• MediaWiki installed on virtual server accessed through Apache ProxyPass

  Note: where you will see "xttp" actualy is "http" but stackoverflow rules do not allow me to use more than 1 hyperlink in one post because I do not have enough "credit" to do that :) INTRODUCTION Hi, I have installed a MediaWiki 1.15.3 software on a private LAN on a Linux box (CentOS 5), with: Apache 2.2.3, PHP 5.1.6, MySQL 5.0.45. Let's name this Linux box "wiki box". Public users can't access this wiki as it is hosted on a private LAN. For external users (the Internet users) we have a Linux router (with Apache 2.0.52) where we host our website (ex: xttp://www.cubique.ro). Let's name this Linux box "router". WHAT I WANT What I want to do is: to create a virtual domain (as xttp://wiki.cubique.ro) on the "router" setup the virtual domain to forward all xttp requests to my private "wiki box" (ex: xttp://192.168.0.200/wiki_root/) WHAT I'VE DONE ALREADY On router's Apache (httpd.conf) I have created a VirtualHost as: < VirtualHost 0.0.0.0:80 ServerName wiki.cubique.ro DocumentRoot /someinternalpath/html ScriptAlias /cgi-bin /someinternalpath/cgi-bin ... Well, after I have navigate at wiki.cubique.ro I saw a blank web page, as /someinternalpath/html has an empty index.htm page. No problem, I know that I have to "teach" the router to pass all the access of virtual domain (wiki.cubique.ro) to the wiki box, where the real pages are stored. So I teach the Apache to ProxyPass the access of virtual domain root to the wiki box root like this: ...the following lines lies in the same virtual domain definition, see above ProxyPass / xttp://192.168.0.200/wiki/ ProxyPassReverse / xttp://192.168.0.200/wiki/ < /VirtualHost WHAT IS THE ISSUE If I access the wiki using the internal address (such as xttp://192.168.0.200/wiki/) it looks splendid (style sheets, everything). When I access the wiki using the virtual domain name ( xttp://wiki.cubique.ro ) it shows the content but no style sheet. Worse than that, no internal wiki links are working at all. • Exchange server not serving mobile devices - how to troubleshoot?

  Our exchange server has suddenly stopped serving mobile devices. Attempts to connect result in our ActiveSync server returning HTTP 500. It is serving outlook clients fine. Our server is Windows 2003 SBS 6.5 SP2 There are no abnormal events in the system log. I ran the "Exchange ActiveSync with AutoDiscover" at https://www.testexchangeconnectivity.com/ I've notice an abnormality in the exchange properties, Log File Directory shows: Access denied. • Anonymous user permission issue in SharePoint Server

  Hello everyone, I am using SharePoint Server 2007 x64 and Windows Server 2008 x64. I have setup a site with template publishing portal. I have grant anonymous access to all the site. My question is, if I create a new page, how to grant permission to anonymous user to access (read permission) the page? I got this confusion because, for the permission setting of a page, a permission is set according to a user name (e.g. read permission for user "foo" of a page). Since anonymous user does not have a related "user name", how could I grant read permission to anonymous user? BTW: I use Windows Forms authentication and Windows NTLM authentication for my sites. • IIS7 + WCF + Silverlight problems

  Hey, I've been building a silverlight application and a WCF service for a while now and recently tried to host them in IIS7. I installed IIS7 on Windows Server 2008 R2 and added these two application to my default website. I am having a number of problems so im hoping one of you can help out... 1) The silverlight and WCF service applications do not work with pass-through authentication. I need to "connect as" the administrator server account when setting up the application. I read online that you should only need to use the "connect as" field when you are connecting to another computer. If i dont supply the admin credentials i get this error. Do i have to set up permissions somewhere else? HTTP Error 500.19 - Internal Server Error The requested page cannot be accessed because the related configuration data for the page is invalid. • Very poor battery life on Lenovo ThinkPad W500 laptop

  I have a new ThinkPad W500 laptop (w/ 9 cell battery) running Windows 7 RTM 64-bit. All drivers* and BIOS are the latest. Battery life appeared poor so I performed several tests under the following conditions: Battery starts with 100% charge Screen on minimum brightness Screen saver running Wifi n enabled and active "Normal" set of programs running including Outlook 2007, FeedDemon, TweetDeck and antivirus Laptop left untouched during tests Under the above conditions, I clocked under 2 hours of battery life across 3 tests (1:49, 1:52, 1:47). If I actually use the computer, we're looking at 1:30. Something is not right... The smoking gun here is that Lenovo hasn't officially released Windows 7 drivers for this laptop. I haven't tried with Vista or XP yet. What are others seeing? Update: For W500 owners w/ the 9 cell battery, what value do you see for "Full charge capacity" when on the Battery tab of the Power Manager utility? I see 81.87 Wh.

