  • WD MBWE II (White Strip Light) 2TB - unable to access data

    I have a WD MBWE II (White Strip Light) 2TB - (WD20000H2NC-00) Was working fine until a few days ago. I guess there was a power failure and after that I am unable to access the 'Public' or the 'Download' folder anymore. I have been searching for answers everywhere but came up empty handed. Web GUI still works, SSH works. I hooked up both the drives on my PC and UFS Explorer sees the drive. But so far I am unable to retrieve any of my data. I do not remember what RAID setting I used when I first got the drive. I can see from GUI that it is set as "Stripe". The drive contains 10 years of family pictures which I really do not want to loose. Sadly and stupidly, I didn't even keep a backup of this drive. Can somebody please help or point me in the right direction. Thank you in advance for your help. Disk Utility on Ubuntu reports 1405 bad sectors on one drive. How can I retrieve my data? Please help.   • WordPress not resizing images with Nginx + php-fpm and other issues

    Recently i setup a Ubuntu 12.04 VPS with 512mb/1ghz CPU, Nginx + php-fpm + Varnish + APC + Percona's MySQL server + CloudFlare Pro for our Ubuntu LoCo Team's WordPress blog. The blog get about 3~4k daily hits, use about 180MB and 8~20% CPU. Everything seems to be working insanely fast... page load is really good and is about 16x faster than any of our competitors... but there is one problem. When we upload a image, WordPress don't resize it, so all we can do it insert the full image in the post. If the imagem have, let's say, 30kb, it resize fine... but if the image have 100kb+, it won't... In nginx error logs i see this: upstream timed out (110: Connection timed out) while reading response header from upstream, client: 150.162.216.64, server: www.ubuntubrsc.com, request: "POST /wp-admin/async-upload.php HTTP/1.1", upstream: "fastcgi://unix:/var/run/php5-fpm.sock:", host: "www.ubuntubrsc.com", referrer: "http://www.ubuntubrsc.com/wp-admin/media-upload.php?post_id=2668&" It seems to be related with the issue, but i dunno.   • Autounattend.xml not being recognized in VirtualBox

    I am working my way through the steps on this page to prepare an unattended installation of Windows 7 Enterprise x64 for purposes of a college assignment which simply requires the process to be carried out and documented. Both the "technician" and "reference" computers are virtual machines created in VirtualBox 4.3.12, as will be the destination computer. I seem to have successfully completed Step 1, building an Autounattend.xml answer file using Windows System Image Manager, in as far as the answer file validates successfully. The problem arises when I try to install Windows on the reference machine from the DVD image in conjunction with the Autounattend file on a USB drive. I have tried a couple of different USB devices, and the devices themselves seem to be recognized, but the answer file does not, as instead of taking the configuration settings from the file the user interface appears as in a manual installation. Has anyone come across this problem or a solution?     I'm trying to port a piece of Java code into .NET that takes a Base64 encoded string, converts it to a byte array, and then uses it to make a X.509 certificate to get the modulus & exponent for RSA encryption. This is the Java code I'm trying to convert: byte[] externalPublicKey = Base64.decode("base 64 encoded string"); KeyFactory keyFactory = KeyFactory.getInstance("RSA"); EncodedKeySpec publicKeySpec = new X509EncodedKeySpec(externalPublicKey); Key publicKey = keyFactory.generatePublic(publicKeySpec); RSAPublicKey pbrtk = (java.security.interfaces.RSAPublicKey) publicKey; BigInteger modulus = pbrtk.getModulus(); BigInteger pubExp = pbrtk.getPublicExponent(); I've been trying to figure out the best way to convert this into .NET. So far, I've come up with this: byte[] bytes = Convert.FromBase64String("base 64 encoded string"); X509Certificate2 x509 = new X509Certificate2(bytes); RSA rsa = (RSA)x509.PrivateKey; RSAParameters rsaParams = rsa.ExportParameters(false); byte[] modulus = rsaParams.Modulus; byte[] exponent = rsaParams.Exponent; Which to me looks like it should work, but it throws an exception when I use the base 64 encoded string from the Java code to generate the X509 certificate. Is Java's X.509 implementation just incompatible with .NET's, or am I doing something wrong in my conversion from Java to .NET? Or is there simply no conversion from Java to .NET in this case?

