  • How to check if location services are enabled for a particular app prior to iOS 4.2?

    Hello How can I check if the user has allowed location for mu app? Normally I would use authorizationStatus method of the CLLocationManager class, but it is only available in iOS 4.2 and newer. Is it possible to achieve this somehow while still using SDK 4.2, so that the app can still run on devices with older versions of iOS, or do I have to downgrade the SDK? And along the same line, I need a similar alternative for the locationServicesEnabled method prior to iOS 4.0. Thanx

  • Building proper link with spaces

    Hello, I have the following code in Python: linkHTML = "<a href=\"page?q=%s\">click here</a>" % strLink The problem is that when strLink has spaces in it the link shows up as <a href="page?q=with space">click here</a> I can use strLink.replace(" ","+") But I am sure there are other characters which can cause errors. I tried using urllib.quote(strLink) But it doesn't seem to help. Thanks! Joel

    Hello, I have a slow mySQL query in my application that I need to re-write. The problem is, it's only slow on my production server and only when it's not cached. The first time I run it, it will take 12 seconds, then anytime after that it'll be 500 milliseconds. Is there an easy way to test this query without it hitting the query cache so I can see the results of my refactoring? Thanks!

    Hello, I'm trying to open a write-protected ms excel 2007 file using win32com in python -- I know the password. I can open it with user input of the password into the excel dialog box. I want to be able to open the file without any user interaction. I've tried the following, but it still pops up the dialog box. app.Workbooks.Open("filename.xls", WriteResPassword="secret") Any ideas what I'm doing wrong please? Thanks, Dave.

    Hello, I'm using Visual Studio 2008 Express and I would like Visual Studio (or perhaps an Add-in) to save my whole project to some sort of auto-incrementing archive or whatever would help me recover from disasters. I don't have much need for SVN or complex versioning systems. I'm just looking for something simple and lean. Any help would be much appreciated. I'm trying to figure out how I can change the behavior of the wx.aui.AuiManager so that when a window is dragged to become floating, it will become a proper window with Minimize and Maximize buttons and shown in the Taskbar. Apparently there is some subclassing done of the standard window to remove those exact features but I'm not having any luck in getting them back.

    Hello, this is quite a simple question hopefully. Our client currently has a Flash banner ad on their site which they can change the text size, colour, position etc. by editing an XML file. They want to scrap flash and use JavaScript and jQuery. Now, as long as the XML file is at a readable URL I should be able make an AJAX request for the file and use it. Is that correct? Many thanks
