  • NVIDIA GFORCE 610M drivers

    I'm attempting to install drivers for my GFORCE 610M and none of the solutions seems to work. Generally people recommend using the jockey-gtk program, which doesn't detect the card and states that there's no propitiatory drivers to install. I tried download the official binary from the NVIDIA site, but that told me that I had to remove the Nouveau kernal driver, so I did that, following the instructions on the wiki (apt-get remove --purge xorg-something or other) and ignoring the "DON'T DO THIS" warning, after that didn't do anything i installed various packages (nvidia-common, nvidia-settings, etc) and eventually got the nvidia-settings program (and a very low screen resolution). Unfortunately when I open nvidia-settings it tells me to run nvidia-xconfig as root (i've done this several times, but to no avail) and doesn't let me configure anything. At this point I tried re-running the binary installer i downloaded from nvidia's site, and it said it worked but it didn't change a thing. So I'm out of ideas, what've you got?

I know that the best solution would be to hire a professional web designer and have him design my website, but I am also interested in understanding how to improve my design skills. Of course any recommended book, website, resource is more than welcome.     I'm an economist (aspiring economist, if we are being technical) and my curiousity has been recently piqued by search engine optimization services. I had the following questions. 1) What industries most widely use search engine optimization services? 2) Is it small business or big firms that use SEO services typically? 3) What is SEO pricing typically dependent upon and how much is it on average? 4) Do SEO services really increase traffic? Is there a dataset I can get a hold of for this sort of thing? I am not looking for answers to the questions necessarily. Although answers would help, a nudge in the right direction is more than sufficient, and greatly appreciated. Thank you!

    If I am targeting the same audience, but the new sub-site has different concept from the existing site, should I create a new sub-domain or create a new domain? What are the seo advantages and disadvantages of creating a new sub-domain? For example Stack Exchange with Alexa rank 1.474 right now, has sub-domains such as programmers.stackexchange.com and other domains such us serverfault.com with rank 3.515 and stackoverflow.com with rank 109. So why didn't Stack Exchange put, for example, Stack Overflow in a sub-domain to create a better ranking?

  • Loading a PyML multiclass classifier... why isn't this working?

    This is a followup from "Save PyML.classifiers.multi.OneAgainstRest(SVM()) object?". I am using PyML for a computer vision project (pyimgattr), and have been having trouble storing/loading a multiclass classifier. When attempting to load one of the SVMs in a composite classifier, with loadSVM, I am getting: ValueError: invalid literal for float(): rest Note that this does not happen with the first classifier that I load, only with the second. What is causing this error, and what can I do to get around this so that I can properly load the classifier? Details To better understand the trouble I'm running into, you may want to look at pyimgattr.py (currently revision 11). I am invoking the program with "./pyimgattr.py train" which trains the classifier (invokes train on line 571, which trains the classifier with trainmulticlassclassifier on line 490 and saves it with storemulticlassclassifier on line 529), and then invoking the program with "./pyimgattr.py test" which loads the classifier in order to test it with the testing dataset (invokes test on line 628, which invokes loadmulticlassclassifier on line 549). The multiclass classifier consists of several one-against-rest SVMs which are saved individually. The loadmulticlassclassifier function loads these individually by calling loadSVM() on several different files. It is in this call to loadSVM (done indirectly in loadclassifier on line 517) that I get an error. The first of the one-against-rest classifiers loads successfully, but the second one does not.   • MVC Page not showing up, 404 not found

    I have a very simple MVC site that is returning a 404 not found error when trying to load a page at the very beginning. I'm looking for some direction to troubleshoot this problem since there is really nothing to go on from the error message. The error I'm getting is: Description: HTTP 404.   • twitter bootstrap collapsable nav menu

    I am using twitter bootstrap on my web app to do all of the styling and everything is great for the most part. The problem is that my nav bar, once collapsed, will not drop down when I click the dropdown icon.   • Problem using easy_install on Windows 7, 64 bit. (cannot find python.exe)

    Hi, I have just now installed Python 2.6 on my Windows 7 (64 bit) Lenovo t61p laptop. I have downloaded Sphinx and nose and apparently installed them correctly using python setup.py install (at least no errors were reported during the installation). Now I am trying to install pymongo using easy_install but I am not having much success. It seems that easy_install isn't working at all. I execute easy_install as administrator: C:\>easy_install Cannot find Python executable C:\Program Files\Python26\python.exe The path C:\Program Files\Python26\python.exe is correct. I have found this bug report on bugs.python.org which seems to be related, although its status is 'Resolved'. Do you have any ideas as to what may be wrong? Any pointers, hints or tips for diagnosing the problem further would be greatly appreciated.     I have a jqGrid multiple search dialog as below: (Note the first empty td in each row). What I want is a search grid like this (below), where: The first td is filled in with "and/or" accordingly. The corresponding search filters are also built that way. The empty td is there by default, so I assume that this is a standard jqGrid feature that I can turn on, but I can't seem to find it in the docs.   • About global.asax and the events there

