• How to check whether the form has any ShowDialog() forms open?

  I have a form MainForm with several properties/methods that are accessed from another thread. At some point I might open a form AuxForm with ShowDialog() and then while that modal form is open, the other thread still modifies the MainForm's properties. This is all desired. In one of the methods accessed from another thread I need to execute some code, but only if the modal AuxForm is not open. Is there any way to check this (by using .NET WF Form properties) or I need to use a flag variable? NOTE: None of these properties/methods modify the controls (so no Invoke is required).

  Here this is what we are doing:-- an_order = Order.new an_order.name = "Dave Thomas" an_order.email = "[email protected]" an_order.address = "123 Main St" an_order.pay_type = "check" an_order.save Now it will insert a new row in orders table right. I m having a ID column in that table. Now suppose after inserting this record the value of the ID corresponding to this record is 100. Now how this 100 value came to know? Does the previous value of ID ie 99 (Suppose) is stored somewhere in some variable/file in the ORM layer or before inserting this value a query was fired to know about the last inserted value or database is itself doing that or anything else???

• Using NSURLRequest+NSURLConnection seems overkill for a webcall with no data return

  All, This might seems very straightforward but I have already gone through the URL loading system program guide and the various NSURL.... classes and not found my answer. I am just trying to do a simple call from the app to a website to reserve a party spot: NSString *path=[NSString stringWithFormat:@"http://www.myparty123.com/ireservedURL.asp?Nickname=%@&Seat=%i&Email=%@&Currentparty=%i",john,5432,[email protected],6598]; NSURL* reservationURL =[NSURL URLWithString:path]; NSData *call= [NSData dataWithContentsOfURL:reservationURL]; This seemed to be the simple way but I get this warning that I am not using the "call" variable. And it seems overkill to do a call using NSData where there is no data return. Yet, creating an NSURLRequest and initiating an NSURLConnection and then implementing delegates with that request seems to be overkill as well. What am I missing. Thanks KMB

• Can "\Device\NamedPipe\\Win32Pipes" handles cause "Too many open files" error?

  Continuing from this question: When I am trying to do fopen on Windows, I get a "Too many open files" error. I tried to analyze, how many open files I have, and seems like not too much. But when I executed Process Explorer, I noticed that I have many open handles with similar names: "\Device\NamedPipe\Win32Pipes.00000590.000000e2", "\Device\NamedPipe\Win32Pipes.00000590.000000e3", etc. I see that the number of these handles is exactly equal to the number of the iterations that my program executed, before it returned "Too many open files" and stopped. I am looking for an answer, what are these handles, and could they actually cause the "Too many open files" error? In my program I am loading files from remote drive, and I am creating TCP/IP connections. Could one of these operations create these handles?

  How can I make xargs execute the command exactly once for each line of input given? It's default behavior is to chunk the lines and execute the command once, passing multiple lines to each instance. From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xargs: find /path -type f -print0 | xargs -0 rm In this example, find feeds the input of xargs with a long list of file names. xargs then splits this list into sublists and calls rm once for every sublist. This is more efficient than this functionally equivalent version: find /path -type f -exec rm '{}' \; I know that find has the "exec" flag. I am just quoting an illustrative example from another resource.

  Hello everyone. I'll cut right to the chase. Right now I am developing a web based application. It has a PHP REST based architecture that serves up XML documents. On many of these documents attributes are hex encoded picture strings. On the client side jQuery AJAX fetches an XML document with a picture in it. I need to display said picture in some <img> tags. However my knowledge on such methods is lacking so here I am asking for help. Goal: JavaScript String variable in hex or base64 HTML displayed image. • Emailing HTML from within an iPhone app is stopping at special characters

  Hi, I have an iPhone app that will let users email some pre-determined text as HTML. I'm having a problem in that if the text contains special characters within the text (e.g., ampersand &, , <), the NSString variable that I use for sending the body of the email gets truncated at the special character. I'm not sure how to fix this (I tried using the method stringByAddingPercentEscapesUsingEncoding…but this hasn't fixed the problems). Thoughts on what I'm doing wrong / how to fix it?   I am weak in SQL and need some help working through some logic with my proc. Three pieces: store procedure, table1, table2 Table 1 stores most recent data for specific IDs Customer_id status_dte status_cde app_dte 001 2010-04-19 Y 2010-04-19 Table 2 stores history of data for specific customer IDs: For example: Log_id customer_Id status_dte status_cde 01 001 2010-04-20 N 02 001 2010-04-19 Y 03 001 2010-04-19 N 04 001 2010-04-19 Y The stored proecure currently throws an error if the status date from table1 is < than app_date in table1. If @status_dte < app_date Error Note: @status_dte is a variable stored as the status_dte from table1 However, I want it to throw an error when the EARLIEST status_dte from table 2 with a status_cde of 'Y' is less than the app_dte column in table 1. Keep in mind that this earliest date is not stored anywhere, the history of data changes per customer. Another customer might have the following history. • Sign in as different user when using Integrated Windows Authentication

  I have restricted access to a site by using Integrated Windows Authentication and turning off anonymous access. This way I can then show them their real name (from looking up on Active Directory and using the server variable LOGON_USER) and do other related Active Directory tasks. How can I then prompt again for their user credentials, through a 'sign in as other user' link , showing the browser prompt (like you would get on a browser like Chrome or Firefox, or if the site was not in the 'Intranet' zone in IE) rather than a Web Form? Since SharePoint offers this functionality, I assume there is a way to do this through code, but I don't know what code can do this (using C#). I can send a 401 header which makes the prompt appear, but how do you then confirm if they are logged in?

