  • Core Data: fetch an NSManagedObject by its properties

    - by niklassaers
Hi guys, I have an object NetworkMember that has no attributes but is defined by its relationships Person, Network, Level and Role. In my app, I've found all the four relationships, but I want to make sure not to double-register my NetworkMember, thus I'd like to search for this NSManagedObject before instantiating it. How should I write a query that queries for an NSManagedObject just consisting of relationships? Cheers Nik

  • Getting random objects from an array, and if the objects are the same, get a new object.

    - by XcodeDev
    Hi, I have made a jokes application, where the user generates a joke and the joke will display in a UILabel. However I am trying to randomise the jokes show, but I do not want to show the same joke twice. Please could you tell me how I could do this. I am using the code below to try and do that, but it seems that it is not working. - (IBAction)generateNewJoke { if (i < [jokeArray count]) { i++; [userDefaults setInteger:[userDefaults integerForKey:kNewIndex] forKey:kOldIndex]; int oldnumber = [userDefaults integerForKey:kOldIndex]; int newnumber = [userDefaults integerForKey:kNewIndex]; [answerLabel setText:@""]; [userDefaults setInteger:i forKey:kNewIndex]; if (oldnumber == newnumber) { NSLog(@"they are the same"); [userDefaults setInteger:arc4random()%[jokeArray count] forKey:kNewIndex]; } [jokeLabel setText:[jokeArray objectAtIndex:[userDefaults integerForKey:kNewIndex]]]; } }

  • Storing an subtitle on an annotation with NSUserDefualts

    - by Krismutt
    Hey everybody! Basically: what i try to do is to save the street address of an annotation so that when I quit the application and launch it again the street address still will be there...see the following code: SavePosition.m -(NSString *)subtitle{ if (!subtitle) { return @"Ingen gata i närheten"; } else { return subtitle; } } -(NSString *)title{ return @"Sparad Position"; } -(id)initWithCoordinate:(CLLocationCoordinate2D) coor{ self.coordinate=coor; NSLog(@"%f,%f",coor.latitude,coor.longitude); return self; } - (void)setCoordinate:(CLLocationCoordinate2D)koor { MKReverseGeocoder *geocoder = [[[MKReverseGeocoder alloc] initWithCoordinate:koor] autorelease]; geocoder.delegate = self; coordinate = koor; [geocoder start]; } - (void)reverseGeocoder:(MKReverseGeocoder *)geocoder didFailWithError:(NSError *)error { NSLog(@"fail %@", error); } - (void)reverseGeocoder:(MKReverseGeocoder *)geocoder didFindPlacemark:(MKPlacemark *)placemark { self.subtitle = [placemark.addressDictionary valueForKey:@"Street"]; } -(void)applicationWillTerminate:(UIApplication *)application { NSUserDefaults *userDef = [NSUserDefaults standardUserDefaults]; [userDef setValue:subtitle forKey:@"SavedAddress"]; [userDef setBool:YES forKey:@"Street"]; [userDef synchronize]; } @end mainViewController.m -(void)viewDidLoad { [super viewDidLoad]; NSUserDefaults *userDef = [NSUserDefaults standardUserDefaults]; if ([userDef boolForKey:@"sparadKoordinat-existerar"]) { CLLocationCoordinate2D savedCoordinate; savedCoordinate.latitude = [userDef doubleForKey:@"sparadKoordinat-latitud"]; savedCoordinate.longitude = [userDef doubleForKey:@"sparadKoordinat-longitud"]; SparaPosition *position=[[SparaPosition alloc] initWithCoordinate:savedCoordinate]; [mapView addAnnotation:position]; savedPosition = savedCoordinate; raderaSparad.enabled=YES; skickaMaps.enabled=YES; mStoreLocationButton.enabled=NO; friZoom = NO; NSString *savedAddress = [[NSUserDefaults standardUserDefaults] objectForKey:@"SavedAddress"]; if (savedAddress) { savedAddress.subtitle = [userDef valueForKey:@"Street"]; // what code should I add here? } MKCoordinateRegion region; region.center.latitude = savedCoordinate.latitude; region.center.longitude= savedCoordinate.longitude; MKCoordinateSpan span; span.latitudeDelta = 0.01; span.longitudeDelta = 0.01; region.span = span; region = [mapView regionThatFits:region]; [mapView setRegion:region animated:YES]; [mapView setRegion:region animated:TRUE]; }

