• Alien deletes .deb when converting from .rpm

  I'm trying to convert .rpm to .deb using alien. sudo alien -k libtetra-1.0.0-2.i386.rpm Alien says that: libtetra-1.0.0-2.i386.deb generated But when I check the folder - there is just original .rpm and no .deb. Also - I can see that for a split second there is a .deb file in a folder. so it looks like alien create .deb and deletes it right away. I suspect that it's maybe because I run 64 bit os and package is 32? Can somebody explain why alien deletes .deb automatically? If I remove the schema from the XML file and the validation from the PL file then it works fine. I am using the default namespace. If I change it to not use the default namespace (xmlns:lib="http://libs.domain.com" and prefix all items in the XML file with lib and change the XPath expressions to include the namespace prefix (/lib:library/lib:book) then it again works file. Why? and what am I missing? • TTPhotoViewController: Images not loading until swipe

  Hi, I am trying to implement TTPhotoViewController in a sample iPad application. I have implemented properly TTPhotoSource and TTPhoto protocols. The TTPhotoViewController does show image, but not until swiped. The right and left button in the tab bar below doesnt seem to work at all, they never change the image displayed. The UIActivityIndicatorView is never put up, nor the right and left buttons are validated when last or first images are reached. I am initializing the subclass of TTPhotoViewController as a rootViewController of a UINavigationController object which I am adding it onto a view. This rules out the possibility of the problem faced here: http://three20.stackexchange.com/questions/78/ttphotoviewcontroller-not-loading-images-immediately What else am I missing? • ERRNO 5 Input/Output Error

  Going up for my first ubuntu installation and encountered a critical error. Mind that I am installing on my Macbook Pro, and have already removed all other partitions. (I'm installing with a CD) My Ubuntu version is: "ubuntu-12.10-desktop-i386" So once the installation gets to something around "Finishing copying files", a great big "[ERRNO5] Input/Output Error" pops up on the screen. Obviously this halts and crashes the whole installation. Now, I've already run a disk check, memtest, and cpu load test, and all came up green. I have also redownloaded ubuntu twice, md5 match both times, and burnt four disks. None got past this error. If anyone could help me out, that would be greatly appreciated! Cheers!

• jQuery Cycle plugin IE6/7 issues

  I've implemented a slideshow using the Cycle plugin, which is working in all browsers except IE6&7, where the images just show up in a list, and the #page_copy div is not hiding. I've been going through the code all day without any luck, and not exactly sure how or what I should be looking for. What would be the best way to go about debugging this issue?   I have a GridView, using a custom adapter (myAdapter extends BaseAdapter), where each item in the grid holds an ImageButton. getView() is working fine. However, from elsewhere in my code, how can I update the image (setImageResource) for one particular item in the grid based on its position in the GridView?   In my code I quickly generate images on the fly, and I want to display them as quickly as possible. So the first time I create my image, I create a new BITMAP, but instead of deleting the old one and creating a new one for every subsequent image, I just want to copy my data back into the existing one. • Change (not init) a UIBarButtonItem identifier programatically?

  In IB I can set the identifier of a UIBarButtonItem to 'play' which adds an image of a play button (right-pointing triangle). Is there a way to change this image programatically? I want to change it to 'pause' when the play button is pressed. I know you can initialize a UIBarButtonItem with an identifier but I've yet to find a way to change it after it's been initialized. Is this even possible? The only thing I can think of is to remove the old button and initialize a new one in its place, but this hardly seems efficient. Any thoughts?

