    Hello Guys I am trying to access an Shellfolder like: "Shell:::{35786D3C-B075-49b9-88DD-029876E11C01}" via Java on a Windows PC ... but I havn't found a way to do so up to now. Is this generally possible with Java? Recently I uncovered the sun.awt class "ShellFolder"... Does this class provide the abilitiy to access such an folder? thanks for your help Ripei

  • Best way for user authentication on JavaEE 6 using JSF 2.0?

    I'm wondering what the current state of art recommendation is regarding user authentication for a web application making use of JSF 2.0 (and if any components do exist) and JEE6 core mechanisms (login/check permissions/logouts) with user information hold in a JPA entity. The Sun tutorial is a bit sparse on this (only handles servlets). This is without making use of a whole other framework, like Spring-Security (acegi), or Seam, but trying to stick hopefully with the new Java EE 6 platform (web profile) if possible. Thanks, Niko

    I've got two instances of a SessionScoped CDI bean for the same session. I was under the impression that there would be one instance generated for me by CDI, but it generated two. Am I misunderstanding how CDI works, or did I find a bug?     Talking about javax.crypto.Cipher; I was trying to encrypt data using Cipher.getInstance("RSA/None/NoPadding", "BC"); but I got the exception: ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException: too much data for RSA block Looks like is something related to the "NoPadding", so, reading about padding, looks like CBC is the best approach to use here. I found at google something about "RSA/CBC/PKCS#7", what is this "PKCS#7"? And why its not listed on sun's standard algorithm names?

    I'm looking for a tool or a script that will take the console log from my web app, parse out the garbage collection information and display it in a meaningful way. I'm starting up on a Sun Java 1.4.2 JVM with the following flags: -verbose:gc -XX:+PrintGCTimeStamps -XX:+PrintGCDetails The log output looks like this: 54.736: [Full GC 54.737: [Tenured: 172798K->18092K(174784K), 2.3792658 secs] 257598K->18092K(259584K), [Perm : 20476K->20476K(20480K)], 2.4715398 secs] Making sense of a few hundred of these kinds of log entries would be much easier if I had a tool that would visually graph garbage collection trends.

    I am trying to find a setting by which the connection pool monitoring information would come in the server.log whenever an error like "error allocating a connection" or "connection closed" occur. I found some blog entries that talk about this but they mention it from GUI prespective. However, I want a setting on the connection pool itself so that perodically the connection pool monitoring information would be shown in the logs. Does anyone know of such a setting?   • Printing user specified column from JTable

    I have an application, and I would like to print a JTable, but since it has many columns, I would like user to select/limit which columns to print so it can fit in regular printer paper. I'm using JTable.print() function to print. (http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/uiswing/misc/printtable.html) Right now, my solution, is to create another JTable with the columns that user selected, then repopulate the table with the data, then send it to printer. Is there a better way to do it?

The driver I am using is sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver but I believe it is not present on Mac OSX by default and hence throws an exception for class not found.     Hi experts, Assuming you've already had a chance to look through the lambda syntax proposed for Java7 (and the other things that have happened with Java, after Oracle has bought Sun + obvious problems in Java Community Process), what do you think is the future of Java language?