  • division with wrong result

    - by PeterK
    Hi, I am trying to divide integers but get 0 as result. I just do not understand what i am doing wrong. I am using only int's in this example but get the same result testing with float or double. The code i use is: int wrongAnswers = askedQuestions - playerResult; int percentCorrect = (playerResult / askedQuestions) * 100; int percentWrong = (wrongAnswers / askedQuestions) * 100; NSLog(@"askedQuestions: %i", askedQuestions); NSLog(@"playerResult: %i", playerResult); NSLog(@"wrongAnswers: %i", wrongAnswers); NSLog(@"percentCorrect: %i", percentCorrect); NSLog(@"percentWrong: %i", percentWrong); NSLog(@"calc: %i", (wrongAnswers + playerResult)); NSLog(@"wrong answers %: %i %%", ((wrongAnswers / askedQuestions) * 100)); The result i get is: 2011-01-09 16:45:53.411 XX[8296:207] askedQuestions: 5 2011-01-09 16:45:53.412 XX[8296:207] playerResult: 2 2011-01-09 16:45:53.412 XX[8296:207] wrongAnswers: 3 2011-01-09 16:45:53.413 XX[8296:207] percentCorrect: 0 % 2011-01-09 16:45:53.414 XX[8296:207] percentWrong: 0 % 2011-01-09 16:45:53.414 XX[8296:207] calc: 5 2011-01-09 16:45:53.415 XX[8296:207] wrong answers : 0 % I would very much appreciate help :-)

  • Generic Any/Attach/Add function for Entity Framework

    - by Matt Thrower
Looking through my EF classes, they're littered with code that looks like this: if (_myContext.[EntityType].Any(d => d.RowId == dc.RowId)) { _myContext.[EntityType].Attach(dc); _myContext.Entry(dc).State = EntityState.Modified; } else { _myContext.[EntityType].Add(dc); } It's the same thing over and over, and is clearly itching to be handled by a generic function. However, I'm not sure how you'd go about handling the need for it to deal with a variety of unexpected entity types. A good example to get me started would be most appreciated.

  • Load NSAttributedString from File

    - by Wayfarer
Is there a way to have some sort of rich text in a file, and load the file into an NSAttributedString? I looked into loading a .rtf file into an NSAttributed String: NSString *filePathFooter = [[NSBundle mainBundle] pathForResource:kFooterFileName ofType:@"rtf"]; NSError *error = nil; NSAttributedString *string = [[NSAttributedString alloc] initWithFileURL:[NSURL URLWithString:filePathFooter] options:nil documentAttributes:NULL error:&error]; But this leaves me with: Error Domain=NSCocoaErrorDomain Code=258 "The operation couldn’t be completed. (Cocoa error 258.)" Is there a way to do this?

  • How are people popping their UINavigationController stacks under a UITabBarController?

    - by RexOnRoids
I have four UINavigationControllers assigned each to a tab in a UITabBarController. Each UINavigationController manages a UIViewController, which may itself branch out into other UIViewControllers below it hierarchally. My question is, in a case in which a user, under one tab, has navigated to a UIViewController that hierarchally BELOW the main UIViewController managed by the UINavigationController, and then the user pushes a different tab, and then goes back to the original tab, HOW can I make it so that the user is presented with the main UIViewController managed by the UINavigation controller? and not the page where he left off?

  • Loading different portrait/landscape UIViews

    - by Tronic
Hi, I have following View COntroller structure: ScrollViewController LandscapeViewController PortraitViewController Each with its own .nib The app starts in landscape mode where many landscape views are added to a scrollview. Each landscape view has its specific portrait view, so I have to assign like ID's to each of this views. Can you tell me, how I can load the specific portrait view for each landscape view when rotating the device? Do I have to make two scroll views? One for landscape, one for portrait? Or is it possible to just scroll through the landscape scrollview an load just one portrait view with the right content based on an ID? How could I implement that? The data comes from a property list. Thanks in advance!

  • How to get a reference to a method's caller object from within the method in Objective-C

    - by shakeelw
Hi guys. I have a few text fields and text views on my application's view. The keyboard comes up when I click in anyone of them. I have a method that gets called when any one of these objects is tapped in. However, I would like the method to execute its code only if the a certain Text Field(s) or a certain Text View(s) is tapped in. I would therefore like to have something like this in the method body: { if(currentField != mySpecialField) {return;} //Rest of the method code... } Now, my question is, how do I get a reference to the currently tapped in field so that I can perform the if-check. Thanks guys. I'm a total noobee in Objective-C. :(

  • Including a NSUserDefault password test in 1st Tab.m to load a loginView gives eror?

    - by Michael Robinson
I have a name and password in NSUserDefaults for login. I have this in my 1stTab View.m class to test for presence and load a login/signup loginView.xib modally if there is no password or name stored in the app. Here is the pulling of the defaults: -(void)refreshFields { NSUserDefaults *defaults = [NSUserDefaults standardUserDefaults]; usernameLabel.text = [defaults objectForKey:kUsernameKey]; passwordLabel.text = [defaults objectForKey:kPasswordKey]; { Here is the Test: - (void)viewDidAppear:(BOOL)animated { [self refreshFields]; [super viewDidAppear:animated]; if ([usernameLabel.text length] == 0 || [passwordLabel.text length] == 0) { LoginViewController * vc = [[[LoginViewController alloc] initWithNibName:@"LoginView" bundle:nil] autorelease]; [self presentModalViewController:vc animated: false]; } else { [[self tableView ]reloadData]; } } Thanks in advance, I'm getting this error in the console: * Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSUnknownKeyException', reason: '[ setValue:forUndefinedKey:]: this class is not key value coding-compliant for the key usernameLabel.'

