• how to localize a table with multiple text entries?

  Hello, I'm writing a web app which will allow creation of events. An event can have a title as well as a description amongst other things. The app needs to be multilingual. So I have 4 tables for localization: ResourceTypes, ResourceKeys, Resources, and Locales. A resource key can have multiple values in Resources table for different locales. So Resources is a many to many table between ResourceKeys and Locales. So in the event table I want to have a resourceKey for its title as well as a resourceKey for its description. So my question is, is it OK from database-design perspective to have two foreign keys from a table into another table? Has anybody used a better approach in such a scenario?

  Hi, When using Jquery UI Sortable (which is great by the way) how do you get the item that is currently being sorted. When you use $(this); it return the actual sortable list, not the current sorted item. I want to do fancy-pants things with the widget when the user is dragging it around. E.g. Animate it when dragging between two lists. So how do I get the current item being sorted? • WPF Application Hang

  Hi, I'm using Windows 7 Professional (x64) and having installed .NET 4.0 RTM on my machine. Since 2 days I'm noticing that every WPF application that I'm trying to run hangs and becomes non responsive (a not responding text is appended to it's title bar) and it's painted white. There is no info regarding any exception, no error message. Nothing. Even the Event Log shows that there was "application hang" event (code 1002) and nothing more. This problem is for everything that is written in WPF, even for products like NHibernate Profiler and other stuff that I was using on a regular basis without any issues. Tried to reinstall .NET 4.0 and nothing changed. Any ideas why this might be happening?

My access.log and headers are: /ajax/?q=%E6%BC%A2%E5%AD%97 Accept-Charset ISO-8859-1,utf-8;q=0.7,*;q=0.7 Content-Type application/x-www-form-urlencoded; charset=UTF-8 Howeer, in IE8, my access.log says: /ajax/?q=?? For some reason, IE8 is turning my AJAX call into question marks. Why!? I added the scriptCharset and ContentType according to some tutorials, but still no luck.   Hello, I am wondering if you guys know different approach to disable an event for a while. Let me elaborate this more : Lets say I have a div or button which has a subscriber to its onclick event. To prevent the double click when the the methods are doing some ajax things, these are the some of the ways we can do : Disable the button till the method finishes its job Unbind till the methods finishes its job and then bind it again. Use some kind of flagging system like boolean so it will prevent method from working more than once. So is there any other ways, maybe some javascript tricks or jQuery tricks which is more efficient and better practice. Thanks in advance.

  Is it possible in Asp.NET MVC to proframmatically logout a user? I am aware that you can use: FormsService.SignOut(); But this refers to the context of the webpage making the request. I'm trying to prevent a user logging in twice. • Get the UIWindow which is under the UIActionSheet

  I am trying to present a new UIViewController on top of the current current UIViewController. Here is the line of code that creates the desired effect: LoginViewController *loginViewController = [[LoginViewController alloc] initWithNibName:@"LoginViewController" bundle:nil]; UIViewController *rootController = [[[UIApplication sharedApplication] keyWindow] rootViewController]; [rootController presentViewController:loginViewController animated:YES completion:nil]; The problem is that I added an UIActionSheet which asks the user to confirm the desired action (which is to log out). When the user confirms the action I run the above mentioned peace of code, but the UIActionSheet is still the keyWindow. Therefore the LoginViewController is not presented on top (the rootController is null when I try to debug). My question is: Can I somehow find the UIWindow which is under the UIActionSheet and from there get the root controller,or maybe I can dismiss programmatically the UIActionSheet when the users selects the log out action and only then execute the above code?   Qt's graphics view frameworks is very powerful, but I have not found a way to support custom layers. In Qt, there is a QGraphicsScene::ItemLayer,but QGraphicsScene renders all items are in this layer. I want manage the items with several layers, Just like Illustrator and CorelDraw. all the item only in the current layer will receive the event, be selected or get the key focus etc.. Other layers(not current layer) will not receive all scene event. The most reasons of using layers is I could catalogue a large number of items more clearly.And without needing transfer events to all the layers' items ,I think the graphics frameworks will be more efficient. The last question, does QGraphicsView support rendering server stacked graphics scenes at the same time? If support, I think the "custom layers" can be solved in this way. Thanks very much!

• Override default behavior of SPACE key in .net WinForms ListView

  Hello, I'd like to implement some custom behavior of Space key in a ListView. Basically I'd like to toggle selected status of the item under cursor - that should be fairly simple this.FocusedItem.Selected = !this.FocusedItem.Selected; but alas, it also does the default action, which is to select the focused item. This way I am unable to 'unselect' the focused item. I've looked for similar problems and they suggest using PreviewKeyDown event, in which I would process the key and disallow the ListView to do its default action. But the PreviewKeyDown event argument has no "handled" property, so I cannot 'eat' this key.

