• Displaying wait cursor in while backgroundworker is running

  During the start of my windows application, I have to make a call to a web service to retrieve some default data to load onto my application. During the load of the form, I run a backgroundworker to retrieve this data. I want to display the wait cursor until this data is retrieved. How would I do this? I've tried setting the wait cursor before calling the backgroundworker to run. When I report a progress of 100 then I set it back to the default cursor. The wait cursor comes up but when I move the mouse it disappears. Environment: Windows 7 Pro 64-bit VS2010 C# .NET 4.0 Windows Forms EDIT: I am setting the cursor the way Jay Riggs suggested. • Android ADT Eclipse plugin, parseSDKContent failed

  I've just set up my first Android development environment consisting of Eclipse 3.5 Mac OSX 10.5 Android SDK for x86 macs ADT Eclipse plugin 0.9.6 I've set set $PATH to my SDK/tools directory (which shouldn't matter if I only use Eclipse right?) and started Eclipse, but when I try to set the path to the SDK in Eclipse, i get the error "parseSdkContent failed". • logparser not matching on a LIKE pattern

  Hi I seem to have the strangest problem. I am using logparser to search an event log for some text that I know is there (i copied and pasted the string from the event into the sql search string). But the sql LIKE statement is returning a empty results. But other LIKE statments seem to be working file. • SFx Server Did Not Reply

  have the following problem : For a project I've tentatively created a Silverlight 5 web application and successfully integrated a WCF service. So far so good , in the Visual Studio 2012 environment everything works as intended. The data is processed. Now I wanted to see if it all works well on IIS 7.5 . When I called the test page and spoke to the WCF service Error 405 - Method not allowed occures. After searching I solved the problem with a module allocation for *.svc .                       So, then comes the error 405 although no longer , and the service also reports the status 200 - OK . Unfortunately, the application still does not work . Now this error is reported in Silverlight : The server doenst reply a meaningful response , which may be caused by a non- matching agreement , a premature session shutdown or an internal server error . No idea what I must adjust or change now. Have read on one of the few sites on the topic that is ClientConfig blame, as they would continue as a reference for the *.xap file is valid after publishing , and not used WebConfig ... But according to the error message above, it seems to be problem in the ServiceModel.dll ... Please , can anyone help me resolve this error? Thank you, Roland I uploaded my project. • How to troubleshoot errors with TeamCity

  I'm following this guide to set up a small environment for source control and automated builds - mostly for learning what it is and how it works, but also for using in those of my hobby projects that I believe will actually be useful some day. However, at the step where he commits and builds, I fail to get a success status in the TeamCity history log. I keep getting the error described in the stack trace below. • Visual Studio: Add Item / Add as link rather than just Add

  I'm new to visual studio, coming from Delphi. I have a directory tree full of .cs files (root is \Common). I also have a directory tree full of Applications (root is \Applications) Finally, I've got a tree full of Assemblies (root is \Assemblies) I'd like to keep my .cs files in the Common tree and all the environment voodoo (solutions, projects, settings, metadata, debug data, bin, etc.) in the Assmblies tree. So, for a simple example, I've got an assembly called PdMagic.Common.Math.dll. The Solution and project is located in \Assemblies\Common\Math. All of its source (.cs) files are in \Common\Math. (matrix.cs, trig.cs, mathtypes.cs, mathfuncs.cs, stats.cs, etc.) When I use Add Existing Item to add matrix.cs to my project, a copy of it is added to the \Assemblies\Common\Math folder. I just want to reference it. I don't want multiple copies laying around. I've tried Add Existing Item, and used the drop down to "Add link" rather than just "Add", and that seems to do what I want. Question: What is the "best practice" for this sort of thing? Do most people just put those .cs files all in the same folder as the project? Why isn't "Add link" the default? Thanks!