    I'm developing a web application that will send emails on behalf of a logged-in user. I'm trying to use the new Gmail OAuth protocol announced described here to send these emails through the user's Gmail account (preferably using SMTP rather than IMAP, but I'm easy). However, the sample PHP code gives me a couple of problems. All of the sample code is based on IMAP, not SMTP. Why "support" the SMTP protocol if you're not going to show people how to use it? The sample code gives me a fatal error from an uncaught Zend exception -- it can't find the "INBOX" folder. (Specific reason can be found in the exception.) If no exception, then the credentials are good. Trying to do this in .NET 3.5 looks like it should be easy, but has me at a roadblock instead. Specifically, I've been working with this example: PrincipalContext domainContext = new PrincipalContext(ContextType.Domain, domain); using (domainContext) { return domainContext.ValidateCredentials(UserName, Password); } Unfortunately, this doesn't work for me as I don't have both ContextOptions set to Sealed/Secure and SSL (like I did above in the .NET 2.0 code.)     Hi, I'm just wondering if anybody can help me with my simple but frustrating problem. I have created an SWF that loads an XML file from http://localhost/flash/Projects/MEL/Quiz/Quiz/bin/xml/quiz.xml, but I get this error when running the movie using Test Movie in the Flash IDE.   • AWS Amazon EC2 - password-less SSH login for non-root users using PEM keypairs

    We've got a couple of clusters running on AWS (HAProxy/Solr, PGPool/PostgreSQL) and we've setup scripts to allow new slave instances to be auto-included into the clusters by updating their IPs to config files held on S3, then SSHing to the master instance to kick them to download the revised config and restart the service. It's all working nicely, but in testing we're using our master pem for SSH which means it needs to be stored on an instance. Not good. I want a non-root user that can use an AWS keypair who will have sudo access to run the download-config-and-restart scripts, but nothing else. rbash seems to be the way to go, but I understand this can be insecure unless setup correctly. No thumbnails are generated. But there is also no exception thrown. I placed the gsdll32.dll in the system32-folder of windows xp. The Ghostscript Runtime is installed too. I have given full access in the IIS-Webproject (.Net 2.0). Does anybody know why i can't access Ghostscript from my webapplication?   • Unable to debug WCF service in VS2008 after UserNamePasswordValidator fault

    Hi! I have a WCF service that I secure with a custom UserNamePasswordValidator and Message security running over wsHttpBinding. The release code works great. Unfortunately, when I try to run in debug mode after having previously used invalid credentials (the current credentials ARE valid!) VS2008 displays an annoying dialog box (more on this below). A simplified version of my Validate method from the validator might look like the following: public override void Validate(string userName, string password) { if (password != "ABC123") throw new FaultException("The password is invalid!"); } The client receives a MessageSecurityException with InnerException set to the FaultException I explictly threw. This is workable since my client can display the message text of the original FaultException I wanted the user to see. Unfortunately, in all subsequent service calls VS2008 displays an "Unable to automatically debug..." dialog. The only way I can stop this from happening is to exit VS2008, get back in and connect to my service using correct credentials. I should also add that this occurs even when I create a brand new proxy on each and every call. There's no chance MY channel is faulted when I make a call. Its likely, however, that VS2008 hangs on to the previously faulted channel and tries to use it for debugging purposes. Needless to say, this sucks! The entire reason I'm entering "bad" credentials is to test the "bad-credential" handling. Anyway, if anyone has any ideas as to how I can get around this bug (?!?) I'd be very very appreciative....

