  I have a table (apples) containing: cid date_am date_pm ---------------------- 1 1 1 2 2 1 3 1 3 1 1 2 I asked a question earlier (badly) about how I would rank the customers in order of the number of ones(1) they had. The solution was (based on one column): SELECT cid, sum( date_pm ) AS No_of_ones FROM apples WHERE date_am =1 GROUP BY cid ORDER BY no_of_ones DESC This works great for one column but how would I do the same for the sum of the two columns. ie.   This is perhaps a simple question, but I am n00b.Say I have a data frame with a bunch of columns. I need to call lm function over the column 1 and 2, 1 and 3, and so on. So basically I need to loop over all columns and store the results of the fit as I build the model. The problem I am running into is that lm(df[1]~df[2], data = df) doesnt work. In this case df is the data frame object and df[1] is the first column. What is a good way to do this in a loop, as in access the columns of df in an iterative fashion. Thanks.

  Hi, I always see the th tag only used in the first row of the table. Is there some specific reason why it can't be used to create 'left' headers along the leftmost column. Is this bad form, or is this ok. Basically, a table with headings on the top row and the leftmost column, with the very top left square being empty. e.g. <table> <tr> <th/> <!--empty--> <th>Top 1</th> <th>Top 2</th></tr> <tr> <th>LeftHeader?</th> <td>data1</td> <td>data2</td></tr> </table>

• scrolling a readonly cell in NSTableview?

  I have a table that the user should not be able to edit directly (although user actions may cause changes). One column may contain a string too long for any reasonable size cell, so to see everything there, the user needs to scroll the cell (using arrow keys, for example). If I make either the column or cell not editible, I loose the ability to scroll the cell. If I make it editable, of course, I loose the ability to keep the user from changeing it. (I'm using NSArray controller and a couple of NSObject controllers to get from the model to the table view using bindings. Binding compliance via @property(copy) and @synthesize.   I'm brainstorming some ideas around a pattern to use for the following scenario. I have some 3rd party controls that I want to add common functionality to. Functionality is added by handling several of the the events and doing certain things when the events fire along with adding some private variables to hold some state info between events. I want to reuse the code and functionality so this is what I'd typically do. Create a class for this functionality and pass in the instance of the control that I want to add the functionality to in the constructor. Then I can add event handlers to the control in the instance of the class. Can anyone think of alternative patterns to use in order to create this kind of reusable functionality.

I have used sort() method of dictionary but it doesnt give expected result. It just sort according to alphabatical order. In expected sorting order 1st priority should be to small letter then to capital letter then to number.

  I have a desktop application (forms) with a tab control, I assign a tab and a new custom webrowser control. I open up about 10 of these tabs. Each one visits about 100 - 500 different pages. The trouble is that if 1 webbrowser control has a problem it shuts down the entire program. I want to be able to close the offending webbrowser control and open a new one in it's place. Is there any event that I need to subscribe to catch a crashing or unresponsive webbrowser control ? • Can MySQL reasonably perform queries on billions of rows?

  I am planning on storing scans from a mass spectrometer in a MySQL database and would like to know whether storing and analyzing this amount of data is remotely feasible. I know performance varies wildly depending on the environment, but I'm looking for the rough order of magnitude: will queries take 5 days or 5 milliseconds? Input format Each input file contains a single run of the spectrometer; each run is comprised of a set of scans, and each scan has an ordered array of datapoints. There is a bit of metadata, but the majority of the file is comprised of arrays 32- or 64-bit ints or floats. Proposed schema I'm planning on doing things "right" (i.e. normalizing the data like crazy) and so would have a runs table, a spectra table with a foreign key to runs, and a datapoints table with a foreign key to spectra. The 200 Billion datapoint question I am going to be analyzing across multiple spectra and possibly even multiple runs, resulting in queries which could touch millions of rows. Assuming I index everything properly (which is a topic for another question) and am not trying to shuffle hundreds of MiB across the network, is it remotely plausible for MySQL to handle this? UPDATE: additional info The scan data will be coming from files in the XML-based mzML format. The meat of this format is in the <binaryDataArrayList> elements where the data is stored. Each scan produces = 2 <binaryDataArray> elements which, taken together, form a 2-dimensional (or more) array of the form [[123.456, 234.567, ...], ...]. These data are write-once, so update performance and transaction safety are not concerns. Is this a bug in Oracle jdbc? or correct behavior? The parameter is Timestamp, and I expected that no time conversions will be done on the way. The database column type is DATE, but I also checked it with TIMESTAMP column type with the same results. Is there a way to achieve correct result? I cannot change default timezone in the the whole application to UTC. Thanks for your help

Unlike other application i cannot run service exe file, so I had to first installed service using ServiceInstaller in my service project. Now i am building setup project for my service (MSI). In that setup project I am trying to add the output from my service project to my setup project by follwing below step 1. Right Click **Setup roject** in solution explorer and then click add and then click project output. 2.Now it open up *project output group dialog box* but now problem is this dialog box is empty and not allowing me to select service project. Users without role aren't returned. How can I modify the statement, to return me User with empty string in Roles column when User doesn't have any Role? Explanation: I'm passing the SQL data directly to a grid, which then formats itself, and it is easier for me to create slow and complicated view, than to format it in my code. I'm using MySQL

  I need to create a MySQL query that generates 4 rows for each row in the table it references. I need some of the information in those rows to repeat and some to be different. In the table each row stands for one day. I need to break the day up in 6 hour increments, hence the four rows for each entry. I need to create one column which for each day will have '12AM', '6AM', '12PM', and '6PM' values and another column will have the corresponding numeric values calculated for those entries. In MySQL, there are two problems: First, it insists that there be a table called Members_Preferences, as if this were a many-to-many relationship. Second, it just doesn't work: since it never populates Members_Preferences, it never retrieves the Preferences. [My theory is, since I only use HSQL in memory-mode, it automatically creates Members_Preferences and never really has to retrieve the preferences map. In any case, either Hibernate has a huge bug in it or I'm doing something wrong.]
