    I have a j2ee application hosted on jboss and linux platform. When I try to access the application , I see following error in server.log file. ORA-12705: invalid or unknown NLS parameter value specified When I point the same jboss instance to a different schema, the application works fine. I tried to go through few forum and found that the NLS parameter settings are fine. Can anyone help.   • Add dpkg .symbols or.shlibs to package made using checkinstall

    I have created a simple package using checkinstall of the Oracle Instantclient client libraries, the package installs without problem and is seen in the system. Problem is, that checkinstall doesn't create /var/lib/dpkg/info/oracle-instantclient11.2-basic.symbols or /var/lib/dpkg/info/oracle-instantclient11.2-basic.shlibs files so when I try to create another package (with proper build scripts) that depends on oracle-instantclient11.2-basic the build fails with dpkg-shlibdeps: error: no dependency information found for \ /usr/lib/libclntsh.so.11.1 (used by \ debian/libopendbx1-oracle/usr/lib/opendbx/liboraclebackend.so.1.2.0). dh_shlibdeps: dpkg-shlibdeps \ -Tdebian/libopendbx1-oracle.substvars \ debian/libopendbx1-oracle/usr/lib/opendbx/liboraclebackend.so.1.2.0 \ returned exit code 2 make: *** [binary-arch] Error 9 Is there an easy way to automatically create a package with .symbols or .shlibs files?

    I've read some documentation about hadoop and seen the impressive results. I get the bigger picture but am finding it hard whether it would fit our setup. Question isnt programming related but I'm eager to get opinion of people who currently work with hadoop and how it would fit our setup: We use Oracle for backend Java (Struts2/Servlets/iBatis) for frontend Nightly we get data which needs to be summarized. this runs as a batch process (takes 5 hours) We are looking for a way to cut those 5 hours to a shorter time. Where would hadoop fit into this picture? Can we still continue to use Oracle even after hadoop?

    We build software using Hudson and Maven. We have C#, java and last, but not least PL/SQL sources (sprocs, packages, DDL, crud) For C# and Java we do unit tests and code analysis, but we don't really know the health of our PL/SQL sources before we actually publish them to the target database. Requirements There are a couple of things we wan't to test in the following priority: Are the sources valid, hence "compilable"? For packages, with respect to a certain database, would they compile? Code Quality: Do we have code flaws like duplicates, too complex methods or other violations to a defined set of rules? Also, the tool must run head-less (commandline, ant, ...) we wan't to do analysis on a partial code base (changed sources only) Tools We did a little research and found the following tools that could potencially help: Cast Application Intelligence Platform (AIP): Seems to be a server that grasps information about "anything". Couldn't find a console version that would export in readable format. Toad for Oracle: The Professional version is said to include something called Xpert validates a set of rules against a code base. Sonar + PL/SQL-Plugin: Uses Toad for Oracle to display code-health the sonar-way. This is for browsing the current state of the code base. Semantic Designs DMSToolkit: Quite general analysis of source code base. Commandline available? Semantic Designs Clones Detector: Detects clones. But also via command line? Fortify Source Code Analyzer: Seems to be focussed on security issues. But maybe it is extensible? more... So far, Toad for Oracle together with Sonar seems to be an elegant solution. But may be we are missing something here? Any ideas? Other products? Experiences?     I'm getting the infamous invalid number Oracle error. Hibernate is issuing an INSERT with a lot of columns, I want to know just the name of the column giving the problem. Is it possible? I hate Oracle messages, in 15 years they haven't improved a bit (the reason why is beyond my imagination).   • What is the maximum number of virtualhosts Apache can handle?

