• jquery datatables add checkbox with ajax server side response

  I am using C# ASP .NET MVC and ajax calls. I am able to get the display of the table along with all features. But, I don't understand how do I add a checkbox and button. I have tried dom-checkbox as well but can't get it to work. Any help is appreciated. • Failed sending bytes array to JAX-WS web service on Axis

  Hi I have made a small example to show my problem. Foo runs, calls the callback method and returns. However, the client is still struck in the call to Foo and never returns. The client callback method is never run. I guess I made a design mistake somewhere. If needed, I can post more code. Any help is appreciated.

  this linq query var users = from u in context.Users where u.UserEMailAdresses.Any(e1 => e1.EMailAddress == userEMail) && u.UserPasswords.Any(e2 => e2.PasswordSaltedHash == passwordSaltedHash) select u; return users.Count(); returns: 1 even when there is nothing in password table. how come? what i am trying to do is get the values of email and passwordHash from two separate tables (UserEMailAddresses and UserPasswords) linked via foreign keys to the third table (Users). it should be simple - checking if email and password mach from form to database. but it is not working for me. i get 1 (for count) even when there are NO entries in the UserPasswords table. is the linq query above completely wrong, or...?

• Webclient using download file to grab file from server - handling exceptions

  Hello everyone, I have a web service in which I am manipulating POST and GET methods to facilitate upload / download functionality for some files in a client/server style architecture. Basically the user is able to click a button to download a specific file, make some changes in the app, then click upload button to send it back. Problem I am having is with the download. Say the user expects 3 files 1.txt, 2.txt and 3.txt. Except 2.txt does not exist on the server. So I have code like (on server side): public class HttpHandler : IHttpHandler { public void ProcessRequest { if (context.Request.HttpMethod == "GET") { GoGetIt(context) } } private static void GoGetIt(HttpContext context) { var fileInfoOfWhereTheFileShouldBe = new FileInfo(......); if (!fileInfoOfWhereTheFileShouldBe.RefreshExists()) { throw new Exception("Oh dear the file doesn't exist"); } ... So the problem I have is that when I run the application, and I use a WebClient on client side to use DownloadFile method which then uses the code I have above, I get: WebException was unhandled: The remote server returned an error: (500) Internal Server Error. (While debugging) If I attach to the browser and use http://localhost:xxx/1.txt I can step through server side code and throw the exception as intended. So I guess I'm wondering how I can handle the internal server error on the client side properly so I can return something meaningful like "File doesn't exist". One thought was to use a try catch around the WebClient.DownloadFile(address, filename) method but i'm not sure thats the only error that will occur i.e. the file doesn't exist.

• Crazy idea: Connect .NET and SAP with SAP JCo using IKVM.NET

  Because the SAP Connector for .NET is no longer maintained by SAP, I am now looking for an alternative to connect the Microsoft world with the SAP world. I know there a third party products like ERPConnect, but I want to do this with tools from SAP. Therefore there arised the crazy idea to use the SAP Java Connector in combination with the tool IKVM.NET (www.ikvm.net/devguide/net2java.html). IKVM.NET provides The IKVMC tool, which converts Java bytecode to .NET dll's and exe's. "No sooner said than done!" I converted the SAP JCo to .NET dlls and created a new Visual Studio solution. I put all the JCO files into a subdirectory of my solution. I set 2 references to the generated IKVM.OpenJDK.Core.dll and sapjco.dll. Great, all JCO classes where now available as .NET classes. Full of optimism I wrote some little code to connect to a SAP system. JCO.Client client = null; client = JCO.createClient(...) The compiliation of my testcode had no errors. "Wonderful !" I thought. Then I started my tetstapplication. Unfortunately I got an exception calling JCO.createClient: Could not load middleware layer 'com.sap.mw.jco.rfc.MiddlewareRFC'\r\nno sapjcorfc in java.library.path I have 2 questions on this topic. 1) Do you think my idea using SAP Java Connector to connect .NET with SAP is a good idea or is it nonsens ? Perhaps someone had already the same idea ;-) 2) How can the above exception be solved ?

• "Best" language /architecture for browser-based app with ODBC and sockets? (subjective)

  Sorry to ask a subjective question, but I would welcome some advice. I am an experienced programmer of embedded s/w, but haven't done much network programming, although I have done a fair bit of hobbyist PHP. Anyway, I have to develop what is probably a fairly general type of app, as shown in this crude diagram --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | Browser / user interface Takes input from user form and writes data to d/b. | | Also gets data and updates browser contents when when d/b contents are changed | | because of info received over TCP/IP. | |________________________________________________________________________________| | ODBC | |_______________________________________________________________________________| | database | |_______________________________________________________________________________| | ODBC | |_______________________________________________________________________________| | Socket (TCP/IP) | | Send data out when d/b is updated from browser. | | Also, update d/b when data are received over TCP/IP. | |_______________________________________________________________________________| As I say, I imagine this to be a fairly typical architecture? Am I right? Then client is insisting on MSIE - unless I can show compelling technical reasons for FireFox or other then it will have to be MSIE (are there any compelling technical reasons?). So, with MIE (almost) a given, I had though to use PHP, since I know it, but the client seems awfully keen on Java (which ought to be OK since I am conversant with C++) it woudl seem to make sense to use the same language for the "upper" interface between the web pages (which that app generates) and the d/b, and for the "lower" interface between the d/b and the socket. (a single language means a single set of tools since text approach, etc) So, the (probably highly subjective) question is "which language shoudl I choose". As I say, the client is keen on Java. Any compelling reason why not? Is it generally a good choice for the sort of thing described here? Any other hints & tips gratefully appreciated (and up-voted): URLs, books, tool chain suggestions, etc, etc

