  • How to read postgresql dump file in Python

    I'd like my Python script to read some data out of a postgresql dump file. The Python will be running on a system without postgresql, and needs to process the data in a dump file. It looks fairly straightforward to parse the CREATE TABLE calls to find the column names, then the INSERT INTO rows to build the contents. But I'm sure there would be quite a few gotchas in doing this reliably. Does anyone know of a module which will do this?

  • Permanent access token to an app that posts to a fan page - error code:1

    I'm following the steps very well described here http://stackoverflow.com/a/18399927/2510225 , but, from my server, I receive the following error: {"error":{"message":"The access token does not belong to application APP-ID","type":"OAuthException","code":1}} I can't figure what I'm doing wrong. Anyone knows if the process to get a permanent access token has changed, or is having the same issue? The access token I'm using in the request is the user access token, which I think is correct.

  • WPF windows locked when calling webservice. Even when run asynchronously

    Hi there. I'm having a big problem when calling a web service from my WPF application. The application/window locks until the process has completed. I've attempted to run this asynchronously but the problem still persists. Currently, the web service call I'm making can last 45-60 seconds. It runs a process on the server to fetch a big chunk of data. As it take a little while I wanted to have a progress bar moving indeterminately for the user to see that the application hasn't stalled or anything (you know how impatatient they get).   • Gaining access to jndi environment variables within a Tomcat LifecycleListener

    I'm using a LifecycleListener in tomcat to initialize some objects required by contexts in my web server. Within LifecycleListener I would like to have access to GlobalNamingResources Environment variables to keep the configuration for the server inside the server.xml file. When trying various approaches I get the following error: javax.naming.NameNotFoundException: Name java:comp is not bound in this Context I'm assuming that the jndi is not initialized by this stage of the server startup process. Any ideas on how to tackle this?

    I'm in the process of learning SQL, and I need a way of verifying that my SQL queries are valid (i.e. no syntax errors). I also would like to check what results they yield on a test database of my choosing and structure. I'm using embedded firebird in my C# .NET application, so I don't really have any tools to work with. Anyone have any tips? Perhaps there are SQL administrators/query IDEs out there that work with Firebird?

    I'm interested in people's thoughts comparing storing data in a traditional SQL based Database or utilising a Memory-Mapped File such as the one in the new .Net 4.0 runtime. The data in question would be arrays of simple structures. Obvious pros and cons: SQL Database Pros Adhoc query support SQL Management Tools Schema changes (adding more columns and setting default values) Memory-Mapped Pros Lighter overhead? (this is an assumption on my part) Shareable between process threads Any others? Is it worth it for performance gains?

Else Some times I do Ctrl-Alt-Del and Stop all the process related to Java, some times this also works. But what is the exact reason and how can we prevent this problem ?

  • Improving performance on data pasting 2000 rows with validations

    I have N rows (which could be nothing less than 1000) on an excel spreadsheet. And in this sheet our project has 150 columns like this: Now, our application needs data to be copied (using normal Ctrl+C) and pasted (using Ctrl+V) from the excel file sheet on our GUI sheet. Copy pasting 1000 records takes around 5-6 seconds which is okay for our requirement, but the problem is when we need to make sure the data entered is valid. So we have to validate data in each row generate appropriate error messages and format the data as per requirement. So we need to at runtime parse and evaluate data in each row. Now all the formatting of data and validations come from the back-end database and we have it in a data-table (dtValidateAndFormatConditions). The conditions would be around 50. So you can see how slow this whole process becomes since N X 150 X 50 operations are required to complete this whole process. Initially it took approximately 2-3 minutes but now i have reduced it to 20 - 30 seconds. However i have increased the speed by making an expression parser of my own - and not by any algorithm, is there any other way i can improve performance, by using Divide and Conquer or some other mechanism. Currently i am not really sure how to go about this. I don't know enough about software development to understand or get a grasp of how to setup the build process by looking at apple's guides. Could someone walk me through how to compile a simple c++ project with a header and two c++ files in xcode? Do I first need to make a makefile??

    My XP machine has become terribly slow and I want to identify the application at fault. It seems to be related to disk access rather than processor hogging. I can look at the task manager to get a good idea but it's not ideal. I was wondering if there was some application that can monitor all aspects of processes effectively.