    So what i'm trying to understand is the whole global.asax events. I doing a simple counter that records website visits. I am using MSSQL. Basicly i have two ints. totalNumberOfUsers - The total visist from begining. currentNumberOfUsers - Total of users viewing the site at the moment. So the way i understand global.asax events is that every time someone comes to the site "Session_Start" is fired once. So once per user. "Application_Start" is fired only once the first time someone comes to the site. But when the session is over the currentNumberOfUsers is decremented with 1. If i go to the site with 3 types of browsers with the same computer i should have 3 in hits on both counters. Doing this again after hours i should have 3 in current and 6 in total, right ? The way its working right now is the current goes up to 2 and the total is incremented on every postback on IE and Chrome but not on firefox. And one last thing, is this the same thing ?     I want to imitate Google suggest with the following code, which means: step 1: When user types in search box, the query string will be processed by a server php file and query suggestion string is returned(using Ajax object). step 2:When user clicks on a query suggestion, it will fill into the search box (autocomplete).     Hi I'm new to all this. I have been trying to display fetched emails in a JTable using the JavaMail add-on. However when I ask the program to set the value it never does. I have been working in NetBeans if that is any help? the fetchMail class finds all may on a server. The gui class is used to display all emails in a table as well as creating mail.   • Convert Custom Firefox Setup to Firefox Portable?

    I have a pretty awesome firefox set up and spent a lot of time getting it perfect. Is there any way that anyone knows about to convert the entire configuration to portable? Programs like MozBackup are great for backing up the complete set up, but you can't restore a Firefox profile to Firefox portable (maybe there is a workaround to fake it out? or possibly another method?) In case anyone is interested here is the gist of the best add-ons I've found: Autopager (scroll down google and other multi page results without clicking next) Coral IE Tab (IE in firefox - in case a website 'insists' that you use IE) Cyber search (search google straight from the address bar - VERY HELPFUL) Download StatusBar (display progress of downloads in the bottom of ff - no annoying popups FireFTP (erases need for an external FTP client - opens in a tab) Gmail manager (if you use multiple gmail accounts) Session Manager (saving multiple sessions of tabs - ff session recover) Surf Canyon (pull relevant stuff out of the depths of search results - even from craigslist Tab Mix Plus (ESSENTIAL - tab behavior customization - have multiple rows of tabs I also have it set up so you can type 'g test' in the address bar and ff will pull up the google results for 'test'. Similarly have it set up for guitar tabs (tab), facebook (f), wikipedia (w), google maps from my house (gmhome), torrents (tor), ticketmaster (t), rotten tomatoes (rt), craiglist (c) plus about 20 other sites.

  • PHP-FPM and APC for shared hosting?

    We are looking into finding a way to get APC to only create one cache per account / site. This can be done with Fastcgi (last update 2006…) but with Fastcgid APC will have to create multiple caches for multiple processes run by the same account. To get around this problem, we have been looking into PHP-FPM PHP process manager allows multiple PHP processes to share a single APC cache. But from what I have read (I hope I'm wrong) , even if you create a pool per process, all sites accross all pools will share the same APC cache. This brings us back to the same problem as with shared Memcached: it's not secure ! On php-fpm's site I read that you can chroot php-fpm pools and define a specific UID and GID per pool… if this is the case then shouldn't APC have to use this user and not have access to other pools cache ? An article here (in 2011) suggests that you would need to run one process per pool creating multiple launchers on different ports and different config files with one pool per config file : http://groups.drupal.org/node/198168 Is this still neceessary ? If so what would be the impact of running say 800 processes of php-fpm ? Would it be mainly memory ? If so how can I work out what the memory impact would be ? I guess that it would be better to run 800 times php-fpm then to have accounts creating multiple APC caches for a single site ? If on average an account creates a 50MB cache and creates 3 caches per account that makes 150Mb per account which makes 120GB… However if each account uses on average only 50Mb that would make 40GB We will have at least 128GB of ram on our next server so 40GB is acceptable if running 800 x PHP-FPM does not create an overhead of more than 20GB ! What do you think is PHP-FPM the best way to go to provide secure APC cache on shared hosting with a server that has a decent amount of memory ? Or should I be looking at another system ? Thanks !

  • Issues with doing a P2V on Exchange 2007

    I shutdown all Exchange services on the physical box and did a convert. Everything converted fine. Server booted up no issues and I could receive email from the outside world with no issues. But I am unable to send emails internally or externally. They just sit in the Outbox. I also disabled the DHCPClient service as I didn't want the server to get an IP address from DHCP when it first came online. It came online with no IP, then I used console to assign the correct static IP address (same one on the physical server) and rebooted. I ran the Exchange Troubleshooting Agent and it gave me the following errors: The value for the '\MSExchangeIS Mailbox\Messages Queued For Submission' counter on server exchange is greater than zero (average value is 8.8) and it appears that 'MSExchangeMailSubmission' is failing to submit messages to at least one computer with the Hub Transport server role installed over the last minute. Found 1 computers with the Hub Transport server role installed in the same Active Directory site as server exchange using local Active Directory site GUID 'ce8a4367-1bf6-4825-9cac-c4e2b115c450'. Check Local Active Directory Site Hub Transport Server Role Health (Mailflow_CheckLocalBhHealth1.1.1.1.1.1.1.1) I have one Exchange server with all the roles on it. Has anyone see this before when doing a convert? Please help :(

However, it doesn't seem to be working for me.
