• Committing hunks from inside of git add -i?

  Is this possible? It would be nice if I didn't have to switch back and forth between git-add -i and git commit when breaking apart hunks into different commits. Is there a better way to do this? Or am I doing something wrong?

  In Fluent NHibernate, given an automapped component, is there a convention for setting up a parent reference back to the "holder" of the component? By having for example a property named Parent or something like that? I can't seem to find any information about how to do it or issues about it.

• request uri showing include path

  I am trying to get the URL from a function I wrote. But because the function is included into the file, its brining back the include path and not the url. Is there a work around? i should get /example.php but instead i get includes/url-logger.php this is done via $_SERVER['request_uri'] cheers

• Iterator has .next() - is there a way to get the previous element instead of the next one?

  I have an Iterator that I use on a HashMap, and I save and load the iterator. is there a way to get the previous key in the HashMap with Iterator? (java.util.Iterator) Update I save it as an attribute in a Red5 connection and then load it back to continue working where i stopped. Another update I'm iterating through the keyset of the HashMap

  I hope this isn't oo trivial question, but when I call System.Security.Principal.WindowsIdentity.GetCurrent().Name.ToString() I'm getting back a lower case user ID, but other dev's are getting an upper case user ID. How can I force ystem.Security.Principal.WindowsIdentity.GetCurrent().Name.ToString() to return an upper case string?

• Navigate HTML Source while performing WatiN tests

  I am performing actions on the page during WatiN tests. What is the neatest method for asserting certain elements are where they should be by evaluating the HTML source? I am scraping the source but looking for a clean way to navigate the tags pulled back. UPDATE: Right now I am thinking about grabbing certain elements within HTML source using regular expressions and then analysing that to see if other elements exist within. Other thoughts appreciated.

• Maintaining file permissions across SVN updates?

  I have a series of python scripts with execute permissions in Linux. They are stored in SVN. If I then run svn up to update them, the overwritten files are back to 644 - ie no execute permissions for anyone. Yes I could just script it to chmod +x * afterwards, but surely there's a way to store permissions in SVN or to maintain them when you update? Any suggestions appreciated.

• Rails and Python hosting problem

  I am trying to host some files/rails app in the port 8080 for external access. For python I am using the SimpleHTTPServer module, and for rails, webrick. However, both of them does not work very well. I don't get the response back, and, sometimes, if I get it, it's VERY slow. Nevertheless, apache works very well on the port 8080 (i am not running them at the same time). What is going on?

• IE8 disappearing image bug

  In IE8 (& maybe others), when I leave my page to go to another tab in IE and then come back to my page's tab, each time the cursor runs over an image it disappears until I refresh the page. I've heard of disappearing image bugs, but I couldn't find anything on this particular case, especially given this isn't a weird pre-IE8 bug. But when I use foreach it works perfect. Question Why is this like this? the SortBy is in the same model class as other fields in the view. The only difference is that SortBy is not being filled in the Index view with other fields, instead it's being filled in controller action. What is the explanation for this? Am I missing any C# definition or something such as dynamic objects or something?

• C++ static array leading to memory leak?

  Lets say I have something like... void foo() { char c[100]; printf("this function does nothing useful"); } When foo is called, it creates the array on the stack, and when it goes out of scope, is the memory deallocated automatically? Or is c destroyed, but the memory remains allocated, with no way to access it/get it back except restarting the computer?

  I was making multiple remote calls and they are done sequentially and when I am getting a result event back it's triggering calls to all the methods with ResultEvent as an argument . I am supposed to receive the result event only in the method given inthe event listener but it's triggering calls to all the methods with ResultEvent as an argument . • MySQL charset issue.

  I'm not sure exactly why this happened, but I'm assuming it was an dump and import. The db is full of characters like — for commas and such. I've tried various solutions on the web, but nothing seems to work. I've verified that the html header specifies utf8. Any ideas on how I can get the entire db back to normal characters?
