  • Visual Studio Font Size (Windows 7)

    Hi, I've lately installed Windows 7. After opening my old C# project in visual studio i noticed that my buttons are too small (button.text didn't fit in). Why the hell did MS increase the standard font size (well font size is still set to 8, but it's somehow bigger now)? Can I fix it somehow, without correcting all my buttons etc. manually?     Apart from seeming a few, I don't know much about how gadgets work. Are they special applications, or regular apps with special styled windows? I can't think of any app I use which has asked me if I want to install a gadget... I'd have thought any application which is typically left running all the time would be suitable... Skype/MSN for example. Am I misunderstanding the point of gadgets, or are they not popular?

  • Windows batch files: .bat vs .cmd?

    As I understand it, .bat is the old 16-bit naming convention, and .cmd is for 32-bit Windows, i.e., starting with NT. But I continue to see .bat files everywhere, and they seem to work exactly the same using either suffix. Assuming that my code will never need to run on anyhting older than NT, does it really matter which way I name my batch files, or is there some gotcha awaiting me by using the wrong suffix?

    There is an SAP server that has some webservices I need to use, so I am trying to use wsimport to generate the client stubs. I don't want to find all the wsdls and schemas that are referenced and modify them to do it locally, as that isn't sustainable, if they service should change. So, how can I use wsimport to fetch a wsdl and generate the client stubs when the server is using Windows Integrated Authentication, where even the wsdl requires credentials.

    Hi, Environment is: Windows Server 2008 R2 x64 Slik-Subversion-1.6.11-x64 TortoiseSVN-1.6.8.19260-x64-svn-1.6.11 I have setted up svn srvice based on Jeff Atwood guidlines and can connect work with host via svn command lines like svn list svn://localhost, but TortoiseSVN can't connect to it even on server machine itself. All firewall types are off. TortoiseSVN error message is: Can't connect to host 'localhost': No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it. How can I solve this problem?     Does anyone know what graphics library is used to create the graphics in the Solitaire and Freecell games included with Windows Vista (e.g. XNA, GDI, WPF)? A good answer would include the name of the library and evidence. I looked at solitaire.exe with dependency walker and it shows many calls to gdi32.dll and gdiplus.dll, but also a call to Direct3DCreate9 in d3d9.dll.

    Hello, I was wondering if there are any free / open source solutions that will start and stop a windows service based on load? I have some pubsub subscriber services that do background work which is not critical. Ideally i would like tot be able to automate things so that these services could start if memory/cpu/disk i/o was under a certain threshold and stop gracefully if that threshold was met.     I am trying to install an svn client on a friend's work windows laptop without much success. It seems that everyone is using TortoiseSVN nowadays, which unfortunately doesn't install without administrator access. Is there any way around it or another client I can try?