• What signing method to use for public open-source projects?

  I'm publishing an open-source library on CodePlex, and want the dll files to have strong names so that they can be added to GAC. What's the best option for signing? Should I use SNK? If so, everyone have access to the key. I don't have a problem with everyone having access, but is it a good approach? Should I use PFX? If so, does it mean that other people downloading the source code are not able to build the solution? What I like to do is that I am the only one person to have access to the key, so that the signed assemblies also have a level of authenticity, but meanwhile don't prevent other developers to download, build, or change the source code for themselves, and be able to post changes for the main project.

• Obtaining references to function objects on the execution stack from the frame object?

  Given the output of inspect.stack(), is it possible to get the function objects from anywhere from the stack frame and call these? If so, how? (I already know how to get the names of the functions.) Here is what I'm getting at: Let's say I'm a function and I'm trying to determine if my caller is a generator or a regular function? I need to call inspect.isgeneratorfunction() on the function object. And how do you figure out who called you? inspect.stack(), right? So if I can somehow put those together, I'll have the answer to my question. Perhaps there is an easier way to do this?

• gdb: SIGTRAP on std::string::c_str() call

  So I've been trying to use gdb to return the value of a string I have by calling > print <member variable name>.c_str() But everytime I do so, I get this: Program received signal SIGTRAP, Trace/breakpoint trap. <some address> in std::string::c_str() from /usr/lib/libstdc++.so.6 GDB remains in the frame where the signal was received. To change this behavior use "set unwindonsignal on" Evaluation of the expression containing the function (std::string::c_str() const) will be abandoned. Two questions: Why/how is the standard library throwing SIGTRAP? I checked basic_string.h and c_str() is defined as: const _CharT* c_str() const { return _M_data(); } I don't see any SIGTRAP-throwing here... is there a way to get around this SIGTRAP? How can I read the text value of the std::string out (without getting some crazy extension library) in gdb?

  I am trying to read in a series of tab delimited text files into existing MySQL tables. I echo out the code, paste it into a MySQL editor and it runs fine, it just won't execute from the PHP script. What am I doing wrong?? Si

  I have a function inside of a Helper in Magento that returns whether or not a customer attribute equals one. Here is my Helper class class Nie_Nie_Helper_Data extends Mage_Core_Helper_Abstract { public function isNieAdmin() { if(Mage::getSingleton('customer/session')->getCustomer()->getNieAdmin() == 1) { return true; } else { return false; } } } Now when I call this function from a class that extends Mage_Core_Block_Template, everything seems to work fine. However when I try to use this inside one of my controllers, it does not work. In fact when I do Mage::getSingleton('customer/session')-getCustomer()-debug() the only variable that is returned is the website_id. Does anyone know what I have to do in order to get this to work? • How can I easily pass all the variables from a template to a partial in Symfony with output escaping

  It there an easy way to pass all the variables a template file has access to onto a partial when I have output escaping on? I tend to create a template file, then refactor things into a partial at some point and it would seem that there would be an easy way to just pass all the same variables from the template to the partial and be done with it. I have output escaping on and I can't just pass in $sf_data. It look like calling a partial from within another partial is very simple...just pass in the variable $vars.

Is there a way to include some sort of configuration or variable defined either in my build.properties for the environment or in a spring custom context properties file that assists the bean xml to determine which triggers should be included in the list? That way, for example, AwesomeTrigger would be called in development but not qa.

  Hey, I've written a function to copy any variable type into a byte vector, however whenever I insert something it gets inserted in reverse. Here's the code. template <class Type> void Packet::copyToByte(Type input, vector<uint8_t>&output) { copy((uint8_t*) &input, ((uint8_t*) &input) + sizeof(Type), back_inserter(output)); } Now whenever I add for example a uint16_t with the value 0x2f1f it gets inserted as 1f 2f instead of the expected 2f 1f.   Hey Guys I am doing project on java. In one of the class, I am working on jtable. Now what i am doing is, In the table data will be loaded from the database. Now i want to change some value at some exact row and column. so for that i am using jtable's setValue function. which is like this.... grayCardTbl.setValueAt(Float.valueOf(String.valueOf(pdiff)),1,4); I have checked the "pdiff" variable, it is perfect. i had total 5 columns and 10 rows. So now problem with rowindex and column index. and after this i have also refresh the table. but still it is not reflecting on table.
