  • m2eclipse and WTP and adding local project source

    Hi, I have a spring mvc project in eclipse, and its setup to use maven. I can resolve all my external dependencies, but now I want to include another local project in my workspace. Normally, I would do this through the java build path, and add a project reference. But if I do that manually, m2eclipse just removes those references from my classpath file. I'm assuming this is because maven wants to handle all dependencies. So I enable dependency management on the local project (the source files i want to include), and now when I add dependencies, this project shows up, and it adds it as a jar type (which is correct). I also ran maven-package to create a snapshot of the source project. But the jar is never added in the maven library list, and the project doesn't build because it can't find the classes. What am I doing wrong? Thanks for the help!

  • Comparison of the multiprocessing module and pyro?

    I use pyro for basic management of parallel jobs on a compute cluster. I just moved to a cluster where I will be responsible for using all the cores on each compute node. (On previous clusters, each core has been a separate node.) The python multiprocessing module seems like a good fit for this. I notice it can also be used for remote-process communication. If anyone has used both frameworks for remote-process communication, I'd be grateful to hear how they stack up against each other. The obvious benefit of the multiprocessing module is that it's built-in from 2.6. Apart from that, it's hard for me to tell which is better.

  • Too late to become a programmer?

    Hi, Working in IT for 5 years, I focused on system integration - testing, performance tests and analysis, automation etc. Altough I am working for one of the biggest IT companies, I have the possibility to come up with my own ideas and realize them - for example I have written C# (with SQL backend) bugtracker application with management elements...and I really liked it. I am very creative person but being 25 y/o, I am wondering whether it is too late. I understand the logic of programming but as I was never very good in math I assume I have no chance to become professional programmer in this age. What do you think? Thanks

I am using SQL Server Express 2008 at home, and I've been working on an ASP.NET MVC app that stores my DB in an mdf file in the project's folder. The problem is that the SQL Server in the Uni labs is SQL Server 2005, and when I try to open the mdf file with the VS Server Explorer,It says that the version of the mdf file is more than the server can accept. The only option that comes to my mind is exporting the DB as an sql file, just like I've done it thousand times with phpmyadmin. the thing is that the SQL Management Studio Express is not the most usable tool in the world, and for some strange reason all the articles I could find in Google were irrelevant. Please, help.

It also has very nice buildout based installation. Also core Components of it seem to be nicely decoupled. Does anyone have any experiences with it yet? How much one can customize it with extensions? How's extension development in general compared to Drupal or Plone? I'm hoping that I could do some projects with it instead of Plone or Drupal.     I'm setting up a net.tcp WCF service using instructions here: http://blogs.msdn.com/swiss_dpe_team/archive/2008/02/08/iis-7-support-for-non-http-protocols.aspx One of the steps says to do the following: "If you open the IIS7 management console and you look at the advance setting of our IIS7HostedService Web Application, you will see that in the Enabled Protocols section just http is defined. You now have to add net.tcp (separated by a comma), so that our service will be able to respond also to TCP requests." This is fine, but what if I want to use the Cassini / VS2010 ASP.NET development server to debug (hitting F5 or cntrl-F5)? I don't think there's a way to change the settings in that IIS. Or is there? Are other programmers just so awesome that they don't need to go through the debugger? Or do they use wsHttpBinding?

    Hi guys, I have a problem with Visual C# 2008 express (SP1) connecting to SQL Server 2008 express. The "Add Connection" window (wherever initiated) doesn't list existing sql server and no option for sql server except a compact edition. Note that, I've got the VWD 2008 express (SP1) on the same machine which shows the window regularly (with SQL server listed) and SQL Server Management studio works fine with the server as well. I've seen other similar posts, did take some advices: reinstalled the VC#, services run ok, etc... but with no success with VC# so far. Again, on the same machine the VWD shows the dialog with sql server option regularly, but VC# shows only 3 options in "Change data source" dialog (1. Microsoft Access Database File (OLE DB) 2.   • Django auth without "auth_*" tables

    We would like to use our own tables for user management instead of the Django "auth" tables. We already have database tables that include all of the relevant information our application needs but it isn't in the Django format. We would prefer not to have the information duplicated in two tables. We would like to utilize the auth package, though, as there is some very nice functionality that we don't want to replicate. I realize we could build our own auth backend, but that doesn't, as far as I can tell, remove the need for two sets of tables in this case. Am I correct in assuming that we cannot do this? I have found no docs that discuss how to modify the underlying model that the auth package is using. The backend simply pre-populates the user object that would eventually be saved in the auth tables. Thanks!

However, PublishInternalException is both protected and internal so I would have to be implementing ExceptionManager, not IExceptionPublisher, to access it.

  • Difference between performSelectorInBackground and NSOperation Subclass

    I have created one testing app for running deep counter loop. I run the loop fuction in background thread using performSelectorInBackground and also NSOperation subclass separately. I am also using performSelectorOnMainThread to notify main thread within backgroundthread method and [NSNotificationCenter defaultCenter] postNotificationName within NSOperation subclass to notify main thread for updating UI. Initially both the implementation giving me same result and i am able to update UI without having any problem. The only difference i found is the Thread count between two implementations. The performSelectorInBackground implementation created one thread and got terminated after loop finished and my app thread count again goes to 1. The NSOperation subclass implementation created two new threads and keep exists in the application and i can see 3 threads after loop got finished in main() function. So, my question is why two threads created by NSOperation and why it didn't get terminated just like the first background thread implementation? I am little bit confuse and unable to decide which implementation is best in-terms of performance and memory management. Thanks

  • my jQuery codes suspected to fail on IE 7

    I have received numerous calls from users lately, stating that they are not able to access the conference sites with IE7. These sites are created from a template, and they are managed on Joomla. Previously on other sites, there have no problems or complaints. However, with the recent complaints , I suspect that the culprit is my simple jQuery codes since the sites that have been reported have been created recently and incorporated with jQuery features.     Hi, I'm gonna add authorization, user and groups management to my application, basically... you will can define a set of permissions for a concrete user or group. For example, you could specify whom can use a concrete resource. So I want to ensure that my assumptions about ACLs are right: A basic rule could be "Grant", "Deny", "NoSet". User permissions have priority over group permissions. "Deny" statement has priority over "Grant". For example, user "u1" belongs to group "A", the resource "X" has this ACL "u1:grant,A:deny" user "u1" should be able to access the resource, shouldn't it? If a resource has no ACL set... does it means that anyone can access it? should I provide a default ACL? Any document about ACL in a general way? Cheers.

    Hi guys I have a google apps account set up and even set up a simple hello world application from the available samples on the tutorial however I need to set it so I am able to interact with the google docs account associated with the account which has added my application. To interact with google docs I am aware that a token is requested from google upon authentication and verification of the account however that is in a situation where you code specifically for interacting with google docs - I'm talking about having access to the google docs of the account which has added my application so my application can be used to upload documents to the google docs and make references to them - basically my application is a resource management application and it needs to be able to store references to google docs.

    Hi all Our ASp.net applications getting error as below" [DBNETLIB][ConnectionOpen (Connect()).]SQL Server does not exist or access denied " But i can connect with Enterprise manager management studio and Query analaizer with out any issue. It was running these applications with out any issue long time. last one week we are getting this error.If we restart the server .it works then it will come again after 3to 4 hours.
