  Silverlight has a method called HtmlPage.PopupWindow() that opens new web browser window with a specific page. You can find this method in the namespace System.Windows.Browser. If you haven’t in your project, add a reference to System.Windows.Browser. The method HtmlPage.PopupWindow() has three parameters: Uri – location to browse String – the target window HtmlPopupWindowOptions – a class with the window options (full list of properties http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.windows.browser.htmlpopupwindowoptions(v=vs.95).aspx) For a security reason of Silverlight the call to HtmlPage.PopupWindow() is allowed through any user input like a button, hyperlink, etc. The code is very simple: var options = new HtmlPopupWindowOptions {Left = 0, Top = 0, Width = 800, Height = 600}; if (HtmlPage.IsPopupWindowAllowed) HtmlPage.PopupWindow(new Uri("http://geekswithblogs.net/"), "new", options); The property IsPopupWindowAllowed is used to check whether the window is enabled to open popup.

• I have reinstalled 12.04 and there is no dual boot option

  Tonight, I have reinstalled Ubuntu 12.4on Win XP pro machine for a 3rd time. (Uninstalled in between.) Oddly enough, this machine had a dual boot between xp pro & ubuntu for several months before we decided to reinstall everything (because of windows). Have you had any problems with the reboot on XP Pro SP3 with all updates & microsoft essentials? I am not getting a choice of which operating system to boot into, it just boots into windows & does not acknowledge ubuntu!

  Few examples before the question: "A language is just a tool; Better to worry only about the concept." "C++ is just an object oriented language." "Java is more about the libraries and less about programming." "C# is just a Microsoft's version of Java with some extra things from C++." "Python is a scripting language used mainly for testing purpose." ... All these statements are made knowingly or unknowingly from my colleagues/friends and I often get to hear them. I feel bad when someone brings down any programming language. I don't know how to respond. Is there any one liner to enlighten those people?

  I recently got an inquiry to my Microsoft Translator sample on if this would work with the Silverlight in the Windows Phone 7 SDK. I hadnt tried it before, so I created a sample Windows Phone 7 application and copied the code over. I used a basic UI to mock up the similarities: And then clicked the button.   I recently bought Samsung Galaxy Note II on android 4.1. It was my idea to try to turn it into a pc and I bought a micro-keyboard for the same purpose. I had hoped there would be an app for OpenOffice, but there isn't. Now i see that ubuntu may be installed on smart phones. I already have ubuntu - including OpenOffice - on my laptop. My question is: is it possible to install ubuntu to galaxy note II, and if so, does it include office programs and other ubuntu programs? So aside from C# I want to learn a new language. Time is precious and I want to give my focus to a language which have a future. My language list is: Scala (Powerful usage in Twitter) Go (Getting popular and channels are pretty awesome) Erlang (Stable server side programs. • Is programming or computer science in general, all about algorithms?

  As a grad student, I find it more and more common for prestigious companies (like Google, Facebook, Microsoft,...) to put algorithm questions in their test and interviews. A few startups I applied to also asked about algorithms. I wonder if algorithms fluency is the most important thing for software developer in those companies? If the answer being yes, what are the best method or resources for one to learn & practice about algorithms effectively? I can't seem to get interested in solving seemingly too complicated problems found in most textbook or websites. Though easily understand basic algorithms (like quicksort, bubblesort,...), I find it immensely difficult to remember and reuse them later. Thanks. P/S: If you ask me what I like, it's building good softwares to solve users' problems innovatively. I suppose that does not necessarily mean the software has to be very complicated.