  I am currently finding about how to build a XMPP client application on android 2.0.I came across this link which somewhat talks about the same problem.I am a newbie to android dev and thus found the solution given there to be difficult to digest. The system currently has Active MQ as a JMS provider.My job is to fed the messages coming from JMS to the XMPP server and then develope XMPP client on android 2.0 which will listen and show notification to the events pushed by the server. I have following concerns(which might sound foolish) 1.How do I push the events from JMS to the XMPP server which will in turn push them on android? 2.Which XMPP server implementation I should use?I have 3 options * Openfire: Very mature (was a commercial product), but sounds like it's heavyweight, written in Java * Prosody: Lightweight and easy to use, written in Lua. Doesn't have PubSub module yet * Tigase: Also lightweight, written in Java, supports PubSub How do I test and setup these servers.Do I need PubSub funcationality for my app? 3.For XMPP client I came across Smack API given here which is updated like 2 years back.Can anyone please tell me how do I make use of it for Android 2.0.If possible can anyone please mail me latest working Smack jar files.   Hi there, my goal is to secure the communication between MSMQ Queue Managers – I don’t want unknown clients sending messages to my MSMQ server. I have spent many hours now trying to get Transport security working for the net.msmq binding in WCF, where MSMQ is in Workgroup mode and the client and server do not have Active Directory… so I’m using certificates. I have created a new X.509 certificate, called Kristan and put it into the “Trusted people” store on the server and into the My store of Current User of the client. The error I’m getting is: An error occurred while sending to the queue: Unrecognized error -1072824272 (0xc00e0030).Ensure that MSMQ is installed and running. If you are sending to a local queue, ensure the queue exists with the required access mode and authorization. Using smartsniff, I see that there’s no attempted connection with the remote MSMQ, however, it’s an error probably coming from the local queue manager. • Improving long-polling Ajax performance

  I'm writing a webapp (Firefox-compatible only) which uses long polling (via jQuery's ajax abilities) to send more-or-less constant updates from the server to the client. I'm concerned about the effects of leaving this running for long periods of time, say, all day or overnight. The basic code skeleton is this: function processResults(xml) { // do stuff with the xml from the server } function fetch() { setTimeout(function () { $.ajax({ type: 'GET', url: 'foo/bar/baz', dataType: 'xml', success: function (xml) { processResults(xml); fetch(); }, error: function (xhr, type, exception) { if (xhr.status === 0) { console.log('XMLHttpRequest cancelled'); } else { console.debug(xhr); fetch(); } } }); }, 500); } (The half-second "sleep" is so that the client doesn't hammer the server if the updates are coming back to the client quickly - which they usually are.) After leaving this running overnight, it tends to make Firefox crawl. I'd been thinking that this could be partially caused by a large stack depth since I've basically written an infinitely recursive function. However, if I use Firebug and throw a breakpoint into fetch, it looks like this is not the case. The stack that Firebug shows me is only about 4 or 5 frames deep, even after an hour. One of the solutions I'm considering is changing my recursive function to an iterative one, but I can't figure out how I would insert the delay in between Ajax requests without spinning. I've looked at the JS 1.7 "yield" keyword but I can't quite wrap my head around it, to figure out if it's what I need here. Is the best solution just to do a hard refresh on the page periodically, say, once every hour? Is there a better/leaner long-polling design pattern that won't put a hurt on the browser even after running for 8 or 12 hours? Or should I just skip the long polling altogether and use a different "constant update" pattern since I usually know how frequently the server will have a response for me?

