Django + jQuery: Sometimes AJAX, but always DRY?

Let's say I have an app (in Django) for which I want to sometimes (but not always) load content via ajax. An easy example is logging in. When the user logs in, I don't want to refresh the page, just change things around. Yet, if they are already logged in, and then arrive at (or refresh) the same page, I want it to show the same content. So, in the first case, obviously I do some sort of ajax login and load changes to the page accordingly. Easy enough. But what about in the second case? Do I go back through and add {% if user.authenticated %} all over the place? This seems cold, dark, and WET. On the other hand, I can just wrap all the ajaxy stuff in a javascript function, called loggedIn(), and run that if the user is authenticated. But then I'm faced with two http requests instead of one. Also undesirable. So what's the standard solution here?

Button Visibility Converter

Hi All, I have a requirement wherein I need to display on a User form, a Create Button if that user has doesnt have a profile and a Edit Button if he does have a profile. I am using a converter to change the visibility of the button. My guess is that, it is because the constructor would have create the profile object and so even though the object is empty it shows me edit button instead of create. Is there any other way I could display button visibility??

Hi, I'm trying to insert reCaptcha code into my page from jQuery, but it doesn't work. I could set the visibility of the container that holds the reCaptcha to invisible (display: none;), but it will dowload the content irrespectively of it. I can insert the "noScript" code that reCaptcha gives us, but it doesn't work either, because it can spot that the browser allow javascript but I use noScript. Any suggestions? (I know I put my public reCaptcha key into the code, but it is just for testing purposes, and you could get it from my html or javascript code anyway)

jquery validate not submitting after modal close bootstrap

Right way to center a <div> in xhtml?

Im working with a XHTML 1.0 Transitional doctype html file, and I want to have a main div with 800px width and make it appears centered (not the div content, but the div itself). Wordpress - related posts by custom taxonomy problem

Hello, I'm trying to display related posts based on a custum taxonomy. I found a query at wordpress.org that kind of works. However the original post gets duplicated in the results multiple times. (words is the name of the custom taxonomy I use) What seems to happen is that the single post gets duplicated according to what amount showpost is set. Any idea's what could cause this? Best way for launching html/jsp to communicate with GWT module

I asked this at the GWT forum but I'm impatient for the answer and I seem to get rather good responses here. A html or jsp file is used to launch the xxx.nocache.js, which then decides which browser "permutation" to use. <head> <meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html;charset=UTF-8"> <title>xxx</title> <script type="text/javascript" language="javascript" src="xxx.nocache.js"></script> </head> In my case, I am using a jsp. When the JSP is executed, it discovers some conditions. I wish to pass these conditions as values to the GWT module being launched. The "elegant" GWT way to pass these values would be to persist them as request/memcache attributes and then have the GWT module perform RPC to retrieve those values. For example, the JSP discovers that the current user is Whoopy. Shouldn't I simply have the JSP generate javascript to store user = "Whoopy" as a top or namedframe level javascript variable and use JSNI within the module to retrieve the value for user? I have not tried it yet, but I would like to know how anyone might have done it without having to use RPC.

I need to have items in ListBox just next to each other. I have tried changing ItemTemplate of the ListBox but it did not help.

Appreciate any help for a perl learner.

Can someone help me with m Django localization?

I have a template with has text in it. It's located in /templates under my project directory. I'm trying to do Japanese now. I create a directory called "locale" in my project directory. Then, I set up this in my settings: gettext = lambda s: s LANGUAGES = ( ('de', gettext('German')), ('en', gettext('English')), ('ja', gettext('Japanese')), ) After that, I run this command: django-admin.py makemessages -l ja The only problem is, this doesn't work! Speed up of this version is 1.85x, overwhelming all the loop-unroll version. Here are the questions: In the inner-loop-unroll version, why does increment slow down if the unrolling factor increase, especially change the unrolling factor from 8 to 16, which does not effect the same when switch from 4 to 8? Does the result have some relationship with depth of the CPU pipeline? If the answer is yes, could the degrade of increment reflect pipeline length? What is the probable reason for the optimization of data-zone version? It seems that there is no too much essential difference from the original naive version. Using a Javascript Variable & Sending to JSON

Hello all! I'm trying to take a URL's hash value, send it through a function, turn that value into an object, but ultimately send the value to JSON. I have the following setup: function content(cur){ var mycur = $H(cur); var pars = "p="+mycur.toJSON(); new Ajax.Updater('my_box', 'test.php', { parameters: pars }); } function update(){ if(window.location.hash.length > 0){ content(window.location.hash.substr(1)); // Everything after the '#' } } var curHashVal = window.location.hash; window.onload = function(){ setInterval(function(){ if(curHashVal != window.location.hash){ update(); curHashVal = window.location.hash; } },1); } But for some reason, I can't seem to get the right JSON output. It will either return as a very large object (1:"{",2:"k") or not return at all. I doubt that it is impossible to accomplish, but I've exhausted most of the ways I can think of. Other ways I've tried were "{" + cur + "}" as well as cur.toObject(), however, none seemed to get the job done. Thanks for the help!

Switching main view in WPF

I know it might be silly, I have just started with WPF. I want to switch to a different view when a user clicks on a control, for example showing a detail page after a click on a list. This view would replace the original. In a web application this would be navigating to a different page. What is the local idiom for that?

Help with my PHP template class

I want to separate the output of HTML from my program code in my projects, so I wrote a very simple database class. <?php class Template { private $template; function load($filePath) { if(!$this->template = file_get_contents($filePath)) $this->error('Error: Failed to open <strong>' . $filePath . '</strong>'); } } ?> The thing I need help with is the display() method. Say for example I use this code: $tplObj = new Template(); $tplObj->load('index.php'); $tplObj->replace('{TITLE}', 'Homepage'); $tplObj->display(); And the index.php file is this: <html> <head> <title>{TITLE}</title> </head> <body> <h1>{TITLE}</h1> <?php if($something) { echo '$something is true'; } else { echo '$something is false'; } ?> </body> </html> I'm just wondering if the PHP code in there would be run? Or would it just be sent to the browser as plaintext? I was using eval() in my template class but I hate that function :P Thanks.

Force import module from Python standard library instead of PYTHONPATH default

I have a custom module in one of the directories in my PYTHONPATH with the same name as one of the standard library modules, so that when I import module_name, that module gets loaded. If I want to use the original standard library module, is there any way to force Python to import from the standard library rather than from the PYTHONPATH directory, short of renaming the custom module and changing every reference to point to the new name?
