Task Description: We need to develop the application which display the dashboard where data from various SQL DB is fetched from different servers and displayed. Now this need to happen real time we can have refresh time say 5 min. Please refer the analogy so that it will help me to take the right path. Here are some details, Just for your reference. 1) How many servers? This application may support around Max 100 servers. 2) This Application will be used by Administrator to find the health of the SQL Server DB. 3) This will be build by 2 developers in approx 3 months time. 4) Refresh rate will be configurable as a Administrator option.   • asp.net custom templated datalist - throws argument out of range (index) on button press

    I have a class BaseTemplate public abstract class BaseTemplate : ITemplate This adds the controls, and provides abstract methods to implement in the inheriting class. The inheriting class then adds its html according to its data source and manages the data binding. this all works fine - I get the control appearing with properly parsed html. the problem is that the base class adds controls into the template that have their own CommandName arguments ... the idea is that the class that implements the custom templated dataList will provide the logic of setting the Selected and Edit Indexes. This class also manages the data binding etc. It sets all of the templates ont he datalist in the Init method (which was another cause of this exception). the exception gets throw when i hit one of these buttons .. but after the ItemCommand event is being processed. The stack trace does not include any references to my methods or objects which is why i am so stuck. Is this the way to retrieve the values or am I doing something wrong? And I cannot use html control because all other controls on the form are server controls and I am not sure if I can only make this control a html control. And I am not sure how can I bind the values to it?

Essentially, I would like to truncate a string such that it its length is not longer than a given value. I am writing to a database table and want to ensure that the values I write meet the constraint of the column's datatype. For instance, it would be nice if I could write the following: string NormalizeLength(string value, int maxLength) { return value.Substring(0, maxLength); } Unfortunately, this raises an exception because maxLength exceeds the string boundaries. Of course, I could write a function like the following, but I was hoping that something like this already exists. string NormalizeLength(string value, int maxLength) { return value.Length <= maxLength ? value : value.Substring(0, maxLength); } Where is the elusive API that performs this task? Is there one?

    hi folks, i'm using ip*works for download newsgroup message and insert them into a database... ipworks is "comfortable" to use because it automatically split nntp data return into different object (or variable). So i've "author" "date" "topic" "messagge" already splitted to my use. However ipworks isn't free and it cost a lot for my use.. so i'm asking you some component or code snippet to use to download and "manage" nntp messagges. Thanks in advance and regards!

If the queue reaches a specific size all threads that are filling the queue will be blocked on add until an item is removed from the queue.     I figured this would be a quick google, but extensive searching hasnt yielded any results. Everything about type conversion seems to dance around this concept. I want to get the type of variable "a", and make a new variable named "b" of that type. Otherwise I could have "a" as a type already declared and "b" simply as an Object, then try to cast "b" to the type of "a". Dim a As Integer Dim b As Whatever a Is OR TryCast(b, Whatever a Is) I would also like to make the conversion using a variable representation of the type, but cant find info on how to do that either. Sorta like: Dim a As Integer Dim b As Object Dim t As Type t = a.GetType() TryCast(b, t) Realizing I'm completely misusing TryCast here, I'm mostly trying to get my goal across. I figured it would be an easy quick thing to do but I cant really find any specific info on it. Any ideas?

When testing with soap ui for example creating an employee, if I send soap request xml with <empId>0</empId> works fine. <empId></empId> **throwing exception.** if i completly remove <empId> tag it works fine....