  • Interface Builder only allows one button to be "touchable"

    - by STLMikey
I'm making a clone of the classic game simon, the memory matching game. My (iPad) app will load fine, i tap start, the game screen loads, and only one of my four buttons will respond to touch commands. To troubleshoot, I tried creating a second unrelated nib and just populating it with four buttons not linked to anything. However, only one of those four buttons would respond to touch! There are no IBActions being called, nothing. Both the view itself, and all four buttons are touch enabled in the inspector...I'm stumped. I'm moreso asking if anyone has encountered anything simillar, as I'd rather not burden potential help with app-specific questions if it's avoidable. Thank you!

  • openGL ES retina support

    - by Bryan
I'm trying to get the avTouch sample code app to run on the retina display. Has anyone done this? In the CALevelMeter class, I've tried the following: - (id)initWithCoder:(NSCoder *)coder { if (self = [super initWithCoder:coder]) { CGFloat f = self.contentScaleFactor; if ([self respondsToSelector:@selector(contentScaleFactor)]) { self.contentScaleFactor = [[UIScreen mainScreen] scale]; } f = self.contentScaleFactor; _showsPeaks = YES; _channelNumbers = [[NSArray alloc] initWithObjects:[NSNumber numberWithInt:0], nil]; _vertical = NO; _useGL = YES; _meterTable = new MeterTable(kMinDBvalue); [self layoutSubLevelMeters]; [self registerForBackgroundNotifications]; } return self; } and it sets the contentScaleFactor to "2". Great, that was expected. But then in the layoutSubviews, CALevelMeter frame is still 1/2 of what it should be. Any ideas?

  • Function should return float, but it gets messed up!

    - by Andre
Hi guys, I'm going crazy here. I have a function that should return a float number: - (float) getHue:(UIColor *)original { NSLog(@"getHue"); const CGFloat *componentColors = CGColorGetComponents(original.CGColor); float red = componentColors[0]; float green = componentColors[1]; float blue = componentColors[2]; float h = 0.0f; float maxChannel = fmax(red, fmax(green, blue)); float minChannel = fmin(red, fmin(green, blue)); if (maxChannel == minChannel) h = 0.0f; else if (maxChannel == red) h = 0.166667f * (green - blue) / (maxChannel - minChannel) + 0.000000f; else if (maxChannel == green) h = 0.166667f * (blue - red) / (maxChannel - minChannel) + 0.333333f; else if (maxChannel == blue) h = 0.166667f * (red - green) / (maxChannel - minChannel) + 0.666667f; else h = 0.0f; if (h < 0.0f) h += 1.0f; NSLog(@"getHue results: %f", h); return h; } The NSLog will trace it correctly (i.e: 0.005), but the actual return value of the function is NULL. I've tried getting that value in so many ways and it never works. float originalHue = [self getHue:original]; results in a building error, as it says: "incompatible types in initialization" float *originalHue = [self getHue:original]; results in a null return. I've tried other ways, but it never actually gets the value properly. Any thoughts? Cheers guys, Andre

  • TTPhotoViewController thumbnails rotate but images don't

    - by Koray Balci
I have PhotoTest1Controller very similiar to the one in Three20 samples. I implemented necessary shouldRotate methods in necessary places in UITabBarController and UINavController derived classes as well as the table that contains PhotoTest1Controller. A funny thing is happening, when in thumbnail mode, the view rotates properly, but when showing a picture it does not respond to rotation. Moreover, If I rotate in thumbnail view and then switch to single image view in that rotation, I find that the image is properly rotated in the background. It only ignores rotation when it is the topmost view! So, my understanding is that shouldRotate events are properly propagated, but for some reason single image view does not rotate when in top view, unlike the example code which is %98 equal to my code...

  • Enable editing does not call didSelectRowAtIndexPath ??

    - by elementsense
Hi I have a UITableViewController where the user should be able to edit the items. In order to enable editing i use this : self.navigationItem.rightBarButtonItem = self.editButtonItem; And for everyone, how does not know where self.editButtonItem comes from, it is predefined by the SDK. So, now when I press on any item, this method is called : - (void)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView didSelectRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath but as soon as I hit the edit button and while editing is active, this method does not seemed to be called. Any idea what I missing ? This is the rest of the code that is related to editing : // Override to support conditional editing of the table view. - (BOOL)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView canEditRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { // Return NO if you do not want the specified item to be editable. return YES; } - (UITableViewCellEditingStyle)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView editingStyleForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { return UITableViewCellEditingStyleNone; } - (BOOL)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView shouldIndentWhileEditingRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { return NO; } Thanks for the help. mcb
