  • Set up tunnel to HE.net and now only ipv6.google.com works, but other sites ping fine.

    - by AndrejaKo
    I'm setting up IPv6 using my router which is running OpenWRT, version Backfire 10.03.1-rc4. I made a tunnel using Hurricane Electric's tunnel broker and set it up on the router and I'm using RADVD to hand out IPv6 addresses. My problem is that on computers on the network, I can only access ipv6.google.com using a browser, but other sites seem to be loading forever and won't open in any browser. I can ping and traceroute to them fine, but can't open them with a browser. I can open any site normally with a browser from the router. Stopping firewall service on the router doesn't help, so it's probably not a firewall issue. All AAAA records resolve fine, so it's probably not a DNS issue. Computers on the network get their IPv6 addresses fine, so it's probably not a radvd issue. Similar setup worked fine for SixXs, but I'm having problems with my PoP there, so I decided to move to HE. Here are some traceroutes: From a client computer: Tracing route to ipv6.he.net [2001:470:0:64::2] over a maximum of 30 hops: 1 <1 ms 1 ms 1 ms 2001:470:1f0b:de5::1 2 62 ms 63 ms 62 ms andrejako-1.tunnel.tserv6.fra1.ipv6.he.net [2001:470:1f0a:de5::1] 3 60 ms 60 ms 63 ms gige-g2-4.core1.fra1.he.net [2001:470:0:69::1] 4 63 ms 68 ms 68 ms 10gigabitethernet1-4.core1.ams1.he.net [2001:470:0:47::1] 5 84 ms 74 ms 76 ms 10gigabitethernet1-4.core1.lon1.he.net [2001:470:0:3f::1] 6 146 ms 147 ms 151 ms 10gigabitethernet4-4.core1.nyc4.he.net [2001:470:0:128::1] 7 200 ms 198 ms 202 ms 10gigabitethernet5-3.core1.lax1.he.net [2001:470:0:10e::1] 8 219 ms * 210 ms 10gigabitethernet2-2.core1.fmt2.he.net [2001:470:0:18d::1] 9 221 ms 338 ms 209 ms gige-g4-18.core1.fmt1.he.net [2001:470:0:2d::1] 10 206 ms 210 ms 207 ms ipv6.he.net [2001:470:0:64::2] Trace complete. and another from a cliet computer Tracing route to whatismyipv6.com [2001:4870:a24f:2::90] over a maximum of 30 hops: 1 7 ms 1 ms 1 ms 2001:470:1f0b:de5::1 2 69 ms 70 ms 63 ms AndrejaKo-1.tunnel.tserv6.fra1.ipv6.he.net [2001:470:1f0a:de5::1] 3 57 ms 65 ms 58 ms gige-g2-4.core1.fra1.he.net [2001:470:0:69::1] 4 73 ms 74 ms 75 ms 10gigabitethernet1-4.core1.ams1.he.net [2001:470:0:47::1] 5 71 ms 74 ms 76 ms 10gigabitethernet1-4.core1.lon1.he.net [2001:470:0:3f::1] 6 141 ms 149 ms 148 ms 10gigabitethernet2-3.core1.nyc4.he.net [2001:470:0:3e::1] 7 141 ms 147 ms 143 ms 10gigabitethernet1-2.core1.nyc1.he.net [2001:470:0:37::2] 8 144 ms 145 ms 142 ms 2001:504:1::a500:4323:1 9 226 ms 225 ms 218 ms 2001:4870:a240::2 10 220 ms 224 ms 219 ms 2001:4870:a240::2 11 219 ms 218 ms 220 ms 2001:4870:a24f::2 12 221 ms 222 ms 220 ms www.whatismyipv6.com [2001:4870:a24f:2::90] Trace complete.   • Why doesn't my Droid phone charge when connected to a powered USB hub that is not connected to my computer?

    - by pkaeding
I notice that my new Motorola Droid phone charges perfectly fine when I connect it to my computer via the USB cable, or if I connect it to a car cigarette lighter-USB adapter, or a wall power-USB adapter. It also works fine when I connect it to a powered USB hub that is connected to my computer. However, if that same powered USB hub is not connected to my computer when I connect the phone, it does not charge. If I connect the computer to the hub, and then connect the phone to the hub, it will charge. If I then disconnect the computer from the hub, the phone will continue to charge. Does anyone know why this is happening, or what I can do to be able to charge my phone from a powered hub, without my computer being present?

