• 12.04 Dell GX260 resolution for 82845G/GL will not go greater than 1024x768

  I am a newbie to Linux and have installed 12.04 on to an old Dell GX260, I was hoping that I could slowly extract myself from Microsoft - but unless I can fix this simplest of problems I am thinking that this version of Linux is not ready for me yet!! I have read various posts but none seem to match, I believe the driver is installed, but under displays the maximum allowed in the drop down box is 1024x768 (4:3) display is unknown and detect displays does nothing. I have loaded all updates available but still no fix. xrandr shows: VGA1 connected 1024x768+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 0mm x 0mm 1024x768 60.0* 800x600 60.3 56.2 848x480 60.0 640x480 59.9 xrandr --addmode VGA1 1360x768 cannot find mode "1360x768" anything above 1024x768 can not be found, but then I could be doing this out of step!!

  Silverlight has a method called HtmlPage.PopupWindow() that opens new web browser window with a specific page. You can find this method in the namespace System.Windows.Browser. If you haven’t in your project, add a reference to System.Windows.Browser. The method HtmlPage.PopupWindow() has three parameters: Uri – location to browse String – the target window HtmlPopupWindowOptions – a class with the window options (full list of properties http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.windows.browser.htmlpopupwindowoptions(v=vs.95).aspx) For a security reason of Silverlight the call to HtmlPage.PopupWindow() is allowed through any user input like a button, hyperlink, etc. The code is very simple: var options = new HtmlPopupWindowOptions {Left = 0, Top = 0, Width = 800, Height = 600}; if (HtmlPage.IsPopupWindowAllowed) HtmlPage.PopupWindow(new Uri("http://geekswithblogs.net/"), "new", options); The property IsPopupWindowAllowed is used to check whether the window is enabled to open popup.

  Few examples before the question: "A language is just a tool; Better to worry only about the concept." "C++ is just an object oriented language." "Java is more about the libraries and less about programming." "C# is just a Microsoft's version of Java with some extra things from C++." "Python is a scripting language used mainly for testing purpose." ... All these statements are made knowingly or unknowingly from my colleagues/friends and I often get to hear them. • I have reinstalled 12.04 and there is no dual boot option

  Tonight, I have reinstalled Ubuntu 12.4on Win XP pro machine for a 3rd time. (Uninstalled in between.) Oddly enough, this machine had a dual boot between xp pro & ubuntu for several months before we decided to reinstall everything (because of windows). Have you had any problems with the reboot on XP Pro SP3 with all updates & microsoft essentials? I am not getting a choice of which operating system to boot into, it just boots into windows & does not acknowledge ubuntu!

• Using XNA libraries in your Silverlight Windows Phone 7 applications

  I recently got an inquiry to my Microsoft Translator sample on if this would work with the Silverlight in the Windows Phone 7 SDK. I hadnt tried it before, so I created a sample Windows Phone 7 application and copied the code over. I used a basic UI to mock up the similarities: And then clicked the button. The text translated fine, but no audio. I didnt get any warnings that the WaveMSS code sample I was using wouldnt work. Then I remembered about XNA.   Recently I have been delivering Design and Planning Sessions at client sites, and as of recent SharePoint 2010 has been part of that mix. After the activity that goes on during those sessions getting towards the end of them is always a cross roads for clients.  Why?  Because it is time to kick the wheels.  Remind them, and remember, this is not a 1 or 4 weeks ordeal.  This has to be very well planned.   I recently bought Samsung Galaxy Note II on android 4.1. It was my idea to try to turn it into a pc and I bought a micro-keyboard for the same purpose. I had hoped there would be an app for OpenOffice, but there isn't. Now i see that ubuntu may be installed on smart phones. I already have ubuntu - including OpenOffice - on my laptop. My question is: is it possible to install ubuntu to galaxy note II, and if so, does it include office programs and other ubuntu programs? So aside from C# I want to learn a new language. Time is precious and I want to give my focus to a language which have a future. My language list is: Scala (Powerful usage in Twitter) Go (Getting popular and channels are pretty awesome) Erlang (Stable server side programs. Used at Whatsapp) You can give advice for the above or you can give me a better option. My only exception is Objective-C. I don't want to get in that one. Thanks
