    This is a really weird problem: I have set up the authlogic_openid_selector_example app. When i register, the email id is not returned by the openid provider the first time. But if i delete the account and register again, the email id is returned. But this doesn't seem to be happening in the example hosted here: http://big-glow-mama.heroku.com/. How do i fix this problem? Has this got to do with caching? I have hosted my version of the app here: http://pingauthtest.heroku.com/ I guess the author of authlogic_openid_selector_example app (@holden) has forgotten to commit new changes. :) I looked at my development log and the first time the provider doesn't return the openid.ext1.value.ext0 which contains the email id. This is returned the second time only after having deleted the account first.   • Internet stops working after heavy downloading, video/audio streaming etc

    As mentioned in title, Internet stops working on my PC after heavy downloading, video/audio streaming etc. There are no errors, no disconnections etc. Simply after some time (certain amount of data downloaded) I can't get any more. If I try using ping afterwards nothing happens. If ping is running simultaneously with streaming/downloading I get some correct responses and then it keeps showing an error. What helps is re-plugging my Pentagram USB wifi card, but I hope there is a better solution. Edit: One more thing: my friend who works in IT suggested that it might have something to do with cache (DNS cache? I don't remember him specifying) getting filled while it should be emptied automatically.

Other sites seem to know exactly which city I'm in, though, without me entering any information. Suggestions? Is there something cross-browser (ignoring IE6) and reliable?

    Hi all, I've got a little problem with exporting MySQL data to html. The problem is that in one field i have values like this: <a href="http://google.com">Google</a> and when i export the table in html format the generated html table for this fields contains: &lt;a href=&quot;http://google.com&quot;&gt;Google&lt;/a&gt; which is not a valid html link. Is there way to export the table without mysql to convert the < and > chars? Thanks!

  • Why don't we use dynamic (server-side generated) CSS?

    As server-side generated HTML is trivial (and it was the only way to make dynamic webpages before AJAX), server-side generated CSS is not. Actually, I've never seen it. There are CSS compilers, but they generate CSS files which can be used as static. Technically, it requires no special libraries, the HTML style tag should reference to the PHP(/ASP/whatever) templater script instead of the static CSS file, and the script should send out CSS content-type header - that's all. Does it have cache problems? I don't think so. The script should send out no-cache etc. headers. Is it problem for designers? No, they should edit the CSS template (as they edit the HTML template). Why we don't use dynamic CSS generators? Or if there's any, please let me know.

  • Most efficient way to store list structure in XML

    Starting a new project and was planning on storing all of my web content in XML. I do not have access to a database so this seemed like the next best thing. One thing I'm struggling with is how to structure the XML for links (which will later be transformed using XSLT). It needs to be fairly flexible as well. Below is what I started with, but I'm starting to question it. <links> <link> <url>http://google.com</url> <description>Google</description> <link> <link> <url>http://yahoo.com</url> <description>Yahoo</description> <links> <url>http://yahoo.com/search</url> <description>Search</description> </link> <link> </links> That should get transformed into Google Yahoo Search Perhaps something like this might work better. <links> <link href="http://google.com">Google</link> <link href="http://yahoo.com">Yahoo <link href="http://yahoo.com/search">Search</link> </link> </links> Does anyone perhaps have a link that talks about structuring web content properly in XML?     When users enter my website example.com, their "preferred" language is detected and they are redirected (using a 301 Moved Permanently redirection) to example.com/en/ (for english), example.com/it/ (for italian), etc. It works perfectly, but when I analized my website with the Google Page Speed tool it gave me the following advice. Many pages, especially mobile pages, redirect users to a different URL, for instance from www.example.com to m.example.com. Making this redirect cacheable by the user's browser can speed up page load times for repeat visitors to a site. And later it says We recommend using a 302 redirect with a cache lifetime of one day. The redirect should include a Vary: User-Agent header as well as a Cache-Control: private header. So my questions are, how can I do a "cacheable" redirection in PHP? Would the following be enough? header("HTTP/1.0 302 Moved Temporarily"); header("Location: example.com/whatever"); exit;