  Amadeous produces AIR file like below for every flyight reservation. I need to read reservation number and source and destionation airports from this file. I searched goog for "amadeous air format" but havent found format description. Wikipedia entry about EDIFACt is a bit different, it does not describe this content. Where to fnd information about the file structure ? How to parse this file ? I have not idea about the file stucture, does it contain records like sql table or is it some reservation protocol instructions like postscript file ? Application should work in Microsoft Windows and preferably in Visual FoxPro or C# language. FoxPro or Microsoft Visual Studio 2012 Express can used as programming environment Google returns only Amadeus users guides and tutorials like in comment and in http://www.amadeusschweiz.com/en/documentation/usermanuals.html Those are user manuals. Most promising looks Amadeus Air user guide from this: File which I received name was air.txt and first token in file is AIR-BLK206 Maybe BLK206 is some booking format descriptor. Google returns some documens like my using this so it looks like it is commonly used. This file probably describes how to reserve ticket, which produces air.txt file. I seacrched this and ticket user guide for BLK but those do not contains this abbreviation. Commands in user manual look different than those from this file. How to use this information to extract reservation number and destination airport from this file ? I havent found format description using google. There are amadeus user guides, tutorials ja quick reference files similar which you posted but I do'nt understand how to use them to parse this file. One message describes that this is form of EDIFACT. However EDIFACT message sample in Wikipedia is also diffrerent. I need to create quick prototype to customer which shows that we vcan read those files. Maybe there are some programs which can used to display it in human readable form ?

• WCF: Manually configuring Binding and Endpoint causes SerciveChannel Faulted State

  Hi there, I've created a ComVisible assembly to be used in a classic-asp application. The assembly should act as a wcf client and connect to a wcf service host (inside a windows service) on the same machine using named pipes. The wcf service host works fine with other clients, so the problem must be within this assembly. In order to get things work I added a service reference to the ComVisible assembly and proxy classes and the corresponding app.config settings were generated for me. Everything fine so far except that the app config would not be recognized when doing an CreateObject with my assembly in the asp code. • Forbidden Patterns Check-In Policy in TFS 2010

  I've been trying to use the Forbidden Patterns part of the TFS 2010 Power Tools and I'm just not understanding something - I simply cannot get anything to change as I try to use this! I'm using the version that was released recently (I believe April 23, 2010), so it's not an old version. First off, yes, I know it's regex based, so let's clear that doubt... I have tried to block the following scenarios: 1) I have modified all of my T4 EF templates to generate files named EntityName.gen.cs. I then attempted to prevent TFS from wanting to check those files in. I used the regular expression \.gen\.cs\z and it didn't change a single thing! I even tried it without the \z and nadda! 2) I don't want app.config and web.config files to be checked-in by default because we have these things stored into app.config.base and web.config.base files that our build scripts use to generate our per-environment app.config and web.config files. As such, I tried the following regexes and again, nothing worked! web\.config\z, app\.config\z, web\.release\.config\z and web\.debug\.config\z. What is it that I am screwing up with this?

• Using Visual Studio 2008 to Assemble, Link, Debug, and Execute MASM 6.11 Assembly Code

  I would like to use Visual Studio 2008 to the greatest extent possible while effectively compiling/linking/building/etc code as if all these build processes were being done by the tools provided with MASM 6.11. The exact version of MASM does not matter, so long as it's within the 6.x range, as that is what my college is using to teach 16-bit assembly. I have done some research on the subject and have come to the conclusion that there are several options: Reconfigure VS to call the MASM 6.11 executables with the same flags, etc as MASM 6.11 would natively do. Create intermediary batch file(s) to be called by VS to then invoke the proper commands for MASM's linker, etc. Reconfigure VS's built-in build tools/rules (assembler, linker, etc) to provide an environment identical to the one used by MASM 6.11. Option (2) was brought up when I realized that the options available in VS's "External Tools" interface may be insufficient to correctly invoke MASM's build tools, thus a batch file to interpret VS's strict method of passing arguments might be helpful, as a lot of my learning about how to get this working involved my manually calling ML.exe, LINK.exe, etc from the command prompt. Below are several links that may prove useful in answering my question. Please keep in mind that I have read them all and none are the actual solution. I can only hope my specifying MASM 6.11 doesn't prevent anyone from contributing a perhaps more generalized answer. • Code sign error with Xcode 3.2