• "The Operation Failed." accepting METHOD: PUBLISH iCalendar files in .pst account

  if I create a new Mail Profile using the Internet E-mail wizard, ie, creating a new local .pst account, and then try to add a .ics iCalendar file with a METHOD of PUBLISH to the calendar of that account, I get the error "The Operation Failed." If I change any of the above it works ok, eg, if I use an Exchange account or METHOD: REQUEST in the iCalendar file. I'm using Outlook 2010 on Windows 7 but I think the user that originally reported this was using Outlook 2007. Does anyone have any idea of why this might be? Thanks, Jamie Kitson

• Enable Session state in sharePoint 2010

  I setup a test box computer with server 2008 (standard edition, not R2 and not hyper-v editing). I then installed SharePoint 2010. I was amazed how easy the whole setup went (the prerequisites setup on the SharePoint disk made this process oh so easy – great install system). Really this was just so easy. This test box is being used for testing Access web services. I am able to well publish access applications to this test server and Access applications publish and run just fine on the web SharePoint site through an web browser. However, the only thing that does not work is when I launch a Access report. The error message I get back is This report failed to load because session state is not turned on. Here is a screen shot: I can’t seem to find the setting anywhere to turn session state on. Any hints or links on how to enable session state in SharePoint 2010 would be most appreciated.

  I have a method(say method1) that writes to database(sqlserver)and another method(say method2) that tries to access the same database after some time and updates the data row that was created by method1. The problem arises when method1 fails to access db due to the LAN being disconnected (this is not an exception this is a scenario that will definitely arise in my software, getting into details will make the question too complex) if method1 fails to access db method2 cannot work. What I want to do is to make method1 store values to local db instead of server if the LAN is disconnected and as soon as it enters value in local db the application should start trying to access the server after ever 10-15 seconds. What should I use timer or create a new thread?

However the drive supports upto 300 MBps right ? How do I increase the transfer speeds? P.S - Using Windows XP, All partitions are NTFS.

• Arbitrary Key Remapping on a Mac

  I bought a cheap Chinese replacement keyboard for my late 2007 MBP. The close square/curly bracket key actually sends a left control signal to the Mac. So I'm trying to remap my backslash/pipe key to be close square/curly bracket but I can't find the key remapping software to do it. Double Command and KeyRemap4Macbook can't do arbitrary key remaps and uControl/fkeys don't work on Snow Leopard. Anyone have ideas? I have no problem editing text config files if necessary.

• Why won't Outlook sync with Google Calendar?

  A colleague of mine is having problems with Outlook and Google Calendar Sync. He got a new machine and set up Outlook 2007 on that machine. He also installed Google Calendar Sync. However, when he synced Outlook with Google Calendar, he got a number of duplicate entries in Outlook's calendar. We tried deleting all entries in the Outlook calendar and doing a 1-way sync from Google Calendar to Outlook, but the duplicated entries appeared again. We ultimately removed the duplicated entries manually, but we experienced problems pushing the changes back to Google Calendar, so we deleted the calendar in Google Calendar and tried to sync again (using a 1-way sync from Outlook to Google). Now Google Calendar Sync says that it is synchronizing, but no entries appear in the Google Calendar calendar. What could the problem be?

• IIS seems to send email twice

  Hi, we have a request page in our website that send email to confirm the request. It seem that whenever this page is accessed, some (not all of them) are sent more than once at different time, sometime hours apart. The code (which is an old ASP page) looks fine as it sends only once to the recipient. So I doubt it's a programming related problem. When looking at the Exchange server, the tech told me that he seems to be receiving the request twice at different time, so the problem comes from what's between the code and Exchange. My hypothesis is that IIS seem to 'remember' the page and rerun it for some reason. Any hint on where to start? We have IIS 6 (in french if it makes any difference) with Exchange 2007. IIS is running on a Windows Server 2003 machine (virtual machine I believe) in a DMZ. I don't know about Exchange. Thank you.

