• Compare values in each column of two Oracle Types

  I've been playing around with the pluto-test-framework today, and I'd like to get some existing functions into a test harness with it. I have lots of functions with this type of specification. FUNCTION DO_SOME_STUFF (pOldSchedule IN SCHEDULE_OBJ, pNewSchedule OUT SCHEDULE_OBJ, pLoggerContext IN OUT LOGGER_CONTEXT_OBJ) RETURN NUMBER; It takes pOldSchedule, does some stuff to it, and then returns pNewSchedule. The logger_context just does logging. As part of a test, I'd like to be able to compare the values in each of the columns of the type, without having to write individual IF statements. It'll need to return boolean to signify whether or not pOldSchedule and pNewSchedule match. Any ideas?

• What's a good Perl OO interface for creating and sending email?

  I'm looking for a simple (OO?) approach to email creation and sending. Something like $e = Email->new(to => "test <[email protected]>", from => "from <[email protected]>"); $e->plain_text($plain_version); $e->html($html_version); $e->attach_file($some_file_object); I've found Email::MIME::CreateHTML, which looks great in almost every way, except that it does not seem to support file attachments. Also, I'm considering writing these emails to a database and having a cronjob send them at a later date. This means that I would need a $e->as_text() sub to return the entire email, including attachments, as raw text which I could stuff into the db. And so I would then need a way of sending the raw emails - what would be a good way of achieving this? Many thanks

  Grep acts differently depending on what kind of quotes I surround the regex with. I can't seem to get a clear understanding of why this is. Here is an example of the problem: hamiltont$ grep -e show\( test.txt variable.show(); variable.show(a); variable.show(abc, 132); variableshow(); hamiltont$ grep -e "show\(" test.txt grep: Unmatched ( or \( hamiltont$ grep -e 'show\(' test.txt grep: Unmatched ( or \( I am just assuming there is some proper way to enclose the regex with single/double quotes. As soon as I try to redirect the page in the preRenderView method of the bean (just uncomment the code in the method), using handleNavigation() the bean is created again in the next view instead of using the allready created instance. • Best way to get record counts grouped by month, adjusted for time zone, using SQL or LINQ to SQL

  I'm looking for the most efficient way to suck out a series of monthly counts of records in my database, but adjusting for time zone, since the times are actually stored as UTC. I would like my result set to be a series of objects that include month, year and count. I have LINQ to SQL objects that looks something like this: public class MyRecord { public int ID { get; set; } public DateTime TimeStamp { get; set; } public string Data { get; set; } } I'm not opposed to using straight SQL, but LINQ to SQL would at least keep the code a lot more clean. The time zone adjustment is available as an integer (-5, for example). Again, the result set what I'm looking for is objects containing the month, year and count, all integers. Any suggestions? I can think of several ways to do it straight, but not with a time zone adjustment.

  Is there a way to reassign Makefile variable value inside of the target body? What I am trying to do is to add some extra flags for debug compilation: %.erl: %.beam $(ERLC) $(ERLFLAGS) -o ebin $< test: clean debug_compile_flag compile compile_test debug_compile: $(ERLCFLAGS) += -DTEST So if I invoke test target I would like to clean up my environment, add some new flags (like -DTEST to the existing ones), compile the whole code once again (first sources, then test modules). I do not want to copy/paste the code for compiling with some new flags set since there is a lot of logic put here and there. Is there some easy way to redefine the variable value so I can reuse the existing code?

  I'm using testng to run selenium based tests in java. I have a bunch of repeated tests. Generally they do all the same except of test name and one parameter. I want to automate generation of it. I was thinking about using factory. Is there a way to generate tests with different name? What would be the best approach to this?   I'm currently doing integration testing on a live database and I have the following sql statement: var date = DateTime.Parse("01-01-2010 20:30:00"); var result = datacontext.Repository<IObject>().Where(r => r.DateTime > date).First(); Assert.IsFalse(result.Finished); I need to test if the results retrieved from the statement, where the given date is less then the date of the object, have Finished set to False. I do not know how many results I get back and currently I'm getting the first object of the list and check if that object has Finished set to false. I know testing only the first item of the list is not valid testing, as a solution for that I could iterate through the list and check all items on Finished, but putting logic in a Test is kinda going against the concept of writing 'good' tests. So my question is: Does anyone have a good solution of how to properly test the results of this list?

• PHP Serialization Will not work correctly.

  Hi, I am developing and doing all the testing on a local machine using PHP Version 5.3.3-1ubuntu9.1 version. The host machine is PHP Version 5.2.15. All the seriliaze arguments are identical. The problems is when i try to login the user on my test local machine i do the following : $user->getByUserId($results['id'],$db); $_SESSION['user'] = serialize($user); which retrieved me and serialize the user. and i just load it back when ever i detect that a session exists $user->LoadFromObject(unserialize($_SESSION['user'])); This works perfectly on my test machine. Just transfered the files on the host to see if i can get a beta version out but i keep on getting Warning: unserialize() expects parameter 1 to be string, object given in /home/gamerent/public_html/beta/includes/header.php on line 19 i have noticed that if i echo the $_SESSION['user'] in both system the test will indeed display me the serializated one but the main one will just show me the object and will not serialize the $user

But how can they test that, is there some sort of simple code (java or c++) to do it that you could share for me to evaluate and hopefully write my own to test the programs I write for University?   I have a sql file test.sql used to run some SQL (create object / update / delete / insert) that can look like this CREATE TABLE test_dbi1 ( test_dbi_intr_no NUMBER(15) , test_dbi_name VARCHAR2(100); UPDATE mytable SET col1=1; CREATE TABLE test_dbi2 ( test_dbi_intr_no NUMBER(15) , test_dbi_name VARCHAR2(100); Usually, i would just use SQLPLUS (from within Perl) to execute this test.sql using this command : @test.sql Is there a way to do the same thing, using DBI in Perl ? So far, i found DBI can only execute one statement at a time, and without the ";" at the end.

  I am using Eclispe with Google plugin for AppEngine and GWT. Recently I created a test GWT module, but eventually it has been deleted from the project and I can not find any sign of it in the project now. However, whenever I run the web app locally, I get in console the following message: Loading modules com.piq.exemity.Test [ERROR] Unable to find 'com/XXXXXX/Test.gwt.xml' on your classpath; could be a typo, or maybe you forgot to include a classpath entry for source? Has anyone got any idea where it can be hiding?