  I had a fully working build environment before upgrading to iPhone OS 3.1 and Xcode 3.2. Now when I try to do a build, i get the following: Code Sign error: Provisioning profile 'FooApp test' specifies the Application Identifier 'no.fooapp.iphoneapp' which doesn't match the current setting 'TGECMYZ3VK.no.fooapp.iphoneapp' The problem is that Xcode somehow manages to think that the "FooApp Test" provisioning profile specifies the Application Identifier "no.fooapp.iphoneapp", but this is not the case. In the Organizer (and in the iPhone developer portal website) the app identifier is correctly seen as 'TGECMYZ3VK.no.fooapp.iphoneapp'. Also, when setting the provisioning profile in the build options at the project level, Xcode correctly identifies the app identifier, but when I go to the target, I'm unable to select any valid provisioning profile. What could be causing this problem? Update: I've tried to create a new provisioning profile, but still no luck. I also tried simply changing the app identified in Info.plist to just "no.fooapp.iphoneapp". The build succeeds, but now I get an error from the Organizer: The executable was signed with invalid entitlements. The entitlements specified in your application's Code Signing Entitlements file do not match those specified in your provisioning profile. (0xE8008016). This seems reasonable, as the provisioning profile still has the "TGECMYZ3VK.no.fooapp.iphoneapp" application identifier. I also double checked that all certiicates are valid in the Keychain. So my question is how I can get Xcode to see the correct application identifier? UPDATE: As noted below, what seems to fix the problem is deleting all provisioning profiles, certificates etc, making new certificates / profiles and installing them again. If anyone has any other solutions, they would be welcome. :)

• Uploadify & Integrated Windows Authentication

  Hi guys I'm running into an issue with Uploadify and I hope someone can help. I have put Uploadify into my app and all works fine in dev (using the VS web server). All worked fine and checked until I deployed the app into my test environment which uses Integrated Windows Authentication. When I actually go to upload the file, the browser brings up a login prompt. At this point, even if you type in the correct username and password, the request seems not to complete and even if you tell the browser to remember the password it still brings up the login prompt. When this started to occur, I decided to spin up Fiddler and see what was going on. But guess what, when ever Fiddler is running the issue doesn't occur. Unfortunately I can't make running Fiddler a reuqierment for running the app. Hence does anyone have any ideas. I know there are some issues with Uploadify/flash when using forms authentication but I didn't think they carried across to Integrated Windows Authentication. Cheers Anthony

  I have a DLL that I would like to install into the Global Assembly Cache so that it can be referenced from multiple locations. I have a File declaration with the Assembly attribute set to ".net" but when the installation tries to install the DLL into the GAC, I get the following error (I have tided it up a bit to make it more readable): MSI (s) (58:38) [19:14:31:031]: Product: MyProductName 1.01 -- Error 1935. • Tracking changes in Entity Framework 4.0 using POCO Dynamic Proxies across multiple data contexts.

  I started messing with EF 4.0 because I am curious about the POCO possibilities... I wanted to simulate disconnected web environment and wrote the following code to simulate this: Save a test object in the database. Retrieve the test object Dispose of the DataContext associated with the test object I used to retrieve it Update the test object Create a new data context and persist the changes on the test object that are automatically tracked within the DynamicProxy generated against my POCO object. The problem is that when I call dataContext.SaveChanges in the Test method above, the updates are not applied. The testStore entity shows a status of "Modified" when I check its EntityStateTracker, but it is no longer modified when I view it within the new dataContext's Stores property. I would have thought that calling the Attach method on the new dataContext would also bring the object's "Modified" state over, but that appears to not be the case. Is there something I am missing? • Enabling Session State in SharePoint 2010?

