I have a wcf Service application in VS2010.My local machine is a 32 bit OS where as the server is a 64 bit. There are around 6 services in my solution. Im successfully able to host the application on IIS on my local machine.And it works fine. But when i try host that service application on Server i gets the below error Could not load file or assembly 'GMap.NET.Core' or one of its dependencies. An attempt was made to load a program with an incorrect format. I do have reference added in my solution for GMap.NET.Core . I have tried to set the properties in my solution to Any CPU . Also in the application pool i have set the Enable 32-Bit Application to True. i have also set the Copy Local to TRUE in my solution before publishing. When i run the source on through my solution i dont get any error and the solution is built successfully. What else can i try to get my services successfully hosted on the Server and should be accessed through my application.

Remote DLL Registration without access to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT

We have a legacy VB6 application that updates itself on startup by pulling down the latest files and registering the COM components. This works for both local (regsvr32) ActiveX COM Components and remote (clireg32) ActiveX COM components registered in COM+ on another machine. New requirements are preventing us from writing to HKEY_LOACL_MACHINE (HKLM) for security reasons, which is what obviously happens by default when calling regsvr32 and clireg32. We have come up with an way to register the local COM componet under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes (HKCU) using the RegOverridePredefKey Windows API method. This works by redirecting the inserts into the registry to the HKCU location. Then when the COM components are instantiated, windows first looks to HKCU before looking for component information in HKLM. This replaces what regsvr32 is doing. The problem we are experiencing at this time is when we attempt to register VBR / TLB using clireg32, this registration process also adds registration keys to HKEY_LOACL_MACHINE. Is there a way to redirect clireg32.exe to register component is HKEY_CURRENT_USER? Are there any other methods that would allow us to register these COM+ components on clients machine with limited security access? Our only solution at this time would be to manually write the registration information to the registry, but that is not ideal and would be a maint issue.

I'm having a lot of trouble trying to track down the cause of this error message. I have a large Visual Studio 2010 solution which compiles without error on my local machine but on the build server, msbuild fails on one of the projects with the error: fatal error CS0002: Unable to load message string from resources Here's the red error section at the end: Build FAILED. UPDATE I have just run msbuild /version on both machines and it turns out the .net framework versions are very slightly different. Local machine is 4.0.30319.488 and build server is 4.0.30319.1. I'm about to run windows update on the server to allow it to install some updates, as several seem to be .net framework-related, so I'll see if that makes a difference. UPDATE Installing the updates didn't help. Just remembered I copied up csc.exe from the async preview a little while ago in order to facilitate async compilation (the actual async preview had failed to install on the server due to visual studio not being there, but installing visual studio team viewer seems to have fixed that, so i've just run the proper async ctp3 installer to see if that makes a difference.

Java OutOfMemoryError due to Linux RAM disk cache not freed

The process will run fine all day, then, bam, without warning, it will throw this error. Sometimes seemingly in the middle of doing nothing. It will happen at seemingly random times during the day. I checked to see if anything else was running on the machine, like scheduled backups or something, but found nothing. The machine has enough physical memory (2GB, with about 1GB free for a 3-500MB load), and has sufficient -Xmx specified. According to our sysadmin, the problem is that the RAM that the kernel uses as a disk cache (apparently all but 8MB) is not freed when the JVM needs to allocate memory, so the JVM process throws an OutOfMemoryError. This could be because Java asks the kernel if enough memory is available before allocating and finds that it is insufficient, resulting in a crash. I would like to think, however, that Java simply tries to allocate the memory via the kernel, and when the kernel gets such a request, it makes room for the application by throwing our some of the disk cache. Has anyone else run in to the issue, and if so, what was the error, and how did you solve it? We are currently using jdk1.6.0_20 on SLES 10 SP2 Linux 2.6.16.60-0.42.9-smp in VMWare ESX.

Advice on optimzing speed for a Stored Procedure that uses Views

Based on a previous question and with a lot of help from Damir Sudarevic (thanks) I have the following sql code which works great but is very slow. Can anyone suggest how I can speed this up and optimise for speed. I am now using SQL Server Express 2008 (not 2005 as per my original question). What this code does is retrieves parameters and their associated values from several tables and rotates the table in a form that can be easily compared. Its great for one of two rows of data but now I am testing with 100 rows and to run GetJobParameters takes over 7 minutes to complete? Strategies for Accessing a Application with a COM API From PHP

Background: Experienced PHP developer with a mostly *nix background. I'm writing a PHP application that needs to interact with a proprietary 3rd party system. The 3rd party system is Windows only. The PHP application will be living on a separate Linux based system The 3rd party application has been described as having a "COM API" that I'll need to talk to from the PHP application. What does this look like architecturally speaking? I'm starting with the COM section of the PHP manual, but I have specific questions. Specific Questions: Can I talk directly to a COM API from a PHP application running on another server? If so, how? (what PHP extensions would I need, or what protocols/PHP functions would I be using to talk to the API) If the answer to number 2 is no, I'd assume I'd need some kind of application on the Windows machine that can talk to COM, and then a service on the windows machine I can hit with PHP. Are there prebuilt frameworks for this kind of thing? Is this all nonsense and/or did I say something exceedingly stupid? (Quite possible, as I'm a little fuzzy on what "COM" does and doesn't cover) I'm obviously not looking for a full solution here, I'm just trying to get a general idea of what is and isn't possible and what kind of things I'll want to Google for. I am working through the book Learning WCF by Michele Bustamante, and trying to do it using Visual Studio C# Express 2008. The instructions say to use WCF project and item templates, which are not included with VS C# Express. There are templates for these types included with Visual Studio Web Developer Express, and I've tried to copy them over into the right directories for VS C# Express to find, but the IDE doesn't find them. Is there some registration process? Or config file somewhere?