  • iPhone: Software Development And Distribution

    I have a few quick questions about the iPhone software development. I did some research about the topic, but there are a few specific things I would like to ask here, because I will have to estimate the cost of the required hardware and software, before I am allowed to buy anything. I never did any Mac development nor have I ever owned an iPhone, so needless to say this is quite hard for me. I will buy an iMac mini with 2 GB RAM for iPhone development. I will have to use it at the same time as my regular PC, but the majority of the time I won't use the Mac at all. Do I have to buy an additional monitor, a mouse and a keyboard or is there a better solution? I will have to port a C library to the iPhone platform and develop an iPhone application that uses the ported library. Do I need anything else than the iPhone SDK to do this? If I use an external library (see above), can I test the application with the integrated emulator, or is it recommend to buy the device? In a later phase of the project I will have to buy an iPhone, but I will have to wait until the iPhone 4 is released here in Europe, because the application requires a camera. In addition to this I will have to send data to a remote webservice. Aside from these two things I don't require any other features. Can I just buy the iPhone online from another country (the iPhones here are sim locked), or should I buy one with a contract? When the application is ready, it will be installed on a few iPhones owned by our customer. Because of security reasons it is crucial that there is no third party involved in this process (i.e. the application should not be distributed on the app store). Is this possible?

It's our application, but we're trying to specifically replicate a customer's installation so the app folder has been copied entirely from their production server onto our test machine, and then we've created the Virtual Directory and Web Application for IIS manually. The problem I have is that when we access the app, we get the standard IIS security error message: The page cannot be displayed You have attempted to execute a CGI, ISAPI, or other executable program from a directory that does not allow programs to be executed. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Please try the following: •Contact the Web site administrator if you believe this directory should allow execute access. HTTP Error 403.1 - Forbidden: Execute access is denied. Internet Information Services (IIS) Now this is pretty standard, except as far as I can see it's not anything so simple. I have checked: IIS user has read access to the directory IIS user and Network Service users have read/write access to the Temporary ASP.NET Files folder Virtual directory is set to the correct version of ASP.NET ASP.NET 1.1 Web Service Extension is allowed Virtual directory has the correct mappings of file extensions and all verbs to the aspnet 1.1 DLL Virtual directory properties allow Scripts and Executables to be run Anonymous access is turned on and the username and password is correct What am I missing?

  • Logging Into a site that uses Live.com authentication with C#

    I've been trying to automate a log in to a website I frequent, www.bungie.net. The site is associated with Microsoft and Xbox Live, and as such makes uses of the Windows Live ID API when people log in to their site. I am relatively new to creating web spiders/robots, and I worry that I'm misunderstanding some of the most basic concepts. I've simulated logins to other sites such as Facebook and Gmail, but live.com has given me nothing but trouble. Anyways, I've been using Wireshark and the Firefox addon Tamper Data to try and figure out what I need to post, and what cookies I need to include with my requests. As far as I know these are the steps one must follow to log in to this site. 1. Visit https: //login.live.com/login.srf?wa=wsignin1.0&rpsnv=11&ct=1268167141&rver=5.5.4177.0&wp=LBI&wreply=http:%2F%2Fwww.bungie.net%2FDefault.aspx&id=42917 2. Recieve the cookies MSPRequ and MSPOK. 3. Post the values from the form ID "PPSX", the values from the form ID "PPFT", your username, your password all to a changing URL similar to: https: //login.live.com/ppsecure/post.srf?wa=wsignin1.0&rpsnv=11&ct= (there are a few numbers that change at the end of that URL) 4. Live.com returns the user a page with more hidden forms to post. The client then posts the values from the form "ANON", the value from the form "ANONExp" and the values from the form "t" to the URL: http ://www.bung ie.net/Default.aspx?wa=wsignin1.0 5. After posting that data, the user is returned a variety of cookies the most important of which is "BNGAuth" which is the log in cookie for the site. Where I am having trouble is on fifth step, but that doesn't neccesarily mean I've done all the other steps correctly. I post the data from "ANON", "ANONExp" and "t" but instead of being returned a BNGAuth cookie, I'm returned a cookie named "RSPMaybe" and redirected to the home page. When I review the Wireshark log, I noticed something that instantly stood out to me as different between the log when I logged in with Firefox and when my program ran. It could be nothing but I'll include the picture here for you to review. I'm being returned an HTTP packet from the site before I post the data in the fourth step. I am trying to retrieve a list of clients from the server (server using fluentNHibernate). Anyway, after adding the UseNetSerializer that error went away, yet now I'm just not getting anything. Oh PS. if I add all the commented out List items, I still retrieve an entry from the DB, but also still not receive anything on the client. if I remove the [UseNetDataContractSerializer] I get the following error(s) in the svclog : WARNING: Description Faulted System.ServiceModel.Channels.ServerSessionPreambleConnectionReader+ServerFramingDuplexSessionChannel WARNING: Description Faulted System.ServiceModel.Channels.ServiceChannel ERROR: Initializing[eCows.Data.Models.Client#3]-failed to lazily initialize a collection of role: eCows.Data.Models.Client.Addresses, no session or session was closed ... ERROR: Could not find default endpoint element that references contract 'ILogbookManager' in the ServiceModel client configuration section. This might be because no configuration file was found for your application, or because no endpoint element matching this contract could be found in the client element. If I add a .Not.LazyLoad to the List mapping items, I'm back at not receiving errors, but also not receiving any client information.. Sigh! I am passing several Select statements, so the dataset contains multiple tables. I replaced $DataSet.Tables[0] with for ($i=0;$i -lt $DataSet.tables.count;$i++){ $Dataset.Tables[$i] } but the console only shows the content of the first table and blank lines for each records of what should be the second table. The only way to see the result is to change the code to $Dataset.Tables[$i] | out-string but I do not want strings, I want to have table objects to work with. When I assign what is returned by the Invoke-SQLCommand to a variable, I can see that I have an array of datarow objects but only from the first table. What happened to the second table? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

