• python,running command line servers - they're not listening properly

  hello all Im attempting to start a server app (in erlang, opens ports and listens for http requests) via the command line using pexpect (or even directly using subprocess.Popen()). the app starts fine, logs (via pexpect) to the screen fine, I can interact with it as well via command line... the issue is that the servers wont listen for incoming requests. The app listens when I start it up manually, by typing commands in the command line. using subprocess/pexpect stops the app from listening somehow... when I start it manually "netstat -tlp" displays the app as listening, when I start it via python (subprocess/pexpect) netstat does not register the app... I have a feeling it has something to do with the environemnt, the way python forks things, etc. Any ideas? thank you

• Why do socket.makefile objects fail after the first read for UDP sockets?

  I'm using the socket.makefile method to create a file-like object on a UDP socket for the purposes of reading. When I receive a UDP packet, I can read the entire contents of the packet all at once by using the read method, but if I try to split it up into multiple reads, my program hangs. Here's a program which demonstrates this problem: import socket from sys import argv SERVER_ADDR = ("localhost", 12345) sock = socket.socket(socket.AF_INET, socket.SOCK_DGRAM) sock.setsockopt(socket.SOL_SOCKET, socket.SO_REUSEADDR, 1) sock.bind(SERVER_ADDR) f = sock.makefile("rb") sock.sendto("HelloWorld", SERVER_ADDR) if "--all" in argv: print f.read(10) else: print f.read(5) print f.read(5) If I run the above program with the --all option, then it works perfectly and prints HelloWorld. If I run it without that option, it prints Hello and then hangs on the second read. I do not have this problem with socket.makefile objects when using TCP sockets. Why is this happening and what can I do to stop it?

  Hello, I am planning to implement a basic recommendation system that uses Facebook Connect or similar social networking site API's to connect a users profile, based on tags do an analyze and by using the results, generate item recommendations on my e-commerce site(works similar to Amazon). I do believe I need to divide parts into such: Fetching social networking data via API's.(Indeed user allows this) Analyze these data and generate tokes. By using information tokens, do item recommendations on my e-commerce site. Ie: I am a fan of "The Strokes" band on my Facebook account, system analyze this and recommending me "The Strokes Live" CD. For any part(fetching data, doing recommendation based on tags...), what algorithm and method would you recommend/ is used ? Thanks

  Hello, I work on an legacy application, where Spring AOP (namely ProxyFactoryBean) is used. I need to add an aspect around a method of a certain class. This class is not a bean however. The AspecjJ pointcut expression would be like this: execution(* xyz.package.Class.method()) I created a MethodInterceptor and AspectJExpressionPointcut, but I don't know how make those two work together. EDIT: I do not have source code for this class, it is a 3rd party library. The instances of this class are not created by me, neither in source code, nor in spring configuration as beans. It is used internally by the library. Any help appreciated.

  Hello, I have declared two service contracts as follows: [ServiceContract] public interface IContract1 { [OperationContract] double Add(int ip); } [ServiceContract] public interface IContract2 { [OperationContract] double Add(double ip); } I have a class which implements these two contracts. I have created two end points for both the contracts. But I'm not able to access the service from client code. It displays a big error when i try to update the service reference as: Metadata contains an error that cannot be resolved.... There was no endpoint listening at ... etc. I know that you can't have two OperationContracts with the same name but is it possible to have two operation contracts in different service contracts with same name but different signature?   Hello! I'm looking for a pythonic way of iterating over first n items of a list, and it's quite important to do this as fast as possible. This is how I do it now: count = 0 for item in iterable: do_somethin(item) count += 1 if count >= n: break Doesn't seem neat to me. Another way of doing this is: for item in itertools.islice(iterable, n): do_something(item) This looks good, the question is it fast enough to use with some generator(s)? For example: pair_generator = lambda iterable: itertools.izip(*[iter(iterable)]*2) for item in itertools.islice(pair_generator(iterable), n): so_something(item) Will it run fast enough as compared to the first method? Is there some easier way to do it?

  hello, We have to do a project which is a web based workflow application. I have never used WWF. I am thinking should we use WWF with asp.net ? This application has 10 tasks with multiple options (each task may have 4 options) with a good amount of data. Just like banks have customer dealing work flow applications. I am not getting will it hard to switch to WWF ? (we have short time to deliver/ learning curve) Please advice on this. thanks

• SWFUpload is it possible to upload multiple files to a single php script execution

