• ASP.NET remote debugging using Visual Studio 2008

  Im having issues getting this to work, maybe its not even possible? I have a PUBLIC Server http://publicserver.com I want to debug using my laptop from my home (for instance) I run msvsmon.exe on the public server, it starts up fine. On my local machine, i have my code open and in VS, i choose Debug-Attach for Qualifier i enter publicserver.com, but it tells me it cannot find it Questions: 1.) What port does remote debugging use? If i port sniff i dont see msvsmon.exe opening any new port ... Does it use 4015 by default? I dont think its a security thing, so please dont point me to the articles, i have followed them as much as i can, but they dont work for my scenerio (unless you find one i havent seen) Thanks :-)

  I have a button in my activity, when you click the button an if statement is ran against its text label; if(BTN_1.getText()=="firsttext"){ //do some stuff, then... BTN_1.setText("secondtext"); }else if(BTN_1.getText()=="secondtext"){ //do other stuff, then... BTN_1.setText("firsttext"); } Firstly, if I hit the home button and go back to the desktop and then click back onto my app the view has reset its self; if I press the button and leave it in a state where the text of the button is "secondtext", when I return to my app it says "firsttext", how can I stop the view of my app refreshing its self like this? Secondly, under my XML layout I have defined the buttons text; android:text="firsttext" But this won't actually match my if statement above, under onCreate of this app I have: BTN_CONNECT.setText("Connect"); But visually the text of the button is exactly the same, why won't it match?   My FB application is using the below code to generate the FB.Connect.showPermissionDialog box. <?php if($fb->api_client->users_hasAppPermission("publish_stream",$fb_user)==0) { ?> <script> FB.ensureInit(function(){ FB.Connect.showPermissionDialog("publish_stream", function() { },false,266167740665); }); </script> <?php } ?> The php if statement is for a check if the user has granted this permission previously or not. It is working fine and if the user hasn't granted permission before then FB.Connect.showPermissionDialog is displayed, which prompts for the permission. My problem is that on "Granting" or "Skipping" the permission by the user the dialog box doesn't go away. It resides over there and refreshes itself to open the facebook home page inside the box. It has to be forcefully closed by clicking on the X button. Am I doing any thing wrong?

  Hi all, I want to determine the position of the cursor where user have clicked. And display one div at bottom side of the page where user have clicked. For example on stack over flow home page if some one click on the logo. Then the div should be displayed at the bottom position of the logo. Same way if i click on the bottom link then that div should be displayed at the bottom portion of the page. I am using mootools as my JS framework. But any JavaScript code will be helpful for me. • Why don't the .net 4.0 charting controls work in Visual Web Developer 2010 Express?

  The .net charting controls are now built into .net 4.0. They work great in Visual Studio 2010. However, they do not work in Visual Web Developer 2010 Express (which is what I have at home.) I get the error, System.Web.HttpException: Error executing child request for ChartImg.axd. That sounds like the message from .net 3.5 if charting wasn't set up correctly. But the bottom of the same page says, "Version Information: Microsoft .NET Framework Version:4.0.30319; ASP.NET Version:4.0.30319.1" Does anyone know why this doesn't work?

• Open protected web page passing in credentials programmatically

  I have code examples from some of my previous work that help me to post form values to a web page (login credentials) and retrieve the text from that page. Now I want to pass in form values (login credentials again) but actually open that web page in a browser given those credentials. How do I do that? I'm not doing anything nefarious. In our CRM app (home-grown as it is), I want to create a link button that opens our web site's protected products page given the user's credentials (based on the user's login credentials). Normally, I'd copy the user's credentials in our login page which then takes me to the products page. I'm trying to do this now by just clicking a link button. Any suggestions?

