  • Converting a C++ Checksum function to Java

    - by user1897599
    I'm trying to convert this C++ checksum to Java but for the time being I've failed. What am I doing wrong? What is it supposed to do? It is supposed to return a positive checksum for a buffer in OpenGL Here's the C part. DWORD QuickChecksum(DWORD *data, int size){ if(!data) { return 0x0; } DWORD sum; DWORD tmp; sum = *data; for(int i = 1; i < (size/4); i++) { tmp = data[i]; tmp = (DWORD)(sum >> 29) + tmp; tmp = (DWORD)(sum >> 17) + tmp; sum = (DWORD)(sum << 3) ^ tmp; } return sum; } And here is what I have tried in Java. As far As I know DWORD is 32bit so I use int in a long to get a unsigned int which should be done in java with ? I've been looking at this problem so much now that I've grown blind to it. public static long getChecksum(byte[] data, int size) { long sum, tmp; sum = getInt(new byte[]{data[0], data[1], data[2], data[3]},true) & 0xFF; for(int I = 4; I < data.length; I += 4) { tmp = getInt(new byte[]{data[I],data[I+1],data[I+2],data[I+3]},true) & 0xFF; tmp = (sum >>> 29) + tmp; tmp = (sum >>> 17) + tmp; sum = (sum << 3) ^ tmp; } return sum & 0xFF; } private static int getInt(byte[] bytes, boolean big) { ByteBuffer bb = ByteBuffer.wrap(bytes); return bb.getInt(); } Thank you all for your help!

  • How to save/retrieve words to/from SQlite database?

