    HI all, I want to Store the data entered by user in a file. If a user enters his description in a text field, Then i Have to store the data in a file. All the users data will go to the same file with their user name and description. And I have to retrieve The Data from that file for a particular user. For example if there are two users with their descriptions in the file, Then I have to retrieve a particular users description and print it on the users page. How can I store and retrieve The data from a file?

  • How to calculate Content-Length for a file download within Kohana PHP?

    I'm trying to send a file from within a Kohana model to the browser, but as soon as I add a Content-Length header, the file doesn't start downloading right away. Now the problem seems to be that Kohana is already outputting buffers. An ob_clean at the begin of the script doesn't help this though. Also adding ob_get_length() to the Content-Length isn't helping since this just returns 0. The getFileSize() function returns the right number: if I run the script outside of Kohana, it works. I read that exit() still calls all destructors and it might be that something is outputted by Kohana afterwards, but I can't find out what exactly. Hope someone can help me out here...     I need to create a big array in my code, I have the values in several tables (for easy management). I select it and now I have all the values in an array, in memory in the way I want. My problem, I need to write this array down, into the code. Is there a way to take an array which sits in the memory and translate it into a string "array('g'='h','b'='d'....)" which I can then echo and just copy-paste into my code?

  • In PHP can I check a boolean on a function call?

    I have a function which checks the passed value and returns false or true, if false I want it to add something to an array. The code I've written is below. if(!check_input($_POST['username'])){ $errors[] = "Username"; } Right now it adds to my array anyway, regardless of what is entered in the form. Is the way I've written that the correct way to check if the return from check_input() is false? I've checked the function's logic by altering the returns to echoes and it's returning the correct value, I'm just not sure if I'm checking it wrong. I'd previously attempted to write it as $X=check_input etc, and then if(check_value == false) but that doesn't seem to give me the desired result either. Hmmm a quick pointer please!

    I've tried fetching MySQL query results using mysql_fetch_row() mysql_result() and numeric values are being returned as strings. Is there any way to fetch the data as its datatype stored in the table? The application will be querying many different queries so I will be unable to cast the values as the intended datatype on a 1 by 1 basis.

Instead of having to do $myArray = myClass::giveMeArray(); $myValue = $myArray[$myKey]; I'd like to do something along the lines of $myValue = array_value_from_key(myClass::giveMeArray(),$myKey); When an object is returned, you can chain the object such as $myValue = myClass::giveMeObject()->aValue; Voila, nice and clean.. not being able to find what seems to be a simple and trivial function is driving me crazy... PS.. one more example of how I'd like to use such a function if(arrayKeyVal(aClass::giveMeArray(),$myKey)) { do_something(); }

    I'm wanting to store items in my database with a DATE value for a certain day. I don't know how to get the current Monday, or Tuesday, etc. from the current week. Here is my current database setup. menuentry id int(10) PK menu_item_id int(10) FK day_of_week date message varchar(255) So I have a class setup that holds all the info then I was going to do something like this... foreach ( $menuEntryArray as $item ) { if ( $item->getDate() == [DONT KNOW WHAT TO PUT HERE] ) { // code to display menu_item information } } So I'm just unsure what to put in "[DONT KNOW WHAT TO PUT HERE]" to compare to see if the date is specified for this week's Monday, or Tuesday, etc. The foreach above runs for each day of the week - so it'll look like this... Monday Item 1 Item 2 Item 3 Tuesday Item 1 Wednesday Item 1 Item 2 ... Thanks!

  • How should I make up for the lack of static initializers in PHP?

    I'm thinking about putting every class into a separate file and doing the static initialization outside of the class definition. The problem with this is the fact that the initialization will happen before the said class is actually needed (it will happen when the file which contains the class is included for the first time). It's a problem, because it may happen that the class won't be used at all, hence the initialization is unnecessary. And I think the practice of including the used files not in the beginning of your code is simply a dirty technique. If anybody has a viable solution to this problem, I would greatly appreciate it.

    I need to produce a string for use in an query e.g. SELECT whatever from Keywords.word IN (here); At the moment I have string which could be $search = "one word or four"; or $search = "one"; or $search = "one one"; I need to validate this into some acceptable for my query. I want a unique list of words, separated with a comma up to a maximum of three. This is what I have so far. $array = explode(" ",$search); $unique = array_unique ($array); I'm sure there must be a quicker way than evaluating each of the items for blank and selecting the first three.

  • Is it good practise to use meta refresh tags for redirects instead of header() function in php?

    I have to use redirects a lot in my scripts, for example after a user logs in I need to redirect them to the admin area, etc. But I find it inconvenient to always have to have the header function at the very top.