    Hello. What is the maximum number of VirtualHosts Apache can handle on a single machine (I don't mean anything related to load, let's suppose it's irrelevant for the question). And we take only Apache without any proxifying things like nginx. I am asking because on one forum one guy reported that his Apache works unstable with the number of sites more than 400 on a single machine. Would you recommend creating a system user for the django project and use daemon mode? What type of user and what privileges does it need? Can I set ORACLE_HOME, LD_LIBRARY_PATH, PATH=$ORACLE_HOME/bin:$PATH for this user? Would you use a virtualenv for cx_Oracle?     Given a cubic bezier curve P0,P1,P2,P3 with the following properties: • Both P1 and P2 are on the same side of the line formed by P0 and P3. • P2 can be projected onto the line segment formed by P0 and P3 but P1 cannot. What is the T value for the point on the curve farthest from P3? Here is an image with an example curve. The curve bulges on the left, so there is a point on the curve farther from P3 than P0. I found this reference for finding the minimum distance from an arbitrary point to a curve. Is trial and error the only way to solve for maximum distance as well? Does it make any difference that the point is an anchor on the curve? Thanks

    I'm getting this error message "The Maximum string content length quota (8192) has been exceeded while reading XML data. This quotea may be increased by changing the MaxStringContentLength property on the XmlDictionaryReaderQuotas object used when creating the XML reader" In the one of my orchestrations that consumes a wcf webservice (stacktrace indicates the receive shape is where the issue is), It is likely that the response is very large. looking at some of the other questions with this error message the solution is to change a WCF bindings setting in the configuration file. However I can't find these configuration settings when I'm using biztalk. They don't seem to be generated anywhere, should I be trying to add them to BTSNTSVc.exe.config. Any suggestions welcome.

The scenario includes several Oracle db machines several MS SQL Server machines with multiple instances windows services (IIS etc.) BizTalk EAI solution Apache and Tomcat instances lots of scheduled tasks on win2003 and win2008 machines (physical and virtual). The main focus is on capture all dependencies between said databases and services and tasks connecting to them. At the moment an enterprise class solution is not an option. We are considering developing a solution driven by PowerShell scripts but I hope for some more suggestions.

But when i run the report in SSRS and select more than 3 values for the parameter PI_REGION_LIST the report throws an error on this dataset, ora-00939 error,too many arguments for function. I am not able to figure out the error here. Please help me with an idea. Thanks in advance, Suni.

  • ASP.NET Connection time out after being idle for a while

    My ASP.NET website while trying to connect to the database for first time after a period of inactivity throws an time out exception. I understand the connections in the connection pool get terminated after some idle time for some reason (Firewall or Oracle settings) and the pool or app doesn't have a clue about it. Is there any way to validate the connection beforehand so that the first try doesn't throw an exception? I don't have much control over the DB or Firewall settings. So I have to deal with this is my application.(would prefer if there is any web.config settings) I am using: ASP.NET 2.0. Oracle server 11g, Microsoft Enterprise Library DAAB to do all my DB operations. I did some search on this topic but didnt find any solid solution for this yet :(

    I have an MS Access program in use in multiple locations. It connects to MS SQL Server tables, but the server name is different in each location. I am looking for the fastest way to test for the existence of a server. The code takes about one second if the server is available and takes about 8 seconds for each server that is unavailable. I'd like to get both of these lower, if possible, but especially the fail case as this one happens most often.

  • Why does dojo parsing time depend on css and images availability?

    I have been profiling javascript on my page that uses dojo widgets. I don't use explicit parsing - the parser runs on page load. What I noticed is that if I clear browser cache before refreshing the page, dojo parsing takes much more time than if all the files are already cached. Note that we build all the required dojo modules into a layer (a single file), so we don't lazy-load any js files. I wonder if dojo parsing process depends on images and css resources, as far as I know it only instantiates widgets and injects dom nodes. Do you have any ideas why dojo parser runs longer (2-3 times longer in my case) when the cache is cleared?

    Good day. I have stepped into project that requires a server migration that would change the means of authentication for our CAC/PKI SSL enabled website. We are using iPlanet 7 and Oracle Directory Server Enterprise 7 as our LDAP server. The situation is that the site is still CAC/PKI enabled, but at the firewall. The information we want to authenticate against is now in the http header. How do I configure iPlanet and LDAP to authenticate against the header instead of SSL? Thanks. Edit, Can this be done with IIS keeping the Directory Server EE LDAP in tact or is the ACL iPlanet only?