  • double-click does not open the default program

    - by Chang
I installed Ubuntu 12.04, with texlive-full and texworks. When I double-click a .tex file in Nautilus, it pops up a Do you want to run "xxxxxxxx.tex", or display it contents? "xxxxxxxx.tex" is an executable text file. Run in Terminal Display Cancel Run If I choose Display, it opens texworks. How can I make it open without seeing the above conversation window? By the way, is .tex file indeed an executable file? ADDED Just for the case, my ~/.local/share/applications/mimeapps.list file looks like the following: [Default Applications] text/html=google-chrome.desktop x-scheme-handler/http=google-chrome.desktop x-scheme-handler/https=google-chrome.desktop x-scheme-handler/about=google-chrome.desktop x-scheme-handler/unknown=google-chrome.desktop text/x-tex=texworks.desktop x-scheme-handler/mailto=google-chrome.desktop [Added Associations] text/x-tex=texworks.desktop; text/x-bibtex=jabref.desktop;gedit.desktop; I observe texworks are both up and down. Should I remove one? ADDED This does not happen with all .tex files. In fact, I am currently using Ubuntu 12.04 under Virtual Box with Windows 7 host. I have my Dropbox account synced with the Windows 7 host, and I access files in Dropbox in Ubuntu through Virtual Box's shared folder functionality. (I didn't install Dropbox client in Ubuntu.) Files in Dropbox are owned by root with group vboxsf. My personal account is in the group vboxsf. It seems that I have to uncheck the option for "executable", but I have all my .tex files in the Dropbox shared folder. Would there be any workaround?

  • Balancing agressive invites

    - by Nils Munch
I am designing a trading card game for mobiles, with the possibility to add cards to your collection using Gems, aquired through victories and inapp purchases. I am thinking to increase the spread of the game with a tracking system on game invites, enabling the user to invite a friend to play the game. If the friend doesn't own the game client (which is free) he will be offered to download it. If he joins the game, the original player earns X amount of gems as an reward. There can only be one player per mobile device, which should rule out some harvesting. My question is, how do you think the structure of this would be recieved ? All invites are mail based, unless the player already exists in the game world (then he gets a ingame invitation.) I have set a flood filter, so a player can only invite a friend (without the client installed) once a month.

  • What reasons are there to reduce the max-age of a logo to just 8 days? [closed]

    - by callum
Most websites set max-age=31536000 (1 year) on the Cache-control headers of static assets such as logo images. Examples: YouTube Yahoo Twitter BBC But there is a notable exception: Google's logo has max-age=691200 (8 days). I've checked the headers on the Google logo in the past, and it definitely used to be 1 year. (Also, it used to be part of a sprite, and now it is a standalone logo image, but that's probably another question...) What could be valid technical reasons why they would want to reduce its cache lifetime to just 8 days? Google's homepage is one of the most carefully optimised pages in the world, so I imagine there's a good reason. Edit: Please make sure you understand these points before answering: Nobody uses short max-age lifetimes to allow modifying a static asset in future. When you modify it, you just serve it at a different URL. So no, it's nothing to do with Google doodles. Think about it: even if Google didn't understand this basic trick of HTTP, 8 days still wouldn't be appropriate, as only those users who don't have the original logo cached would see the doodle on doodle-day – and then that group of users would go on seeing the doodle for the following 8 days after Google changed it back :) Web servers do not worry about "filling up" the caches of clients (or proxies). The client manages this by itself – when it hits its own storage limit, it just starts dropping the lowest priority items to make space for new items. The priority score is based on the question "How likely am I to benefit from having cached this URL?", which is nothing to do with what max-age value the server sent when the URL was originally requested; it's a heuristic based on the "frecency" of requests for that URL. The max-age simply lets the server set a cut-off point – the time at which the client is supposed to discard the item regardless of how often it's being re-used. It would be very nice and trusting of a downstream client/proxy to rely on all origin servers "holding back" from filling up their caches, but I don't think we live in that world ;)