  Hello, I'm trying to implement SWFUpload into an existing PHP upload funcitonality. My current backend script however expects 2 fiels to be uploaded in a single php script execution. (e.g. it excepts the $_FILES parameters to contain 2 entries). So i'm queueing 2 files with SWFUpload and start uploading them. However it appears SWFLUpload calls the php backend script for each queued file. I'd rather modify SWFUpload to send the files with a single backend script execution instead on having to adjust the backend script. Is anyone familiar with this? I've searched various resources (like the SWFUploads docs and forum, but have not found similiar topics. Thanks in advance

  I am trying to use the ASP.NET (3.5) "Routing Module" functionality to create custom pages based on the contents of the URL. Various articles, such as this one: http://blogs.msdn.com/mikeormond/archive/2008/05/14/using-asp-net-routing-independent-of-mvc.aspx explain how to use ASP.NET Routing to branch to existing pages on the web server. What I would like to do is create the page on-the-fly using code. My first attempt looks like this: public class SimpleRouteHandler : IRouteHandler { public IHttpHandler GetHttpHandler(RequestContext requestContext) { string pageName = requestContext.RouteData.GetRequiredString("PageName"); Page myPage = new Page(); myPage.Response.Write("hello " + pageName); return myPage; } } But this throws an HTTPException saying "Response is not available in this context." at the Response.Write statement. Any ideas on how to proceed? UPDATE: In the end, I went with an approach based on IHttpModule, which turned out to be rather easy.

  Hello I am interested if calling Process.Refresh() is mandatory when waiting for the process to terminate by checking Process.HasFinished property? I have a piece of code that works fine without the Process.Refresh() call, however I am curious weather this is a coincidence? I can see that a msdn example has the Process.Refresh() call... If its not necessary, and Process.HasExited is the only property I need, are there any advantages to making the call to Process.Refresh() ? If not, is there a reason it is in the msdn example? Something like this: {{ form.myfield.0 }}} Or perhaps hanging it onto widget itself: {{ form.myfield.field.widget.0 }} What bugs me is that RadioFieldRenderer already implements __get_item__ to get just one RadioInput. The problem is that the renderer does not contain data, neither does the widget. And I'd really hate to mess with Field and BoundField. I need this to inject html before/after each radiobutton and I'd like it to be done in the template. From the code it would be easy. Any ideas are welcome.

• Init modules in apache2

  Hello, I used to write apache modules in apache 1.3, but these days I am willing to pass to apache2. The module that I am writing at the moment has is own binary data, not a database, for performance purposes. I need to load this data in shared memory, so every child can access it without making his own copy, and it would be practical to load/create the binary data at startup, as I was used to do with apache 1.3. Problem is that I don't find an init event in apache2, in 1.3 in the module struct, immediatly after STANDARD_MODULE_STUFF you find a place for a /** module initializer */, in which you can put a function that will be executed early. Body of the function I used to write is something like: if ( getppid == 1 ) { // Load global data here // this is the parent process void* data = loadGlobalData( someFilePath ); setGlobalData( config, data ); } else { // this is the init of a child process // do nothing } I am looking for a place in apache2 in where I can put a similar function.   Hello all, Recently, I could not access the webpage bbc.co.uk anymore, while I can access other websites smoothly. Ar first, I though there may be some problem with my laptop. However, if I use my laptop through my company network, I can load the page bbc.co.uk normally. Then, I though maybe my ADSL at home blocks that web address. However, I tried another laptop with my home ADSL and it can load the page bbc.co.uk very fast. Now I do not know what could be the problem. Can anyone tell me please? Thank you.

The idea is that as I update the file, the version changes and I want this to be reflected across my site.   Hello. We use custom type to represent Identifiers in our project. It has TypeConvertor attached and it always helped with serialization. I've tried to use WCF Data Services to expose some data from our system, but faced a problem. Astoria framework do not recognize class as an entity even though I've decorated it with [DataServiceKey("Id")] attribute. If I change type of property to Guid - it totally works :(. How could teach WCF Data Services to understand this simple class?

  Hello, I wanna read feed entries and I'm just stuck now. Take this for example : http://stackoverflow.com/feeds/question/2084883 lets say I wanna read all the summary node value inside each entry node in document. How do I do that? I've changed many variations of code this one is closest to what I want to achieve I think : Element entryPoint = document.getRootElement(); Element elem; for(Iterator iter = entryPoint.elements().iterator(); iter.hasNext();){ elem = (Element)iter.next(); System.out.println(elem.getName()); } It goes trough all nodes in xml file and writes their name. Now what I wanted to do next is if(elem.getName() == "entry") to get only the entry nodes, how do I get elements of the entry nodes, and how to get let say summary and its value? tnx

But if the next product is 2 or more ID's ahead my cycle breaks. So is there a way for skipping this row and get the next ID matching the criteria. Thank you very much.
