• Best way to integrate searching with pagination

  I have a web application build on cakephp 2.x. I have integrated pagination on my data. Now i want to implement searching on that data also, and pagination should work according to search result. Now my question is: Should i use a form to post my search string. If so, then which method should i use, GET or POST. OR, should i use javascript window.location method, and append the search string to it. If we use this method then search string can append more than once to url. Or any other best way to implement this. Can anybody give the best solution for this as it is a common task for each application to have.

• Graphics Question: How do I restrict the mouse cursor to within a circle?

  I'm playing with XNA. When I click the left mouse button, I record the X,Y co-ordinates. Keeping the mouse button held down, moving the mouse draws a line from this origin to the current mouse position. I've offset this into the middle of the window. Now, what I'd like to do is restrict the mouse cursor to within a circle (with a radius of N, centred on the middle of the screen). Restricting the mouse to a rectangular region is easy enough (by adjusting the origin by the difference of the mouse position and the size of the region), but I haven't a clue on how to start doing it for a circular region. Can anyone explain how to do this? Any advice on where to start would be helpful.

Since MDN makes me think that the two are not mutually exclusive, my question is, "What do I have to do to get Firefox 8.0.1 to display the add-on bar and XUL simultaneously?"

  I am wanting to send some data to a server from a client application to the server via port 5555. I don't have a window's server. My question is if I purchase a .Net Framework hosting service. Would I be able to connect the client application to this server. and could I do it by sending a Post.   I'm currently mining sequence patterns using SPADE algorithm in R. SPADE is included in "arulesSequence" package of R. I'm running R on my CentOS 6.3 64bit. Does anybody know why such errors occur?

• Finding all the URL requests from a firefox extension

  I am building a firefox extension. In this extension, I want to see the URLs of any new webpage that the user visits. The webpage can be in a different tab or window than the current tab that the user is viewing (this should also catch the URL of pop-ups). Is there a way to find when firefox makes a GET or POST request and grab the URL? An alternative that I am trying to avoid is going through all the tabs and manually check to see if they have loaded a new page. Thanks

• SSRS Performance Mystery

  I have a stored procedure that returns about 50000 records in 10sec using at most 2 cores in SSMS. The SSRS report using the stored procedure was taking 20min and would max out the processor on an 8 core server for the entire time. The report was relatively simple (i.e. no graphs, calculations). The report did not appear to be the issue as I wrote the 50K rows to a temp table and the report could display the data in a few seconds. I tried many different ideas for testing altering the stored procedure each time, but keeping the original code in a separate window to revert back to. After one Alter of the stored procedure, going back to the original code, the report and server utilization started running fast, comparable to the performance of the stored procedure alone. Everything is fine for now, but I am would like to get to the bottom of what caused this in case it happens again. Any ideas?

• Make content 100% height with scrollbar

  I am using CKEditor (http://ckeditor.com) and I've created my own custom file browser... Problem is, when you open the filebrowser, it opens it in a new popup window and has no scrollbars. I submitted a support ticket 2 weeks ago to find out how to add the scrollbars and no answer. I can't find what to edit in the code either... So what I plan to do is make it scroll using CSS... I found this post about making the body 100% (http://stackoverflow.com/questions/886809/css-quirks-html-4-01-strict-100-body-height-and-scrollbars) but it doesn't add scrollbars. Any ideas how I can force scrollbars using CSS?

• Outputting audio stream into microphone

  Hey everyone. Is there a way of outputting audio from my program and redirecting that stream to the system's microphone input 'layer'? I understand this might require some low-level calls being 'Pinvoked', but are there any articles that might help me. For example, if I was to run the output audio stream of my application into Window's Sound Recorder program, it would think that the audio is coming from a microphone and thus record that. I don't want to record a stream, just output it to the device's micrphone input. Thanks for any ideas.

  I am doing an ajax request when an anchor tag is clicked with an ID set to href. Often I need two or three elements and I prefer to have them named. One ugly workaround for sliding(2) is the following: points.sliding(2).foreach{ twoPoints => val (p1,p2) = (twoPoints.head,twoPoints.last) //do something } This sucks and only works for two elements. Also note that (a,b) = (twoPoints(0),twoPoints(1)) doesn't work. Help me!

Users are internet\computer dummies so they dont know how to clear the coockies or the cache of the browser, so i need to connect to each one of their computers and do it by myself. I spend lots off hours doing it and they always complain. Some of the useres use Chrome, some Firefox. Googled and found no solution for this, Is there any client code operation that will command the browser to clrear its cache or even pop up browser window wich will ask user to confirm the clear?

• Distribution of many small classes

  Hi All, I have a base class called EventArgs. Derived from this are many, many specializations that represent event arguments for a particular kind of event. Consumers of these events may need some, many, or very few of these argument classes. My question is, would you provide a header file for each type (e.g, 50+ header files for the varying ones), would you try to group them in to families and have a 'common' header file for those, or would you throw caution to the window and throw them in to one easy-of-use header file that can just be included? Another approach might be to have 50 header files, and then I could introduce some "family" header files that included particular ones. Not sure about the naming conventions for these kinds of things so it is obvious what is where. I know there may not be a hard and fast rule, but wondering what other developers have done when they find themselves writing many little classes. Thanks in advance.

  Hi, How can I setup Eclipse to stop at the point an exception occurred. I have an Eclipse breakpoint setup to break on an exception. In the code example below, the problem I'm having is Eclipse tries to open the Integer source code. Is there any way to just have debugger break at the point shown in my code example? If I move down the stack trace, I will get to this line, it'd be nice if there's a way to do this without the "Source not found" window coming up. • Can we execute methods / code in XCode just like in Visual Studio?

  Visual Studio is one of the best developer IDE of all times, and now was improved with multithreading debugging and much more. My question is regarding XCode and the ability to execute code just like we do in Visual Studio. • How can I write fast colored output to Console?

  Hello world! I want to learn if there is another (faster) way to output text to the console application window using C# .net than with the simple Write, BackgroundColor and ForegroundColor methods and properties? I learned that each cell has a background color and a foreground color, and I would like to cache/buffer/write faster than using the mentioned methods. Maybe there is some help using the Out buffer, but I don't know how to encode the colors into the stream, if that is where the color data resides. This is for a retrostyle textbased game I am wanting to implement where I make use of the standard colors and ascii characters for laying out the game. Please help :)