  • File/printer sharing issues on network with multiple OSes

    - by DanZ
My workplace consists of computers running a variety of different operating systems, and I have been running into problems getting some of them to connect to a shared drive and printer over the network. Here is a brief description of the computers involved and the issues I have encountered: 1: Dell desktop, Windows Vista Business-- This is the computer I want the others to connect to. It has a USB printer and eSATA hard drive enclosure that I have set up for sharing, with different accounts for the various users. 2: Fujitsu laptop, Windows XP Tablet edition-- No problems. Can connect to both the shared printer and hard drive. 3: Lenovo laptop, Windows Vista Business 64 bit-- No problems. Can connect to both the shared printer and drive. 4: Apple MacBook, OS 10.4-- Can connect to the shared drive, but not to the shared printer. I am aware that the printer issue is due to a known incompatibility between Vista and OS 10.4 and earlier with regards to Samba. It is not a big problem, however, as this computer can access a network printer. 5: Sony laptop, Windows Vista Home Premium-- Can connect to the shared printer, but not the shared drive. It can see computer 1 and its shared drive on the network, and appears to successfully log in to user accounts. However, if you try to access the shared drive, it says you do not have permission. I have tried both standard and administrator accounts, and none can access the drive from this computer. 6: MacBook Pro, OS 10.5 (there are two of these)-- Can connect to the shared printer, but not the shared drive. They can't see computer 1 on the network. For that matter, they also can't see each other or the older Mac, but can see and access shared folders on the XP machine (computer 2) and can see other PCs in the building. I was able to add the shared printer manually by typing in its network location, but was unable to manually add the shared drive in the same way. So, what I am looking for is suggestions on how to get computers 5 and 6 to connect to the shared drive. Since they can already connect to the shared printer (which is on the same computer as the shared drive), it seems reasonable that they should be able to access the drive as well.

  • Dealing with engineers that frequently leave their jobs [closed]

    - by ??? Shengyuan Lu
My friend is a project manager for a software company. The most frustrating thing for him is that his engineers frequently leave their jobs. The company works hard to recruit new engineers, transfer projects, and keep a stable quality product. When people leave, it drives my friend crazy. These engineers are quite young and ambitious, and they want higher salaries and better positions. The big boss only thinks about it in financial terms, and his theory is that “three newbies are always better than one veteran” (which, as an experienced engineer, I know is wrong). My friend hates that theory. Any advice for him?

  • some questions about raid card

    - by cpps
I have some questions about raid card. Use LSI MegaRAID® SAS 9260-8i raid card as a example. There is only two connection ports on the raid card, and they provide two cables that can connect 8 SAS/SATA storages. The document say it can connect "Maximum 32 drives per controller", I want to know how can I connect more than 8 hard disks with this card. Is that they say "Eight internal SATA+SAS ports" means they provide two cables which can connect 8 hard drives, but you can use other way to connect Maximum 32 drives? The other question. I see host bus adapter has raid integrated , so what is the difference between host bus adapter and raid card. Are they the same? I also know is SAS/SATA Expander's function only to connect more hard drives? Thanks in advance.

  • Automatically Connecting to Hidden SSID WiFi Network

    - by Zack
My MacBook Pro will not automatically connect to a Wireless network with a hidden SSID. It makes me select the "Join Other Network..." in the Airport menu (in the system tray), where I need to input the name of the network, then security type, password and wait for it to connect. This is becoming increasingly annoying to have to do every time I come back to my desk. I'm running Mac OS X 10.5 and there doesn't seem to be an option to connect to a specific network, but rather "Preferred Networks." The only network I have set as Preferred that's in range is my home network, and it still doesn't automatically connect. Making the network publicly visible isn't under my control, so I'm stuck with what's currently in place. Reader's Digest version: How do I make my MacBook Pro automatically connect to a WiFi Network with a hidden SSID without having to "configure" it every time I want to connect?

  • Problems with shutting down JBoss in Eclipse if I change JNDI port

  • Why do I get a connection error / timeout when using python suds to connect to Microsoft CRM?