So my question is: using LINQ how would I find the maximum value associated with each distinct key across all of the dictionaries?     Recently I bumped into a problem where my OpenGL program would not render textures correctly on a 2-year-old Lenovo laptop with an nVidia Quadro 140 card. It runs OpenGL 2.1.2, and GLSL 1.20, but when I turned on mip-mapping, the whole screen is black, with no warnings or errors. This is my texture filter code: glTexParameteri(GL_TEXTURE_2D, GL_TEXTURE_MIN_FILTER, GL_LINEAR_MIPMAP_LINEAR); glTexParameteri(GL_TEXTURE_2D, GL_TEXTURE_MAG_FILTER, GL_LINEAR); glTexParameteri(GL_TEXTURE_2D, GL_GENERATE_MIPMAP, GL_TRUE); After 40 minutes of fiddling around, I found out mip-mapping was the problem. Turning it off fixed it: // glTexParameteri(GL_TEXTURE_2D, GL_TEXTURE_MIN_FILTER, GL_LINEAR_MIPMAP_LINEAR); glTexParameteri(GL_TEXTURE_2D, GL_TEXTURE_MIN_FILTER, GL_LINEAR); glTexParameteri(GL_TEXTURE_2D, GL_TEXTURE_MAG_FILTER, GL_LINEAR); // glTexParameteri(GL_TEXTURE_2D, GL_GENERATE_MIPMAP, GL_TRUE); I get a lot of aliasing, but at least the program is visible and runs fine. Finally, two questions: What's the best or standard way to check if mip-mapping is available on a machine, aside from checking OpenGL versions? If mip-mapping is not available, what's the best work-around to avoid aliasing?

  • OracleDataAdapter returns no rows, but the query string works in SQLDeveloper

    visual studion 2008 oracle db 11.1.0.7 oracle client for .NET I have a relatively simple query, that selects the rows from across multiple tables (up to 4) using joins. OracleDataAdapter returns no rows for the only dataset's table, but if I copy and paste that query in SQLDeveloper then I get the desired results. I can get the data from other tables using the adapter with no problem, but it seems like it struggles with the bit longer selection query (string length is ~ 300 (not that much at all)) Connection string for the connection is 100% correct. Any ideas? thank you...

  • Getting user data from Active Directory using PL/SQL

    I had a discussion today regarding an Oracle procedure I wrote some time ago. I wanted to get 7500 user email addresses from Active Directory using PL/SQL. AD will return a maximum of 1000 rows and the LDAP provider used by Oracle will not support paging. Therefore, my solution was to filter on the last two characters of the sAMAccountName (*00,*01,*02...etc.). This results in 126 queries (100 for account names ending in digits, 26 for those ending in a letter...this was sufficient for my AD setup). The person I was speaking to (it was a job interview by the way) said he could have done it a better way, but he would not tell me what that method was. Could anybody hazard a guess at what this method was?

  • If don't own proprietary database engine, what is best way to convert database to mysql?

    I work for a very small company. I was recently faced with the question of whether there is a good way to convert a proprietary database to a MySQL database without owning the proprietary database engine e.g. if one is given a large oracle database file (or choose your favorite proprietary database engine format), but doesn't have a license for the oracle database engine, is there a good, perfectly reliable way to convert it to a MySQL database format that can be read with the MySQL database engine? My question is very vague as to which proprietary format is the source just because there would be multiple sources and it looks like they would be "various and sundry". My suspicion is that there is no perfectly reliable way, especially for a wide variety of proprietary databases. If there are a few proprietary formats for which this is possible, I would still be interested in knowing, though "various and sundry" is probably the real issue. Minimizing cost, effort and correct conversion are key so I think this is probably is the not possible list. -John