  • MVC2 Apps (and others) sharing WCF services and authentication

    Hi, I've seen several similar scenarios explained here but not my particular one. I wonder if someone could tell me which direction to go in? I am developing two (and more later) MVC2 apps. There will also be another (thicker) client later on (WPF or Silverlight, TBD). These all need to share the same authentication. For the MVC2 apps they (preferably) need to be single log on - ie if a user logs in to one MVC2 app, they should be authorised on the other, as long as the cookie hasn't timed out. Forms authentication is to be used. All the apps need to use common business functionality and perform db access via a common WCF Service App. It would be nice (I think) if the WCF is not publicly accessible (ie blocked behind FW). The thicker client could use an additional service layer to access the Common WCF App. What this should look like is: MVCApp1 - WCFAppCommon MVCApp2 - WCFAppCommon ThickClient - WCFApp2 - WCFAppCommon Is it possible to carry out all the authentication/authorization in the WCFAppCommon? Otherwise I think I'll have to repeat all the security logic in the MVCApps and WCFApp2, whereas, to me, it seems to sit naturally in WCFAppCommon. On the otherhand, it seems if I authenticate/authorize in WCFAppCommon, I wouldn't be able to use Forms Authentication. Where I've seen possible solutions (that I haven't tried yet) they seem much more complex than Forms Authentication and a single DB. Any help appreciated, Phil

  • Handling async ASMX web service exceptions

    Hi, I've developed silverlight client with makes async web services calls to a asmx web service. The problem is, I want to handle exceptions, so far as to be able to tell in the client application whether there was an exception in the webservice (and therefore will be logged local to the webservice) or whether there was a communication problem (i.e. the endpoint for the webservice was wrong). In testing both types of exceptions in my project I get the same generic exception: System.ServiceModel.CommunicationException: The remote server returned an error: NotFound. This exception is amazingly useless when an exception occured in the webservice as it clearly has been found. Is the presence of this generic error to do with security (not being allowed to see true errors)? It can't be the fact that I don't have debug strings as I'm running on a dev PC. Either way, my question is, what's the best way to handle async errors in a commercial silverlight application? Any links or ideas are most welcome! :) Thanks a lot! Andy.