    - by Chris R
When I try to connect to an MS CRM web service using suds/python-ntlm, I am getting a timeout on requests. However, the code that I'm trying to replace -- which calls out to the cURL command line app to do the same call -- succeeds. Clearly something is different in the way that cURL is sending the command data, but I'll be damned if I know what the difference is. Below are the full details of the various calls. Anyone got any tips? Here's the code that is making the request, followed by the output. The cURL command code is below that, and its response follows. Hosts, users, and passwords have been changed to protect the innocent, of course. wsdl_url = 'https://client.service.host/MSCrmServices/2007/MetadataService.asmx?WSDL' username = r'domain\user.name' • Which social sign-in (Google, twitter, fb, etc) is most often used (if I could only choose one, which would statistically retain the most users)?

    - by David
I am working with a startup which is about to do it's launch in maybe 2-3 weeks. In order to see the primary features of the site, the user has to register or sign in if they have already registered. We quickly decided we wanted to incorporate social plugins as alternatives to a conventional sign up, just like stackexchange does. But seeing that we are strapped for time and fairly amateur developers, I'm trying to justify just choosing one or two social sign-ins to start with for the launch and then maybe add more later. Based on my experience as a user, I'm guessing that twitter and google (in no particular order of importance) would probably be the most important social sign-ins in order to retain as many users as possible, but have absolutely no statistics to back that up other than my own anecdotal experience. This question hasn't been visibly asked on the internet, so I figured I'd hop on stackexchange and give it a punt. Thanks.

  • Is JQuery UI meant to work only with Google Chrome??? (How about IE and Firefox??!)

    - by Richard77
Hello, I'm using "Jquery UI 1./Dan Wellman/Packt Publishing" to learn JQuery UI. I'm working on the 'Dialog widget' chapiter. After I've completed a series of exercises in order to build a Dialog widget (using Google Chrome), I then tried my work with Internet Explorer and Firefox. The result has been disappointing. Chrome was perfet With Internet Explorer, (1) the title of the Dialog widget did not appear, (2) The location of the dialog widget was not correct (given the position: ["center", "center"]). It was rather offset toward left. With Firefox, the location was respected. However, only the outer container was visible. the content was missing, just a blank container. Also using Option Show:true and Hide:true did only work with Chrome. I wonder now if JQuery UI was meant to be used only with Google Chrome. I just think that I might be missing some directives to make it work with major browsers (as the author claimed in his book). Here's the code. Since, I'm using ASP.NET MVC, certain codes, such as the element to the css, do not appear. But, for the rest, all the functioning code is bellow. <asp:Content ID="Content2" ContentPlaceHolderID="MainContent" runat="server"> <p> The goal of this tutorial is to explain one method of creating model classes for an ASP.NET MVC application. • Someone please help google create instuctions that windows users understand. googles "instructions"

    - by nathan
Below are the only instructions i managed to find from google on how to install the android NDK, it is written as if we all run Linux and presumes we all understand what these obscure tools are. My comments and questions appear in Italics if somone who knows unix and windows would translate for google that would be great! Android NDK Installation Introduction: Please read docs/OVERVIEW.TXT to understand what the Android NDK is and is not. This file gives instructions on how to properly setup your NDK. I. Requirements: The Android NDK currently requires a Linux, OS X or Windows host operating system. Windows users will need to install Cygwin (http://www.cygwin.com) to use it. Note that running the NDK under MSys is not supported. You will need to have the Android SDK and its dependencies installed. The NDK cannot generate final application packages (.apk files), only the shared library files that can go into them. IMPORTANT: The Android NDK can only be used to target system images using the Cupcake (1.5) or later releases of the platform. This is due to subtle toolchain and ABI related changed that make it incompatible with 1.0 and 1.1 system images. The NDK requires GNU Make 3.81 or later being available on your development system. Earlier versions of GNU Make might work but have not been tested. You can check this by running 'make -v' from the command-line. The output should look like: GNU Make 3.81 Copyright (C) 2006 Free Software Foundation, Inc. ... On certain systems, GNU Make might be available through a different command like 'gmake' or 'gnumake'. For these systems, replace 'make' by the appropriate command when invoking the NDK build system as described in the documentation. Great some strange thing called gnu make.. if your not going to tell me what it does maybe you then at least you could give me a URL to it? The NDK also requires a Nawk or GNU Awk executable being available on your development system. Note that the original 'awk' program doesn't implement the 'match' and 'substr' functions used by the NDK build system. Ok another tool, with 1 of 2 possible names, but not the third... and again where should i download this?? On Windows, you will need to install a recent release of Cygwin to use the NDK. See http://www.cygwin.com for instructions. Woohoo a URL! download took about a day because these install instructions do not specify what parts to download. II. Preparing your installation prebuilt cross-toolchain binaries: After installing and unarchiving the NDK, you will need to run the following command from the root folder: build/host-setup.sh hello? windows dont run nothing but .exe .com or .dll, just tell me how you want me to run it.. This will test your setup and make sure the NDK can work properly. Nothing is said about where any of these things need to be installed to (what directory)

