• Pylons 1.0 AttributeError: 'module' object has no attribute 'metadata'

  Python noob trying to learn Pylons. I'm using the QuickWiki tutorial (http://pylonshq.com/docs/en/1.0/tutorials/quickwiki_tutorial/) from the 1.0 documentation, but this alleged "1.0" doc seems to just be "0.9.7"; I suspect that this has something to do with the error I'm getting.   In django I have the following tables and am trying to count the number of votes by item. class Votes(models.Model): user = models.ForeignKey(User) item = models.ForeignKey(Item) class Item(models.Model): name = models.CharField() description = models.TextField() I have the following queryset queryset = Votes.objects.values('item__name').annotate(Count('item')) that returns a list with item name and view count but not the item object. How can I set it up so that the object is returned instead of just the string value? I have been messing around with Manager and Queryset methods, that the right track? Any advice would be appreciated.

I have a ListBox in Class1 view which displays Class2. How to map the output of the ListBox back to IList Class2s property of Class1? I am able to display the values in the ListBox but unable to map back the SelectListItem to IList.

• Circular Dependency of Navigation Control in iPhone

  Hi everyone , In my view this is one of the strangest problem i have ever come across in iPhone app development. Let me explain the scenario , i have main screen 'A' on which i have a Button that directs me to another Screen say 'B'. Now on Screen 'B' i have a feature in which user can send a mail to his friend for promotion purpose e.g a user wishes to tell a frnd about this app so i used MFMailComposeViewController and a view is generated where the user types the address and click send ( subject and body of mail is automatically generated ). After sending the mail a new view opens say screen 'C' and here i want to give the user the options . 1. Go to Screen 'A' ( which is main screen of the app ) 2. Go back to Screen 'B' ( from where the user requested to send a mail to his frnd ). Now the strange part i cannot declare the variables ( Screen 'A' and 'B' ) of both these files here at in header file of screen 'C' . Even when i declare the header file at the top it generates an error. The variables can be easily be declared and used for other screens but not for these 2 screens.   I'm following this article http://www.asp.net/mvc/tutorials/older-versions/models-(data)/validating-with-a-service-layer-cs to include a Service Layer with Business Logic in my MVC Web Application. I'm able to pass messages from the Service Layer to the View Model in a Html.ValidationSummary using ModelState Class. I perform basic validation logic on the View Model (using DataAnnotation attributes) and I have ClientValidation enabled by default which displaying the error message on every single field of my form. The Business logic error message which come from the Service Layer are being displayed on Html.ValidationSummary only after Posting the form to the Server. After Validation from the Service Layer I would like highlight one or more fields and have the message from the Service Layer showing on these fields instead that the Html.ValidationSummary. Any idea how to do it? Thanks

  I have the following data structure in my database: LastName FirstName CourseName John Day Pricing John Day Marketing John Day Finance Lisa Smith Marketing Lisa Smith Finance etc... The data shows employess within a business and which courses they have shown a preference to attend. The number of courses per employee will vary (i.e. as above, John has 3 courses and Lisa 2). I need to take this data from the database and pass it to a webpage view (asp.net mvc). I would like the data that comes out of my database to match the view as much as possible and want to transform the data using SQl so that it looks like the following: LastName FirstName Course1 Course2 Course3 John Day Pricing Marketing Finance Lisa Smith Marketing Finance Any thoughts on how this may be achieved? Note: one of the reasons I am trying this approach is that the original data structure does not easily lend itself to be iterated over using the typical mvc syntax: <% foreach (var item in Model.courseData) { %> Because of the duplication of names in the orignal data I would end up with lots of conditionals in my View which I would like to avoid. I have tried transforming the data using c# in my ViewModel but have found it tough going and feel that I could lighten the workload by leveraging SQL before I return the data. Thanks.

• How can I stop sorl thumbnail from breaking with very long filenames?