• jsf datatable lazy load filter and sorting

  Hi, I have worked on several projects with a lot of data tables. The tables had sorting, filtering and paging of course on server side and with help of the db (all databases has implemented sording, filtering -where and limit the returned results). When workig on real application there are a thousands of even a millions rows. But I have seen several JSF dagatable components. They implement pagination, sorting and filtering on client side!! According to me this is very silly. This technology is called enterprise and they sort the data on the client side with java script! I have not seen any good JSF data grid that has build in features for sorting, filtering and lazy loading on the server side. Why is that? Am I looking in wrong direction or really there in no build support for this. Lately I am testing primefaces and lazy loading datatable. It really works fine, but the table i can only lazy load. If you add sort and filter then the problems begin. Conclusion: Is there any datatable JSF component than can perform lazy load pagination, and filtering and sorting on server side. If I need to implement my own solution thanks to the teams that made client side sorting and filtering, they are useless. Regards

  I am having trouble validating my xml schema. I get these errors on the schema 113: 18 s4s-elt-invalid-content.1: The content of '#AnonType_user' is invalid. 164: 17 s4s-elt-invalid-content.1: The content of '#AnonType_festival' is invalid. Element 'sequence' is invalid, misplaced, or occurs too often. and becuase of those 2 errors, i am getting loads of the same error. This is becuase the attribute id of the festival tag may be empty becuase there is not data for that festival cvc-datatype-valid.1.2.1: '' is not a valid value for 'integer'. cvc-attribute.3: The value '' of attribute 'id' on element 'festival' is not valid with respect to its type, 'integer'. • SharePoint custom web service consumption problems - HTTP 401: Unauthorized

  I have a custom web service deployed into WSS 3. It has two web methods. The first one returns the version of the loaded assembly without any invocation of the SharePoint objects. The second returns some basic info about the library, something like: var spLibrary = [find library logic]; return spLibrary.Name+"@"+spLibrary.Url; In the client app I have something like the following: var service = new WebService1(); service.Url = [url]; service.Credentials = System.Net.CredentialCache.DefaultCredentials; service.Method1(); service.Method2(); When the client app runs on the machine where SharePoint is deployed, everything works just fine. When the client app runs on the remote machine (but under the same user) the first method still works, but the second one throws System.Net.WebException: HTTP 401: Unauthorized. I have tried to set credentials manualy (service.Credentials = new System.Net.NetworkCredential(login, password, domain);) but this doesnt help. I've tried to invoke the built in SharePoint web services using a similar scenario, and they work just fine: Sorry for the mistake... • Setting freemarker template from classpath

  I have a web application that I need to manually obtain a Freemarker template - the template is obtained via a class in a library project, but the actual tpl file is contained in the web application classpath. So, there are 2 projects, one 'taac-backend-api' and another 'taac-web'; taac-backend-api has the code to grab the template, and process it, but taac-web is where the template is stores (specifically in: WEB-INF/classes/email/vendor.tpl) - I have tried everything from using springs classpath resource to using Freemarkers setClassForTemplateLoading method. I assume this would work: freemarkerConfiguration = new Configuration(); freemarkerConfiguration.setClassForTemplateLoading(this.getClass(), ""); Template freemarkerTemplate = freemarkerConfiguration.getTemplate("/email/vendor.tpl"); yet, I always get a FileNotFoundException. Can someone explain the best way to obtain a template from the classpath? Thanks.

• Sync Vs. Async Sockets Performance in C#

  Everything that I read about sockets in .NET says that the asynchronous pattern gives better performance (especially with the new SocketAsyncEventArgs which saves on the allocation). I think this makes sense if we're talking about a server with many client connections where its not possible to allocate one thread per connection. Then I can see the advantage of using the ThreadPool threads and getting async callbacks on them. But in my app, I'm the client and I just need to listen to one server sending market tick data over one tcp connection. Right now, I create a single thread, set the priority to Highest, and call Socket.Receive() with it. My thread blocks on this call and wakes up once new data arrives. If I were to switch this to an async pattern so that I get a callback when there's new data, I see two issues The threadpool threads will have default priority so it seems they will be strictly worse than my own thread which has Highest priority. I'll still have to send everything through a single thread at some point. Say that I get N callbacks at almost the same time on N different threadpool threads notifying me that there's new data. The N byte arrays that they deliver can't be processed on the threadpool threads because there's no guarantee that they represent N unique market data messages because TCP is stream based. I'll have to lock and put the bytes into an array anyway and signal some other thread that can process what's in the array. So I'm not sure what having N threadpool threads is buying me. Am I thinking about this wrong? Is there a reason to use the Async patter in my specific case of one client connected to one server?

• Windows Workflow Foundation - Application-Integrated Debugging

  I've got a typical n-tier app that has a heavy workflow component to it, so I'm interested in using WWF. There's a server-side piece that runs as a Windows Service, and there's the client-side piece written in Silverlight. To have a really great, seamlessly integrated experience for my users, what I want is to incorporate both a workflow designer and a workflow debugger into the application. Not Visual Studio, but something tightly integrated right into the app itself. Using the Silverlight client, the user (probably more of a power user) can design workflows. But not only that, they can open a debugger from within the Silverlight client, set breakpoints (which are really remote breakpoints back to the Windows Service), catch in-process workflows, and step through them. Wouldn't that be great? I think I have some idea how I might go about incorporating an integrated designer (use a Silverlight diagramming component, save the diagram to .XAML, parse the .XAML to re-create the diagram, etc., etc.) but how on Earth would I do the debugger? I have no idea how I would do that part. Is there some kind of debugging support engineered into WWF?