  • Injecting generics with Guice

    - by paradigmatic
I am trying to migrate a small project, replacing some factories with Guice (it is my first Guice trial). However, I am stuck when trying to inject generics. I managed to extract a small toy example with two classes and a module: import com.google.inject.Inject; public class Console<T> { private final StringOutput<T> out; @Inject public Console(StringOutput<T> out) { this.out = out; } public void print(T t) { System.out.println(out.converter(t)); } } public class StringOutput<T> { public String converter(T t) { return t.toString(); } } import com.google.inject.AbstractModule; import com.google.inject.Guice; import com.google.inject.Injector; import com.google.inject.TypeLiteral; public class MyModule extends AbstractModule { @Override protected void configure() { bind(StringOutput.class); bind(Console.class); } public static void main(String[] args) { Injector injector = Guice.createInjector( new MyModule() ); StringOutput<Integer> out = injector.getInstance(StringOutput.class); System.out.println( out.converter(12) ); Console<Double> cons = injector.getInstance(Console.class); cons.print(123.0); } } When I run this example, all I got is: Exception in thread "main" com.google.inject.CreationException: Guice creation errors: 1) playground.StringOutput<T> cannot be used as a key; It is not fully specified. at playground.MyModule.configure(MyModule.java:15) 1 error at com.google.inject.internal.Errors.throwCreationExceptionIfErrorsExist(Errors.java:354) at com.google.inject.InjectorBuilder.initializeStatically(InjectorBuilder.java:152) at com.google.inject.InjectorBuilder.build(InjectorBuilder.java:105) at com.google.inject.Guice.createInjector(Guice.java:92) I tried looking for the error message, but without finding any useful hints. Further on the Guice FAQ I stumble upon a question about how to inject generics. I tried to add the following binding in the configure method: bind(new TypeLiteral<StringOutput<Double>>() {}).toInstance(new StringOutput<Double>()); But without success (same error message). Can someone explain me the error message and provide me some tips ? Thanks.

  • Python regex to parse text file, get the items in list and count the list

    - by Nemo
I have a text file which contains some data. I m particularly interested in finding the count of the number of items in v_dims v_dims pattern in my text file looks like this : v_dims={ "Sales", "Product Family", "Sales Organization", "Region", "Sales Area", "Sales office", "Sales Division", "Sales Person", "Sales Channel", "Sales Order Type", "Sales Number", "Sales Person", "Sales Quantity", "Sales Amount" } So I m thinking of getting all the elements in v_dims and dumping them out in a Python list. Then compute the len(mylist) to get the count of the items. The challenge is in getting all the elements of v_dims from my text file and putting them in an empty list. I m particularly interested in items in v_dims in my text file. The text file has data in the form of v_dims pattern i showed in my original post. Some data has nested patterns of v_dims. Thanks. Here's what I have tried and failed. Any help is appreciated. • Connection error in java website. Tnsping shows that the service is running

