• Cakephp Autoconvert find() fields?

  In cake php I can grab a model's fields by using the find() method. What if I wish to apply a transformation function to the fields? Is there a way to directly accomplish this task? Suppose I have a model called RaceTime with the fields racerId and timeMillis RaceTime +------------+ | Field | +------------+ | id | | racerId | | timeMillis | +------------+ timeMillis is an int specifying how long the race took in milliseconds. Obviously saying a race took 15651 milliseconds isn't very useful to a human reader, and I would wish to convert this to a human readable format. Is there a way to accomplish this directly in find()? Or is the only option to loop through the results after find() finishes?

  I have multiple templates which differs with each other only by few containers. The most complex one contains superset of all containers used in all other one thus to avoid creating multiple templates I created the most complex one in following format some layout stuff (div and all) defining nested insert for each container and content. Now in client template based on what is needed I turn off container which is not needed as else if container is needed, just define content as doSomething Please let me know if you guys see any issues with this approach, any potential problem or alternate approach for similar scenario. thanks a lot. • Is there a TextWriter interface to the System.Diagnostics.Debug class?

  I'm often frustrated by the System.Diagnostics.Debug.Write/WriteLine methods. I would like to use the Write/WriteLine methods familiar from the TextWriter class, so I often write Debug.WriteLine("# entries {0} for connection {1}", countOfEntries, connection); which causes a compiler error. I end up writing Debug.WriteLine(string.Format("# entries {0} for connection {1}", countOfEntries, connection)); which is really awkward. Does the CLR have a class deriving from TextWriter that "wraps" System.Debug, or should I roll my own?

• Saving PHP Table as CSV

  I have been looking everywhere for a way to do this. There are a lot of people that have asked the questions but when I try myself i cant seem to get it to work. Often I get the format correct but it inputs the information into a new page instead of saving it. I did manage to get one to work for google chrome but when i ran it in internet explorer it didnt work. I have a table being created from a MYSQL query and i would like the table to be able to be saved as a CSV. Could anyone help me out?

  Hi all: I am working on The ausdcf.org to try adding several banner ads in swf format to the top. Everything starts to work, but I've got several questions that need your help: The client chose not to go with Google AdManager, but prefer a "minimal approach" to do this task. What I am trying to do is sort of "mimicking" the way Google AdManager does for banners, that is, to split the chance of each particular swf to be shown to the visitor evenly among the banner collection. Definitely I can add some jQuery code to do this from client-side, a random number generator and if-else statement would work - just $.load() it! However, what if I'd like to make sure those disabled Javascript (is there any now btw?) still be able to see different swfs in each visit. Any suggestion on how to approach this? • Create "INSERT" statements from mySQL database in Java

  Does anyone know of any good libraries or scripts out there which will allow me to point to any mySQL table and automatically get a list of all the INSERT statements for the data in the table? DdlUtils allows me to create an XML file from a database model but I would like to have it in INSERT statements format and preferably the ability to choose a couple of tables instead of dumping the entire database.   Im setting up a web form, and I'm trying to have it where visitors can paste their resumes into a text area. Then I want to email the info using php mail(). But the resume info is just stored in the variable as one long string with no formatting. Is there a way I can send the pasted resume text to the client in the resume format? Maintaining all the line breaks and stuff? He wants to avoid having people upload resumes.

  AFAIK, java Date type is independent from Timezone which means that it represents specific moment of time as long typed value. I found really weird thing here. This is the original value i tried to insert. (http-0.0.0.0-9080-4) 1352955600000 <-- long integer. (http-0.0.0.0-9080-4) Thu Nov 15 00:00:00 EST 2012 <-- User Friendly Format. After i finished inserting into Oracle 11g database, the value has changed! (http-0.0.0.0-9080-4) 1352952000000 (http-0.0.0.0-9080-4) Wed Nov 14 23:00:00 EST 2012 How could this happen?? The more weird thing is it only happens specific environments such as Jboss. I'm currently using below environments. java 1.6 ibatis 2.34 jboss-5.1 (server) tomcat 6.0 (local) oracle 11g Is there anybody who can give me a clue or link to be helpful? it really bugging me!!

  The use case is simple. I allow users to enter in an expiration field which needs to be between 1 and 15 into a form. The model takes that number and converts it into a datetime (such as adding 15 days from today) and stores it in the database. What's the correct way to actually validate that though? Do I validate against the datetime format that gets persisted in the database or the select box (1..15) that the user gets to pick through the form? I want to be able to validate that the user is putting in 1..15.. How is this done with ActiveRecord validation in Rails 2.3.5?

• How to reduce latency of data sent through a REST api

  I have an application which obtains data in JSON format from one of our other servers. The problem I am facing is, there is is significant delay when when requesting for this information. Since a lot of data is passed (approx 1000 records per request where each record is pretty huge) is there a way that compression would help reducing the speed. If so which compression scheme would you recommend. I read on another thread that they pattern of data also matters a lot on they type of compression that needs to be used. The pattern of data is consistent and resembles the following :desc=>some_description :url=>some_url :content=>some_content :score=>some_score :more_attributes=>more_data Can someone recommend a solution to how I could reduce this delay. They delay is approx 6-8 seconds. I'm using Ruby on Rails to develop this application and the server providing the data uses Python for the most part.

  I am currently using RedBean version 3.5. I think I would like to move to the latest version of RedBean, version 4. I have found no documentation about upgrade process and have a number of significant questions: Is my RedBean 3.5 database schema compatible 4, or will up have to migrate all of the tables to some new format? Is any of my RedBean 3.5 code compatible with version 4, or wouldI need to rewrite all of my code that uses RedBean 3.5? Would it make more sense to upgrade to Doctrine? As a side note, I am also feeling concerned about RedBean's drop of support for Composer, which I have found to be über helpful in managing the various versions of libraries I am using.

• Creating a JSONRepresentation of my NSDictionary messes up the order?

  Hi all, To pass data to my webservice, I create an NSDictionary with the objects and keys I need, and use JSONRepresentation to format it nicely so I can post it to my service. It all worked fine with the previous version where only 2 parameters were required. An array with listitems, and a UDID. No I also need to pass a version number because we need to provide more data for people with the application at this new version. Only problem is when I create my JSONRepresentation now, the order of things are all messed up. NSMutableDictionary *rowDict = [[NSMutableDictionary alloc] initWithObjectsAndKeys:arrayDict,@"basketListV2",sharedData.udid,@"UDID",@"1.4",@"version",nil]; It prints out version first, then UDID and then basketListV2. Anyone know what I can do to maintain the order of my NSDict? I tried both NSDictionary and NSMutableDictionary (Probably doesn't have to do anything with it but for testing purposes I had to try it.) Thanks in advance. Lewion

What is the proper format to add the comment.id into the table rows? I need the ID from both tables for display, edit and delete further on in the table. The only display I get at this time for "comment.id" is the word id. The Any help would be appreciated.

  If you try to compile the query below in Visual Basic .NET, it fails. From x In {1, 2} Select x.ToString() The error given by the compiler is: Range variable name cannot match the name of a member of the 'Object' class. There is nothing wrong with the equivalent C# query, though: from x in new[]{1, 2} select x.ToString() This does not happen with the ToString overload that takes a format (it is a member of Int32, not Object). It does happen with other members of Object, as long as they don't take an argument: with GetType and GetHashCode it fails; with Equals(object) it compiles. Why is this restriction in place, and what alternatives can I use?