    - by user998032
    Sorry if I repeat my question but I have still had no clues of what to do and how to deal with the question. My app is a dictionary. I assume that users will need to add words that they want to memorise to a Favourite list. Thus, I created a Favorite button that works on two phases: short-click to save the currently-view word into the Favourite list; and long-click to view the Favourite list so that users can click on any words to look them up again. I go for using a SQlite database to store the favourite words but I wonder how I can do this task. Specifically, my questions are: Should I use the current dictionary SQLite database or create a new SQLite database to favorite words? In each case, what codes do I have to write to cope with the mentioned task? Could anyone there kindly help? Here is the dictionary code: package mydict.app; import java.util.ArrayList; import android.database.Cursor; import android.database.sqlite.SQLiteDatabase; import android.database.sqlite.SQLiteException; import android.util.Log; public class DictionaryEngine { static final private String SQL_TAG = "[MyAppName - DictionaryEngine]"; private SQLiteDatabase mDB = null; private String mDBName; private String mDBPath; //private String mDBExtension; public ArrayList<String> lstCurrentWord = null; public ArrayList<String> lstCurrentContent = null; //public ArrayAdapter<String> adapter = null; public DictionaryEngine() { lstCurrentContent = new ArrayList<String>(); lstCurrentWord = new ArrayList<String>(); } public DictionaryEngine(String basePath, String dbName, String dbExtension) { //mDBExtension = getResources().getString(R.string.dbExtension); //mDBExtension = dbExtension; lstCurrentContent = new ArrayList<String>(); lstCurrentWord = new ArrayList<String>(); this.setDatabaseFile(basePath, dbName, dbExtension); } public boolean setDatabaseFile(String basePath, String dbName, String dbExtension) { if (mDB != null) { if (mDB.isOpen() == true) // Database is already opened { if (basePath.equals(mDBPath) && dbName.equals(mDBName)) // the opened database has the same name and path -> do nothing { Log.i(SQL_TAG, "Database is already opened!"); return true; } else { mDB.close(); } } } String fullDbPath=""; try { fullDbPath = basePath + dbName + "/" + dbName + dbExtension; mDB = SQLiteDatabase.openDatabase(fullDbPath, null, SQLiteDatabase.OPEN_READWRITE|SQLiteDatabase.NO_LOCALIZED_COLLATORS); } catch (SQLiteException ex) { ex.printStackTrace(); Log.i(SQL_TAG, "There is no valid dictionary database " + dbName +" at path " + basePath); return false; } if (mDB == null) { return false; } this.mDBName = dbName; this.mDBPath = basePath; Log.i(SQL_TAG,"Database " + dbName + " is opened!"); return true; } public void getWordList(String word) { String query; // encode input String wordEncode = Utility.encodeContent(word); if (word.equals("") || word == null) { query = "SELECT id,word FROM " + mDBName + " LIMIT 0,15" ; } else { query = "SELECT id,word FROM " + mDBName + " WHERE word >= '"+wordEncode+"' LIMIT 0,15"; } //Log.i(SQL_TAG, "query = " + query); Cursor result = mDB.rawQuery(query,null); int indexWordColumn = result.getColumnIndex("Word"); int indexContentColumn = result.getColumnIndex("Content"); if (result != null) { int countRow=result.getCount(); Log.i(SQL_TAG, "countRow = " + countRow); lstCurrentWord.clear(); lstCurrentContent.clear(); if (countRow >= 1) { result.moveToFirst(); String strWord = Utility.decodeContent(result.getString(indexWordColumn)); String strContent = Utility.decodeContent(result.getString(indexContentColumn)); lstCurrentWord.add(0,strWord); lstCurrentContent.add(0,strContent); int i = 0; while (result.moveToNext()) { strWord = Utility.decodeContent(result.getString(indexWordColumn)); strContent = Utility.decodeContent(result.getString(indexContentColumn)); lstCurrentWord.add(i,strWord); lstCurrentContent.add(i,strContent); i++; } } result.close(); } } public Cursor getCursorWordList(String word) { String query; // encode input String wordEncode = Utility.encodeContent(word); if (word.equals("") || word == null) { query = "SELECT id,word FROM " + mDBName + " LIMIT 0,15" ; } else { query = "SELECT id,content,word FROM " + mDBName + " WHERE word >= '"+wordEncode+"' LIMIT 0,15"; } //Log.i(SQL_TAG, "query = " + query); Cursor result = mDB.rawQuery(query,null); return result; } public Cursor getCursorContentFromId(int wordId) { String query; // encode input if (wordId <= 0) { return null; } else { query = "SELECT id,content,word FROM " + mDBName + " WHERE Id = " + wordId ; } //Log.i(SQL_TAG, "query = " + query); Cursor result = mDB.rawQuery(query,null); return result; } public Cursor getCursorContentFromWord(String word) { String query; // encode input if (word == null || word.equals("")) { return null; } else { query = "SELECT id,content,word FROM " + mDBName + " WHERE word = '" + word + "' LIMIT 0,1"; } //Log.i(SQL_TAG, "query = " + query); Cursor result = mDB.rawQuery(query,null); return result; } public void closeDatabase() { mDB.close(); } public boolean isOpen() { return mDB.isOpen(); } public boolean isReadOnly() { return mDB.isReadOnly(); } } And here is the code below the Favourite button to save to and load the Favourite list: btnAddFavourite = (ImageButton) findViewById(R.id.btnAddFavourite); btnAddFavourite.setOnClickListener(new View.OnClickListener() { @Override public void onClick(View v) { // Add code here to save the favourite, e.g. in the db. Toast toast = Toast.makeText(ContentView.this, R.string.messageWordAddedToFarvourite, Toast.LENGTH_SHORT); toast.show(); } }); btnAddFavourite.setOnLongClickListener(new View.OnLongClickListener() { @Override public boolean onLongClick(View v) { // Open the favourite Activity, which in turn will fetch the saved favourites, to show them. Intent intent = new Intent(getApplicationContext(), FavViewFavourite.class); intent.setFlags(Intent.FLAG_ACTIVITY_NEW_TASK); getApplicationContext().startActivity(intent); return false; } }); }

  • Does dict.update affect a function's argspec?

    - by sbox32
    import inspect class Test: def test(self, p, d={}): d.update(p) return d print inspect.getargspec(getattr(Test, 'test'))[3] print Test().test({'1':True}) print inspect.getargspec(getattr(Test, 'test'))[3] I would expect the argspec for Test.test not to change but because of dict.update it does. Why?