    - by user1439090
I have a java website application running in windows 7 which uses oracle database for its functionalities. The database has default SID name orcl. When I use tnsping, I can see that the orcl service is active. Also most of the application is working fine except for one part. I was wondering if someone could help me with the following error:- 1. cause: message:null,java.lang.reflect.InvocationTargetException at sun.reflect.NativeConstructorAccessorImpl.newInstance0(Native Method) at sun.reflect.NativeConstructorAccessorImpl.newInstance(NativeConstructorAccessorImpl.java:39) at sun.reflect.DelegatingConstructorAccessorImpl.newInstance(DelegatingConstructorAccessorImpl.java:27) at java.lang.reflect.Constructor.newInstance(Constructor.java:513) at org.olat.course.statistic.StatisticAutoCreator.createController(StatisticAutoCreator.java:73) at org.olat.course.statistic.StatisticActionExtension.createController(StatisticActionExtension.java:40) at org.olat.course.statistic.StatisticMainController.createController(StatisticMainController.java:80) at org.olat.core.gui.control.generic.layout.GenericMainController.getContentCtr(GenericMainController.java:258) at org.olat.core.gui.control.generic.layout.GenericMainController.event(GenericMainController.java:221) at org.olat.core.gui.control.DefaultController.dispatchEvent(DefaultController.java:196) 2. cause: message:Could not get JDBC Connection; nested exception is java.sql.SQLException: The Network Adapter could not establish the connection,org.springframework.jdbc.CannotGetJdbcConnectionException at org.springframework.jdbc.datasource.DataSourceUtils.getConnection(DataSourceUtils.java:80) at org.springframework.jdbc.core.JdbcTemplate.execute(JdbcTemplate.java:381) at org.springframework.jdbc.core.JdbcTemplate.query(JdbcTemplate.java:455) at org.springframework.jdbc.core.JdbcTemplate.query(JdbcTemplate.java:463) at org.springframework.jdbc.core.JdbcTemplate.queryForObject(JdbcTemplate.java:471) at org.springframework.jdbc.core.JdbcTemplate.queryForObject(JdbcTemplate.java:476) at org.springframework.jdbc.core.JdbcTemplate.queryForLong(JdbcTemplate.java:480) at org.olat.course.statistic.SimpleStatisticInfoHelper.doGetFirstLoggingTableCreationDate(SimpleStatisticInfoHelper.java:63) at org.olat.course.statistic.SimpleStatisticInfoHelper.getFirstLoggingTableCreationDate(SimpleStatisticInfoHelper.java:81) at org.olat.course.statistic.StatisticDisplayController.getStatsSinceStr(StatisticDisplayController.java:517) 3. cause: message:The Network Adapter could not establish the connection,java.sql.SQLException at oracle.jdbc.driver.SQLStateMapping.newSQLException(SQLStateMapping.java:70) at oracle.jdbc.driver.DatabaseError.newSQLException(DatabaseError.java:133) at oracle.jdbc.driver.DatabaseError.throwSqlException(DatabaseError.java:199) at oracle.jdbc.driver.DatabaseError.throwSqlException(DatabaseError.java:480) at oracle.jdbc.driver.T4CConnection.logon(T4CConnection.java:413) at oracle.jdbc.driver.PhysicalConnection.(PhysicalConnection.java:508) at oracle.jdbc.driver.T4CConnection.(T4CConnection.java:203) at oracle.jdbc.driver.T4CDriverExtension.getConnection(T4CDriverExtension.java:33) at oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver.connect(OracleDriver.java:510) at java.sql.DriverManager.getConnection(DriverManager.java:582) 4. cause: message:The Network Adapter could not establish the connection,oracle.net.ns.NetException at oracle.net.nt.ConnStrategy.execute(ConnStrategy.java:328) at oracle.net.resolver.AddrResolution.resolveAndExecute(AddrResolution.java:421) at oracle.net.ns.NSProtocol.establishConnection(NSProtocol.java:634) at oracle.net.ns.NSProtocol.connect(NSProtocol.java:208) at oracle.jdbc.driver.T4CConnection.connect(T4CConnection.java:966) at oracle.jdbc.driver.T4CConnection.logon(T4CConnection.java:292) at oracle.jdbc.driver.PhysicalConnection.(PhysicalConnection.java:508) at oracle.jdbc.driver.T4CConnection.(T4CConnection.java:203) at oracle.jdbc.driver.T4CDriverExtension.getConnection(T4CDriverExtension.java:33) at oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver.connect(OracleDriver.java:510) 5. cause: message:Connection timed out: connect,java.net.ConnectException at java.net.PlainSocketImpl.socketConnect(Native Method) at java.net.PlainSocketImpl.doConnect(PlainSocketImpl.java:333) at java.net.PlainSocketImpl.connectToAddress(PlainSocketImpl.java:195) at java.net.PlainSocketImpl.connect(PlainSocketImpl.java:182) at java.net.SocksSocketImpl.connect(SocksSocketImpl.java:366) at java.net.Socket.connect(Socket.java:525) at java.net.Socket.connect(Socket.java:475) at java.net.Socket.(Socket.java:372) at java.net.Socket.(Socket.java:186) at oracle.net.nt.TcpNTAdapter.connect(TcpNTAdapter.java:127)