HTTP Error: 400 when sending msmq message over http

I am developing a solution which will utilize msmq to transmit data between two machines. Due to the seperation of said machines, we need to use HTTP transport for the messages. In my test environment I am using a Windows 7 x64 development machine, which is attempting to send messages using a homebrew app to any of several test machines I have control over. All machines are either windows server 2003 or server 2008 with msmq and msmq http support installed. For any test destination, I can use the following queue path name with success: FORMATNAME:DIRECT=TCP:[machine_name_or_ip]\private$\test_queue But for any test destination, the following always fails FORMATNAME:DIRECT=HTTP://[machine_name_or_ip]/msmq/private$/test_queue I have used all permutations of machine names/ips available. I have created mappings using the method described at this blog post. All result in the same HTTP Error: 400. Spidermonkey pointing to a NSPR/DIST directory, HELP!

Hey guys, I've been trying to cross-compile Spidermonkey and I am stuck with the problem wherein prtypes.h(NSPR) is unrecognizable. I alread triedy modifying Makefile.ref/config.mk/jsconfig.mk to point to a desired NSPR/DIS directory. I must have missed some basic steps because it still won't make things work. Do you have any ideas on how to properly modify the makefiles to point my spidermonkey to the right NSPR libraries? Thanks!

Create a SSL certificate on Windows

Hi all, Since I'm very new to SSL certificates, and the creation and usage of them I figured maybe StackOverflow members can help me out. I'm from Holland, the common way of online payments is by implementing iDEAL. An online payment protocol supported by the major banks. I have to implement a 'professional' version. This includes creating a RSA private key. Based on that key I have to create a certificate and upload it to the webserver. I'm on a Windows machine and completely confused what to do. I took a look at the OpenSSL website, because the manual forwarded me to that website to get a SSL Toolkit. The manual provides two commands which have to be executed in order to create a RSA key and a certificate. The commands are: openssl genrsa -des3 –out priv.pem -passout pass:myPassword 1024 and openssl req -x509 -new -key priv.pem -passin pass:myPassword -days 3650 -out cert.cer Is there a way I can do this by a utility on a windows machine? I've downloaded PuTTy KeyGenerator. But I'm not sure what to do, I've created a key (SSH-2 RSA, whatever that is..) but how do I create a certificate with that key? Any help is much appreciated! Ben

Using a .MDF SQL Server Database with ASP.NET Versus Using SQL Server

I'm currently writing a website in ASP.NET MVC, and my database (which doesn't have any data in it yet, it only has the correct tables) uses SQL Server 2008, which I have installed on my development machine. I connect to the database out of my application by using the Server Explorer, followed by LINQ to SQL mapping. Once I finish developing the site, I will move it over to my hosting service, which is a virtual hosting plan. I'm concerned about whether using the SQL Server setup that is currently working on my development machine will be hard to do on the production server, as I'll have to import all the database tables through the hosting control panel. I've noticed that it is possible to create a SQL Server database from inside Visual Studio. It is then stored in the App_Data directory. My questions are the following: Does it make sense to move my SQL Server DB out of SQL Server and into the App_Data directory as an .mdf file? If so, how can I move it? I believe this is called the Detach command, is it not? Are there any performance/security issues that can occur with a .mdf file like this? Would my intended setup work OK with a typical virtual hosting plan? I'm hoping that the .mdf database won't count against the limited number of SQL Server databases that can be created with my plan. I hope this question isn't too broad. Thanks in advance! Note: I'm just starting out with ASP.NET MVC and all this, so I might be completely misunderstanding how this is supposed to work.

Hello, I've set up two asp.net applications on a machine, their web.config files contain the same applicationName value in AspNetSqlMembershipProvider item so they share users and roles. The problem sequence is: user logs into application A, opens new tab in a browser logs into application B, his login in application A is signed out and vice versa. Should I use different approach to sharing login information between two applications? Thanks.

ASP.NET MVC hosting problem, routing, handlers and modules

Hi, This is one of them again, hosting with fasthosts. I recently purchased a windows developer package from them. When I tried to deploy my ASP.NET 3.5 MVC project, which was working fine with the same host on a reseller account, it is not working. The reason to move from reseller to a normal Windows Developer package is, the MS-SQL server database is too expensive in a reseller account, strange! I contact them, and they are saying they upgraded the control panel. The technical support said, I need to disable the Modules and Handlers from the web.config file. Also I need to deploy them as .dll files. I am not sure how to do that. The website is partially working now. I think the problem is now with the routing. I have not deployed any .dlls apart from the System.Web.Mvc.dll, System.Web.Routing.dll and System.Web.Abstractions.dll. I have not got a clue on how to deploy the Modules and Handlers. The code that I commented on the web.config file is as follows.  Anybody got any ideas please. Thank you for your time.