  • h:selectOneMenu not populating a 'selected' item

    - by dann.dev
    I'm having trouble with an h:selectOneMenu not having a selected item when there is already something set on the backing bean. I am using seam and have specified a customer converter. When working on my 'creation' page, everything works fine, something from the menu can be selected, and when the page is submitted, the correct value is assigned and persisted to the database as well. However when I work on my 'edit' page the menu's default selection is not the current selection. i have gone through and confirmed that something is definitely set etc. My selectOneMenu looks like this: <h:selectOneMenu id="selVariable" value="#{customer.variableLookup}" converter="#{variableLookupConverter}"> <s:selectItems var="source" value="#{customerReferenceHelper.variableLookups()}" label="#{source.name}" /> </h:selectOneMenu> And the converter is below. It very simple and just turns the id from string to int and back etc: @Name( "sourceOfWealthLookupConverter" ) public class SourceOfWealthLookupConverter implements Serializable, Converter { @In private CustomerReferenceHelper customerReferenceHelper; @Override public Object getAsObject( FacesContext arg0, UIComponent arg1, String arg2 ) { VariableLookup variable= null; try { if ( "org.jboss.seam.ui.NoSelectionConverter.noSelectionValue".equals( arg2 ) ) { return null; } CustomerReferenceHelper customerReferenceHelper = ( CustomerReferenceHelper ) Contexts.getApplicationContext().get( "customerReferenceHelper" ); Integer id = Integer.parseInt( arg2 ); source = customerReferenceHelper.getVariable( id ); } catch ( NumberFormatException e ) { log.error( e, e ); } return variable; } @Override public String getAsString( FacesContext arg0, UIComponent arg1, Object arg2 ) { String result = null; VariableLookup variable= ( VariableLookup ) arg2; Integer id = variable.getId(); result = String.valueOf( id ); return result; } } I've seen a few things about it possibly being the equals() method on the class, (that doesn't add up with everything else working, but I overrode it anyway as below, where the hashcode is just the id (id is a unique identifier for each item). Equals method: @Override public boolean equals( Object other ) { if ( other == null ) { return false; } if ( this == other ) { return true; } if ( !( other instanceof VariableLookup ) ) { return false; } VariableLookup otherVariable = ( VariableLookup ) other; if ( this.hashCode() == otherVariable.hashCode() ) { return true; } return false; } I'm at my wits end with this, I can't find what I could have missed?! Any help would be much appreciated

  • Whats the difference between \z and \Z in a regular expression and when and how do I use it?

    - by Mister M. Bean
    From http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/docs/api/java/util/regex/Pattern.html: \Z The end of the input but for the final terminator, if any \z The end of the input But what does it mean in practice? Can you give me an example when I use either the \Z or \z. In my test I thought that "StackOverflow\n".matches("StackOverflow\\z") will return true and "StackOverflow\n".matches("StackOverflow\\Z") returns false. But actually both return false. Where is the mistake?

  • How to make every Class Method call a specified method before execution?

    - by norm
    I want to make my Python Class behave in such a way that when any Class method is called a default method is executed first without explicitly specifying this in the called Class. An example may help :) Class animals: def _internalMethod(): self.respires = True def cat(): self._internalMethod() self.name = 'cat' def dog(): self._internalMethod() self.name = 'dog' I want _internalMethod() to be called automatically when any method is called from an instance of animals, rather than stating it explicitly in the def of each method. Is there an elegant way to do this? Cheers,

  • [game] How is it possible to legally write ::: in C++ and ??? in C#?

    - by daveny
    These questions are a kind of game, and I did not find the solution for them. It is possible to write ::: in C++ without using quotes or anything like this and the compiler will accept it (macros are prohibited too). And the same is true for C# too, but in C#, you have to write ???. I think C++ will use the :: scope operator and C# will use ? : , but I do not know the answers to them. Any idea?