  • Wait 300ms and then slide down menu using jQuery

    - by Derfder
I tried this js code: <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready( function() { var timer; $('.top-menu-first-ul li').hover(function(){ if(timer) { clearTimeout(timer); timer = null } timer = setTimeout(function() { $(this).find('ul').slideToggle(100); }, 500) }, // mouse out }); }); </script> with this html: <ul class="top-menu-first-ul"> <li> <a href="http://google.com">Google</a> <ul class="top-menu-second-ul"> <li><a href="http://translate.google.com">Google Translate</a></li> <li><a href="http://images.google.com">Google Images</a></li> <li><a href="http://gmail.google.com">Gmail</a></li> <li><a href="http://plus.google.com">Google Plus</a></li> </ul> </li> <li> <a href="http://facebook.com">Facebook</a> </li> <li> <a href="http://twitter.com">Twitter</a> </li> </ul> but it is not working. I would like to show the submenu when hovering over e.g. Google link and other will appear after 300ms. So, I need to prevent loading submenu when the user just quickly hover over it and not stay on hover link for at least 300ms. Then I need to stop executing code (or slide up) when he leaves the link. Because if he go over and back and over and back a copule of times he stop doing hovering anfd the code is still executing itself how many times he had hover over the link. I need somehow prevent this to happen. EDIT: I need to solve this without plugins like hoverIntent etc. if possible, just plain javascript and jQuery

    - by Sarang
    Hi everyone, My data is an xml element & I want send PUT request with JavaScript. How do I do this ? For reference : Update Cell As per fredrik suggested, I did this : function submit(){ var xml = "<entry>" + "<id>https://spreadsheets.google.com/feeds/cells/0Aq69FHX3TV4ndDBDVFFETUFhamc5S25rdkNoRkd4WXc/od6/private/full/R2C1</id>" + "<link rel=\"edit\" type=\"application/atom+xml\"" + "href=\"https://spreadsheets.google.com/feeds/cells/0Aq69FHX3TV4ndDBDVFFETUFhamc5S25rdkNoRkd4WXc/worksheetId/private/full/R2C1\"/>" + "<gs:cell row=\"2\" col=\"1\" inputValue=\"300\"/>" + "</entry>"; document.getElementById('submitForm').submit(xml); } </script> </head> <body> <form id="submitForm" method="put" action="https://spreadsheets.google.com/feeds/cells/0Aq69FHX3TV4ndDBDVFFETUFhamc5S25rdkNoRkd4WXc/od6/private/full/R2C1"> <input type="submit" value="submit" onclick="submit()"/> </form> However, it doesn't write back but positively it returns xml file like : <?xml version='1.0' encoding='UTF-8'?> <entry xmlns='http://www.w3.org/2005/Atom' xmlns:gs='http://schemas.google.com/spreadsheets/2006' xmlns:batch='http://schemas.google.com/gdata/batch'> <id>https://spreadsheets.google.com/feeds/cells/0Aq69FHX3TV4ndDBDVFFETUFhamc5S25rdkNoRkd4WXc/od6/private/full/R2C1</id> <updated>2011-01-11T07:35:09.767Z</updated> <category scheme='http://schemas.google.com/spreadsheets/2006' term='http://schemas.google.com/spreadsheets/2006#cell'/> <title type='text'>A2</title> <content type='text'></content> <link rel='self' type='application/atom+xml' href='https://spreadsheets.google.com/feeds/cells/0Aq69FHX3TV4ndDBDVFFETUFhamc5S25rdkNoRkd4WXc/od6/private/full/R2C1'/> <link rel='edit' type='application/atom+xml' href='https://spreadsheets.google.com/feeds/cells/0Aq69FHX3TV4ndDBDVFFETUFhamc5S25rdkNoRkd4WXc/od6/private/full/R2C1/1ekg'/> <gs:cell row='2' col='1' inputValue=''></gs:cell> </entry> Any further solution for the same ?