• touchesEnded not being called??? or randomly being called

  If I lift my finger up off the first touch, then it will recognize the next touch just fine. It's only when I hold my first touch down continuously and then try and touch a different area with a different finger at the same time. It will then incorrectly register that second touch as being from the first touch again. • Handling Hide/Show dock icon menu in AIR on OS X

  I'm trying to figure out how to access the Show/Hide option that OS X automatically adds to the dock icon menu. The problem is that no matter what I do to hide my app, the dock icon menu will always show Hide and only if I click that option does it switch to Show. I want to have my app toggle visibility using the Invoke event but if a user hides the app that way and then right clicks the dock icon, they won't see Show, just Hide. Is there an event I can monitor for it? Or that I can trigger? I just want to have that menu option status be synced to whatever visibility status I set programatically. This has been driving me nuts!

• jQuery ajax() function is ignoring dataType parameter in Firefox

  I'm trying to use jQuery.ajax() to fetch some html, but Firefox is giving me a "junk after document element" error message. As explained here and here the problem seems to be that Firefox is expecting XML from the server, and when it doesn't parse correctly it throws the error. Here's my ajax code: jQuery.ajax({ url: name, dataType: "html", success: function(result) { console.log(result); }, error: function (jqXHR, textStatus, errorThrown) { console.log(errorThrown); } }); The server returns the html with these response headers: Accept-Ranges bytes Content-Length 2957 Last-Modified Tue, 02 Jul 2013 16:16:59 GMT Note that there's no content-type header. I'm sure that adding one would solve the problem, but that's not an option. The real problem is that Firefox appears to be ignoring the dataType: parameter in the ajax call. I've also tried adding contentType: and accepts: parameters, but it doesn't help. What am I missing here? How do I force Firefox to process the response as plain text?

  On any french keyboard(AZERTY) the dot char '.' is generated with (Shift + ;) combination while the percent char '%' is generated with (Shift + ù) combination So when I type one of the above combinations in a GWT text area to write '.' or ' %', the key codes generated for these events are KEY_DELETE in the former case and KEY_LEFT in the latter.   I'm loading an external script (that creates a new window component) into a panel, which works fine. Now, I want to access the created window from a callback function to register a closed event handler. I've tried the following: panel.load({ scripts: true, url: '/createWindow', callback: function(el, success, response, options) { panel.findByType("window")[0].on("close", function { alert("Closed"); }); } }); However, the panel seems to be empty all the time, the findByType method keeps returning an empty collection. I've tried adding events handlers for events like added to the panel but none of them got fired. So the question is: how do I access the window in the panel to register my close event handler on it?

I am no stats wonk, so maybe it makes sense that a LOESS function’s output would match the input as seen in the above example, but it strikes me as being wrong.   I'm working with backbone.js models, so I don't know if my question is particular to the way backbone handles cloning or if it applies to javascript in general. Basically, I need to clone a model which has an attribute property assigned an object. The problem is that when I update the parent or clone's attribute, the other model is also updated. • Hung JVM consuming 100% CPU

  We have a JAVA server running on Sun JRE 6u20 on Linux 32-bit (CentOS). We use the Server Hotspot with CMS collector with the following options (I've only provided the relevant ones): -Xmx896m -Xss128k -XX:NewSize=384M -XX:MaxPermSize=96m -XX:+UseParNewGC -XX:+UseConcMarkSweepGC Sometimes, after running for a while, the JVM seems to slip into a hung state, whereby even though we don't make any requests to the application, the CPU continues to spin at 100% (we have 8 logical CPUs, so it looks like only one CPU does the spinning). In this state the JVM doesn't respond to SIGHUP signals (kill -3) and we can't connect to it normally with jstack. We CAN connect with "jstack -F", but the output is dodgy (we can see lots of NullPointerExceptions from JStack apparently because it wasn't able to 'walk' some stacks). So the "jstack -F" output seems to be useless. We have checked the memory usage on the box, there seems to be enough memory available and the system is not swapping. Has anyone come across such a situation? Does it look like a JVM bug? UPDATE I've obtained some more information about this problem (it happened again on a server that has been running for more than 7 days). When the JVM entered the "hung" state it stayed like that for 2 hours until the server was manually restarted. We have obtained a core dump of the process and the gc log. We tried to get a heap dump as well, but "jmap" failed. We tried to use jmap -F but then only a 4Mb file was written before the program aborted with an exception (something about the a memory location not being accessible). So far I think the most interesting information comes from the gc log. The fact that the server stayed in the hung state for 2 hours (probably trying to GC and compact the old generation) seems quite strange to me. Also, the gc log stops suddenly with that message and nothing else gets printed any more, probably because the VM Thread gets into some sort of infinite loop (or something that takes 2+ hours).

• Are there tools that would be suitable for maintaining a changelog for a Cabal Haskell package?

  I'm working fast and furiously on a new Haskell package for compiler writers. I'm going through many minor version numbers daily, and the Haskell packaging system, Cabal, doesn't seem to offer any tools for updating version numbers or for maintaining a change log. (Logs are going into git but that's not visible to anyone using the package.) I would kill for something equivalent to Debian's uupdate or dch/debchange tools. Does anyone know of general-purpose tools that could be used to increment version numbers automatically and add an entry to a change log?