My Mac had just enough room for a VM (my thought process was that VM was the same as partition) However, I burned the newest version of Ubuntu onto a CD, thinking that partitioning and running a virtual machine would be the same. I would restart my computer, booting up Ubuntu installer. The installation would not allow me to partition, forcing me to force shutdown my laptop. when I turn on my laptop, I see that my computer is "missing operating system".   Hi, I'm writing a DND-editor where I can position elemtents (like buttons, images ...) freely via absolute positioning. Every element has a parent composite. These composites should span/grasp/embrace every element they contain. There can be two or more elements in the same composite and a composite can contain another composite. This image shows how it should look like. This is because it tries to change the absolute positioning into a relative one. Lets say I position a image at position (100,100) and one at (200,200). Then it has to calculate the location of the composite to be at (100,100) and spanning the one at (200,200). But as all child positions are relative to their parents I have to change the positions of the children to remove the 100px offset of the parent. When the layout gets updated it moves everything to the top-left corner (as seen in the image) because the position of the image is not (100,100) but (0,0) since I tried to remove the 100px offset of the partent. Where is my error in reasoning? Is this maybe a totally wrong approach? Is there maybe an other way to achive the desired behavior? Thanks in advance! Best regards, Ed

• Oracle Enterprise Manager Ops Center 12c : Enterprise Controller High Availability (EC HA)

With EC HA if the hardware crashes, or if the Enterprise Controller services and/or the remote database stop responding, then the enterprise services are immediately restarted on the other standby Enterprise Controller without administrative intervention. In today's post, I'll briefly describe EC HA, look at some of the prerequisites and then show some screen shots of how the Enterprise Controller is represented in the BUI. In my next post, I'll show you how to install the EC in a HA environment and some of the new commands. What is EC HA? Enterprise Controller High Availability (EC HA) provides an active/standby fail-over solution for two or more Ops Center Enterprise Controllers, all within an Oracle Clusterware framework. This allows EC resources to relocate to a standby if the hardware crashes, or if certain services fail. It is also possible to manually relocate the services if maintenance on the active EC is required. When the EC services are relocated to the standby, EC services are interrupted only for the period it takes for the EC services to stop on the active node and to start back up on a standby node. What are the prerequisites? To install EC in a HA framework an understanding of the prerequisites are required. There are many possibilities on how these prerequisites can be installed and configured - we will not discuss these in this post. However, best practices should be applied when installing and configuring, I would suggest that you get expert help if you are not familiar with them. Lets briefly look at each of these prerequisites in turn: Hardware : Servers are required to host the active and standby node(s). As the nodes will be in a clustered environment, they need to be the same model and configured identically. The nodes should have the same processor class, number of cores, memory, network cards, for example. Operating System : We can use Solaris 10 9/10 or higher, Solaris 11, OEL 5.5 or higher on x86 or Sparc Network : There are a number of requirements for network cards in clusterware, and cables should be networked identically on all the nodes. We must also consider IP allocation for public / private and Virtual IP's (VIP's). Storage : Shared storage will be required for the cluster voting disks, Oracle Cluster Register (OCR) and the EC's libraries. Clusterware : Oracle Clusterware version 11.2.0.3 or later is required. When a fail-over occurs the Enterprise Controller resources and the VIP are relocated to one of the standby nodes. The standby node then becomes active and all Ops Center services are resumed. Connecting to the Enterprise Controller from your favourite browser. Let's presume we have installed and configured all the prerequisites, and installed Ops Center on the active and standby nodes. We can now connect to the active node from a browser i.e. http://<active_node1>/, this will redirect us to the virtual IP address (VIP). The VIP is the IP address that moves with the Enterprise Controller resource. Once you log on and view the assets, you will see some new symbols, these represent that the nodes are cluster members, with one being an active member and the other a standby member in this case. If you connect to the standby node, the browser will redirect you to a splash page, indicating that you have connected to the standby node. Hope you find this topic interesting. • Javascript execution order

  I want to give a static javascript block of code to a html template designer, which can be: either inline or external or both used once or more in the html template and each block can determine its position in the template relative to the other javascript code blocks. An example could be image banners served using javascript. I give code to template designer who places it in two places, once for a horizontal banner in the header and once for a vertical banner. The same code runs in both blocks but knowing their positions can determine if to serve a horizontal or a vertical image banner. Make sense?
