Amount value with 200. If Expense is reduce to 100 then the Amount is increased by a value of 100.   • Hook perm for more than one content type

    Drupal 6.x I have this module that manages four different content types. For that matter, how do I define permission for each content within the same module? Is that even possible? I can't figure out how to define permission for each content type cuz hook_perm has to be named with module name and it doesn't have any argument(like hook_access $node) to return permission base on content type. Any help would be highly appreciated.

    I have two strings: $first = '/this/is/a/string'; $second = '/this/:param1/a/:param2'; And I'm trying to get this: $params = array('param1' => 'is', 'param2' => 'string'); But getting from point a to b is proving more than my tired brain can handle at the moment. Anything starting with a ':' in the second string defines a variable name/position. There can be any number of variables in $second which need to be extracted from $first. Segments are separated by a '/'. Thanks.

  • Oracle Insert via Select from multiple tables where one table may not have a row

    I have a number of code value tables that contain a code and a description with a Long id. I now want to create an entry for an Account Type that references a number of codes, so I have something like this: insert into account_type_standard (account_type_Standard_id, tax_status_id, recipient_id) ( select account_type_standard_seq.nextval, ts.tax_status_id, r.recipient_id from tax_status ts, recipient r where ts.tax_status_code = ? and r.recipient_code = ?) This retrieves the appropriate values from the tax_status and recipient tables if a match is found for their respective codes. Unfortunately, recipient_code is nullable, and therefore the ? substitution value could be null. Of course, the implicit join doesn't return a row, so a row doesn't get inserted into my table. I've tried using NVL on the ? and on the r.recipient_id. I've tried to force an outer join on the r.recipient_code = ? by adding (+), but it's not an explicit join, so Oracle still didn't add another row. Anyone know of a way of doing this? I can obviously modify the statement so that I do the lookup of the recipient_id externally, and have a ? instead of r.recipient_id, and don't select from the recipient table at all, but I'd prefer to do all this in 1 SQL statement.

I know must redirect rules go the other way but for the purpose of the applciation I need to reverse it. Any ideas? I have tried things like: RedirectRule ^embed\?t\=([a-zA-Z0-9]+)$ /page/embed/$1 but with no luck.

  • PHP/CSS issue, one account has a fine style, the other is weird

    Hello there, I am currently having the above issue, where on a CMS called phpVMS a CSS displaying front page works fine on the first account, but does not on any other user accounts. This only applies to the frontpage, and all of the tags seem to be closed. The top half of the picture is how it should display and how it displays for user GSM1001. The bottom half is for users GSM1002 upwards. I am really puzzled and I'd appreciate any suggestions. I am happy to post snippets of the code here or on jsFiddle if you require to see it.