• Exchange 2010, multiple accepted domains, UCC and outside webhosts

  We have an Exchange 2010 server configured to send and receive mail on several accepted domains for Outlook Anywhere, with a UCC cert addressing each mail.domain.com and autodiscover.domain.com, mail.otherplace.com etc. This worked fine until an SSL domain validation cert for one of the additional domains - where the www.otherplace.com is hosted outside our org - expired. Now Exchange users in mail.otherplace.com get an expired cert warning for otherplace.com when connecting to our mail.domain.com portal. They still get mail, but with a repeated popup in Outlook 2007 and 2010. If I understand it correctly - Outlook autodiscover connects by first polling otherplace.com/autodiscover - which is the outside www server with the expired cert before continuing on to autodiscover.otherplace.com - which is where the MX record points to our in-house Exchange UCC. I'm trying to find out if we should: 1) turn down all mail functions on the outside webserver 2) delete the expired (useless for an informational site) cert on the outside webserver 3) renew the cert for otherplace.com on the outside webserver - or something completely different? • Macbook Pro Hard Drive won't shop up on disk startup

  I have a macbook pro from 2007. It came with an installation CD for 10.4.8. The first problem is that it won't even recognize the installation CD even though the CD seems perfectly fine. So I used another installation CD just to get me to the Disc Utility dialogue box. I went through the steps to erase the hard drive. However when I attempted to reboot the machine using Disc Startup there was no option for me to select the hard drive. Of course, since I don't have the appropriate installation disk in it won't let me install anything. What are my options? Do I need to ask Apple to send me a new installation CD for this computer? And why wouldn't the hard drive show up in the Startup options?

• Get HDD (and NOT Volume) Serial Number on Vista Ultimate 64 bit

  Hi all. I was once looking for getting the HDD serial number without using WMI, and I found it. The code I found and posted on StackOverFlow.com works very well on 32 bit Windows, both XP and Vista. The trouble only begins when I try to get the serail number on 64 bit OSs (Vista Ultimate 64, specifically). The code returns String.Empty, or a Space all the time. Anyone got an idea how to fix this?   Is there a way to force sharepoint 2010 to popup the dialog to ask the user for a username and password and not use the computers logged in user, if that user doesn't have access. We need an internal sharepoint website to not use the windows credentials, since these are computers used by many people. The windows user doesn't have access to the site, so currently it shows an access denied, click here to log in as another user. We would prefer if it just asked for credentials in a more graceful manner.

Am able to successfully access the classes in VBScript but not able to access the Enums. I know that Enums are value types and hence 'CreateObject' wont work in this case. But am able to access the same Enum in VBA code. Questions: How can I access the enums in VBScript? Why does the behaviour differ in the two COM clients?   While working on large-scale projects, I collect all mail conversations pertaining to the project in a separate folder within Outlook. When the project is completed, I want to archive the entire folder, for reference purposes. So my question is this: Does anyone know of a tool/plugin for Outlook 2007/2010 that allows you to drag/drop a mailfolder from within Outlook, to a Windows Explorer window, exporting the folder as a .pst file, preserving folder structure and timestamps on mails? I am doing this manually at the moment, but having a tool that would use simple drag/drop-functionality would greatly simplify my workflow for handling project-specific mail.

It's nice that it's open-source, but if it's not as good as commercial alternatives... Those of you into this kind of thing, do you confirm that there's just no good live CD to inspect Windows hosts, and possibly repair them? If there is, what do you recommend? Thank you.

• mysql settings - using the available resources

  I've got a lot of processing work I need to run on a mysql server. I've installed mysql 5.1.45-community on a Win 2007 64bit. Its running on a xenon, 3ghz 6 processors with 8 gig ram. It doesn't seem to matter what queries I run (or the number I run at the same time), when I look in task manager, I'll see one processor is out at 100%. The other 5 are idol. Memory is static at 1.54 gig. When I installed mysql, I used the wizard and selected the default "server" (not workstation) option. I feel like I should be getting more bang for my buck. Is there something else I should be monitoring or something I should change to use the other system resources???

After doing a clean install of RHEL 5.5, the second display doesnt work (it worked ok in RHEL 5.2). Neither separate X screens nor Xinerama are working.