  • Re-usable views or xibs for use with UIStoryboard

    - by Leonardo
    I find it very convenient to use storyboards, especially to have (and show) an overview of the application. However, I also find it very annoying to replicate the same code and views without the possibility to keep at least a reusable library of the most common xibs. This is especially true with UITableView and its cell. Did some of you have had any idea or best practice to share for dealing with this issue?

  • Money vs. Decimal vs. Float Performance issues (SQL data types for Currency value)?

    - by urz shah
    What data type should be selected in case of Currency value column in SQL server. I have read some where on web Working on customer implementations, we found some interesting performance numbers concerning the money data type. For example, when Analysis Services was set to the currency data type (from double) to match the SQL Server money data type, there was a 13% improvement in processing speed (rows/sec). Is it true??

  • Python style: if statements vs. boolean evaluation

    - by mkscrg
    One of the ideas of Python's design philosophy is "There should be one ... obvious way to do it." (PEP 20), but that can't always be true. I'm specifically referring to (simple) if statements versus boolean evaluation. Consider the following: if words: self.words = words else: self.words = {} versus self.words = words or {} With such a simple situation, which is preferable, stylistically speaking? With more complicated situations one would choose the if statement for readability, right?

  • Find Upper Right Point of Rotated Rectangle in AS3 (Flex)

    - by coltech
    I have a rectangle of any arbitrary width and height. I know X,Y, width, and height. How do I solve the upper right hand coordinates when the rectangle is rotated N degrees? I realized if it were axis aligned I would simply solve for (x,y+width). Unforunatly this doesn't hold true when I apply a transform matrix on the rectangle to rotate it around its center.

  • Why is my custom view not appearing?

    - by user351469
    When I comment out setContentView(boardView); in my Game.java my custom view in BoardView works fine and displays everything nicely... but onSizeChanged never gets called in BoardView.java... so I can't read the device width and height at runtime. If I leave setContentView uncommented onSizeChanged works... but the screen is blank! I want to be able to read the screen width and height at runtime and set the sizes of my ImageViews at creation so they are the optimal size. public class Game extends Activity implements OnClickListener{ private BoardView boardView; /** Called when the activity is first created. */ @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); boardView = new BoardView(this); setContentView(boardView); // when this line disabled, it looks ok boardView.requestFocus(); } public class BoardView extends View { private final Game game; private float width; // width of one unit private float height; // height of one unit public BoardView(Context context){ super(context); this.game = (Game)context; setFocusable(true); setFocusableInTouchMode(true); LinearLayout maincontainer = new LinearLayout(game); maincontainer.setLayoutParams(new LinearLayout.LayoutParams(LayoutParams.FILL_PARENT,LayoutParams.FILL_PARENT)); maincontainer.setGravity(Gravity.CENTER); maincontainer.setOrientation(LinearLayout.VERTICAL); maincontainer.setBackgroundColor(Color.BLACK); LinearLayout innercontainer = new LinearLayout(game); innercontainer.setLayoutParams(new LinearLayout.LayoutParams(LayoutParams.WRAP_CONTENT,LayoutParams.WRAP_CONTENT)); innercontainer.setGravity(Gravity.CENTER); innercontainer.setOrientation(LinearLayout.HORIZONTAL); // declare a new table TableLayout layout = new TableLayout(game); layout.setLayoutParams(new TableLayout.LayoutParams(LayoutParams.WRAP_CONTENT,LayoutParams.WRAP_CONTENT)); // build a grid of ImageViews in a TableLayout for (int f=1; f<=7; f++) { TableRow tr = new TableRow(game); for (int c=1; c<=7; c++) { ImageView b = new ImageView(game); b.setImageResource(R.drawable.neworb); b.setOnClickListener(game); tr.addView(b, 30,30); // I'd like to not use fixed values here } // for layout.addView(tr); } // for innercontainer.addView(layout); maincontainer.addView(innercontainer); game.setContentView(maincontainer); } @Override protected void onSizeChanged(int w, int h, int oldw, int oldh){ width = w/9f; height = width; super.onSizeChanged(w, h, oldw, oldh); } }