  There is a strong tendency of making web apps and even seems that very soon a lot of features will be available online so that for every day use people will have all necessary software free online and they will not need to install any software locally. Only specific (professional) tools that usually people don’t use at home will not be available as a web app. So my question, how do you imagine selling software that was necessary for everyday use and was not free (seems they can't make money any more by selling their product – no need of those products). And what disadvantages have web apps, that is to say, what is bad to use software online compared with having the same software locally (please list)? Please do not consider this question not connected with programming, as I would like to have a little statistics from professional programmers who are aware from nowday’s tendency of software and programming.   Hello all, I am trying to connect to a SVN server in order to import my project into it with svn+ssh authentication method. I am using the NetBeans IDE (6.8) with subversion plugin installed on Windows XP SP2. I have plink installed with its path set in the Windows PATH env variable. When I use the similar looking repository URL (XXXX and YYYY replaced with sensible things) svn+ssh://XXXX@YYYY/home/dce/svn/trunk along with this external tunnel command plink -l <myUserName> -i C:\\privateKey.ppk I keep getting this error: org.tigris.subversion.javahl.ClientException: Network connection closed unexpectedly I searched about it on the Internet and tried many things but didn't work out. Please help if anybody has some idea what may be going wrong. Thanks a lot in advance.

  I've modified my .htaccess file to have the following statement RewriteCond $1 !^index.php$ RewriteRule ^/?([^/]+)$ index.php?c=home&m=details&seo=$1 [L,NS] This allows me to use product URL's like this: http://domain.com/product_name However, when trying to access a file at the same level as index.php, it always calls the RewriteRule above and errors out. I need to be able to access files like below, but each URL currently attempts to load index.php. http://domain.com/about.htm http://domain.com/terms.htm http://domain.com/robots.txt etc Any suggestions on how I can modify my htaccess file to get this to work correctly?

  I just upgraded my site from ASP.NET 3.5 to 4.0. I've been working through some breaking changes and there were more than I expected. One I can't figure out, however, is why my <asp:Substitution /> control suddenly stopped working like it should. It's supposed to ignore the output cache settings of the parent page and update upon every request. For some reason that isn't happening. It's caching for the full 10 minutes (the OutputCache setting for my home page). Any ideas?

  I'd like to improve my page by combining and minifying javascript and CSS files. Since MVCContrib already contains a project called IncludeHandling, I took a look at that which unfortunately left me with unanswered questions: There is quite a set of interfaces and objects involved in the process. Now I'm using Ninject.Mvc, but it seems that MvcContrib.IncludeHandling is using some additional (home-brewed?) DI? Can I work around this? Has anybody used this and can share some experiences? Secondly, advice that is often heard is to put static content on different domains so the request does not contain cookies and the like, making it much easier for the server to handle the request. But how can I combine this with automatic inclusion handling - isn't that necessarily served in the same application? EDIT: Figured that there is really just a single resolve call in the whole thing, i really wonder why they use DI for that... Thinking about a fork there...

• Monodevelop SVN 1.7 support

  I'm trying to checkout an SVN repo and it does get checked out, however the solution is not opened by default. I then tried to simply open an already checked out folder and I do not get versioning support. I tried this in both Windows and Linux with no success with MonoDevelop 3.0.4 and 3.0.5 My guess is that since the .sln file is in the path /trunk/code/project/project.sln and the new 1.7 format keeps only one ".svn" folder at the top of the checked out folder (e.g. /home/gustavo/ProjectSrc/ ) hence MD not "finding" the versioned code. Anybody has had success using SVN 1.7 and MonoDevelop?

• Android 2.2 AVD: no Quick Search Box?

  I have recently updated my Android SDK to include support for Android 2.2 (API level 8). The app that I'm building integrates with the Quick Search Box (QSB) home screen widget, which I can't seem to find in this version (using both vanilla 2.2 and the Google APIs version). I was kind of excited when they announced that they have improved its functionality, but it seems there's no way for me to observe it. Is this normal? Are others experiencing the same issue? Or is this somehow related to my setup (running Archlinux and installed the Android SDK from the repositories).