  I've noticed that when working with SORL thumbnail, sometimes a user will upload an image with a very long filename, longer than the varfield in the database can hold. The name gets truncated in the database and the project gives errors whenever the image is requested. Is there a smart and safe way to have django automatically truncate long filenames in sorl uploads (prior to saving them in the database) to prevent this sort of thing? • How can I make named_scope in Rails return one value instead of an array?

  I want to write a [named scope] to get a record from its id. For example, I have a model called Event, and I want to simulate Event.find(id) with use of named_scope for future flexibility. I used this code in my model: named_scope :from_id, lambda { |id| {:conditions => ['id= ?', id] } } and I call it from my controller like Event.from_id(id). But my problem is that it returns an array of Event objects instead of just one object. Thus if I want to get event name, I have to write event = Event.from_id(id) event[0].name while what I want is event = Event.from_id(id) event.name Am I doing something wrong here?

• How do I automatically rebuild the Sphinx index under django-sphinx?

  I just setup django-sphinx, and it is working beautifully. I am now able to search my model and get amazing results. The one problem is that I have to build the index by hand using the indexer command. That means every time I add new content, I have to manually hit the command line to rebuild the search index. That is just not acceptable. I could make a cron job that automatically runs the indexer command every so often, but that's far from optimal. New data won't be indexed until the cron runs again. In addition, the indexer will run unnecessarily most times as my site doesn't have data being added very often. How do I set it up so that the Sphinx index will automatically rebuild itself whenever data is added to or modified in a searchable django model?

  Hi, I am trying to learn Microsoft MVC 2, and have in that case found a small project I wanted to deploy it on. My idea was to simulate a restaurant where you can order a table. Basics: A user can only reserve a full table, so I don't have the trouble of merging people on different tables. A person can order a table for a certain amount of hours. My question was how I could make the data model the smartest way. I thought of just having a my database like this: Table { Id, TableName } Reservations { Id TableId ReservedFrom ReservedTo UserId } User { UserId UserName ... } By doing it this way I would have to program a lot of the logic in e.g. the business layer, to support which tables are occupied at what time, instead of having the data model handle it. Therefore do you guys have a better way to do this?

  My models: class Order(models.Model): ordered_by = models.ForeignKey(User) reasons = models.ManyToManyField(Reason) class Reason(models.Model): description = models.CharField() Basically a user creates an order and gives reasons for that order. ie, john has two orders (one for pencils because he is out AND because he doesn't like his current stock. a second order for pens because he is out). I want to print a list out of all reasons a user has placed his orders. So under john, it should print "he is out", "he doesn't like his current stock"; those two lines only. If I simply select all of john's orders, iterate through them and print out their "reasons" it'll print "he is out", "he doesn't like his current stock" and then "he is out" again. I don't want these duplicate values. How do I select a list of his reasons for ALL his orders so that the list has all unique rows?

First, Should I add anything to my list? Should I remove anything from my list? The items accommodates a large number of cases. However, whenever an app extends a model of another in some way (e.g. adding a field or changing the behavior in some way) I end up writing my own views and only reusing the model. Is this normal?

I have just a single view based application and inserted a webview into the view and implementing the webviewdelegate in viewcontroller. The site uses ttf/eot fonts that are dynamically downloadable by browser from http://www.eenadu.net/eenadu.ttf or http://www.eenadu.net/EENADU0.eot. • iPhone:Tabbar hides when pushing from TableView to UIViewController

  Hello all, I have four Tab bar items in a Tab bar which is being bottom of the view where i have the TableView. I am adding Tab bar and items programmatically (Refer below code) not through I.B. Click on first three Tab bar items, will show the data in the same TableView itself. But clicking on last Tab bar items will push to another UIViewcontroller and show the data there. The problem here is, when i push to the viewController when clicking on last Tab bar item, main "Tab bar" is getting removed. I am seeing full screen view there. I want to see bottom Tab bar always when every tab item clicked. What might be the problem here? Could someone who come across this issue, please share your suggestion to me? Thank you.