  I have a web service built for SharePoint 2007 that I am trying to port to SharePoint 2010. This web service is dependent on session state to function properly, but so far, I have been enable to get session state to work at all in SharePoint 2010. This web service runs as its own web application under t he /_vti_bin virtual directory. I have tried all of the following with no luck: Ensured the "State Service" service application is running. Added the System.Web.SessionState.SessionStateModule http module to my application's web.config file. Added the System.Web.SessionState.SessionStateModule http module to my SharePoint root web.config file. Added <pages enableSessionState="true" /> to my application's web.config file. Added <pages enableSessionState="true" /> to my root web.config file. Additional Environment info: Visual Studio 2008 - SP1 .NET 3.5 - SP1 SharePoint 2010 - RC Windows Server 2008 R2 ASMX web service (not WCF) Had anyone had any luck getting a web application or web service to use session state in SharePoint 2010 yet?   I'm trying to crash my WPF application, and capture the exception using the above new .Net 4 attribute. I managed to manually crash my application by calling Environment.FailFast("crash");. (Also managed to crash it using Hans's code from here: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2950130/how-to-simulate-a-corrupt-state-exception-in-net-4). The app calls the above crashing code when pressing on a button. The windows installer that is available through their website works fine. Since i wanted to modify it, I got the source code and built the jar and tried to launch it.   I am trying to save some c# source code into the database. Basically I have a RichTextBox that users can type their code and save that to the database. When I copy and paste from the visual studio environment, I would like to preserve the formating etc. So I have chosen to save the FlowDocuments Xaml to the database and set this back to the RichTextBox.Document. My below two function serialise and deserialise the RTB's contents. private string GetXaml(FlowDocument document) { if (document == null) return String.Empty; else{ StringBuilder sb = new StringBuilder(); XmlWriter xw = XmlWriter.Create(sb); XamlDesignerSerializationManager sm = new XamlDesignerSerializationManager(xw); sm.XamlWriterMode = XamlWriterMode.Expression; XamlWriter.Save(document, sm ); return sb.ToString(); } } private FlowDocument GetFlowDocument(string xamlText) { var flowDocument = new FlowDocument(); if (xamlText != null) flowDocument = (FlowDocument)XamlReader.Parse(xamlText); // Set return value return flowDocument; } However when I try to serialise and deserialise the following code, I am noticing this incorrect(?) behaviour using System; public class TestCSScript : MarshalByRefObject { } Serialised XAML is using System; public class TestCSScript : MarshalByRefObject {}{ } Notice the the new set of "{}" What am I doing wrong here...   In .NET 4 and multicore environment, does the linq to sql datacontext object take advantage of the new parallels if we use DataLoadOptions.LoadWith? EDIT I know linq to sql does not parallelize ordinary queries. What I want to know is when we specify DataLoadOption.LoadWith, does it use parallelization to perform the match between each entity and its sub entities? • Measuring "real" phone signal strength on a mobile phone

  I want to programmatically measure the phone signal strength in a mobile phone. I don't actually care about the mobile phone or the programming environment: It can be based on android or windows mobile or even J2ME and can be from any manufacturer (please no iPhone). However, it needs to be a real, commercial mobile phone and not a special measurement device. This problem is not as easy as it seems with a first look. I am aware that there already exist a number of methods that claim to return the phone signal strength. Some of these are: SystemState.PhoneSignalStrength for WM6 RIL_GetCellTowerInfo for WinCe (dwRxLevel member of returned RILCELLTOWERINFO struct) android.telephony.NeighboringCellInfo.getRssi() for android The problem with the above is that they only return a few (under 10) discrete values, meaning that, for instance, the return values of SystemState.PhoneSignalStrength can only be translated to (for instance) -100 dbm, -90 dbm, -80 dbm, -70 dbm and -60 dbm, something that is not useful for my application, since I'd like to have as much precision as possible. It doesn't matter if there is an undocumented solution that only works on only one phone, if you can tell me a way I'd be grateful. Thanks in advance

  I have taken backup of SQL Server 2008 DB on server, and download them to local environment. I am trying to restore that database and it is keep on giving me following error. An exception occurred while executing a Transact-SQL statement or batch. (Microsoft.SqlServer.ConnectionInfo) ------------------------------ ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: The media family on device 'C:\go4sharepoint_1384_8481.bak' is incorrectly formed. SQL Server cannot process this media family. RESTORE HEADERONLY is terminating abnormally. (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 3241) For help, click: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink?ProdName=Microsoft+SQL+Server&ProdVer=09.00.4053&EvtSrc=MSSQLServer&EvtID=3241&LinkId=20476 I have tried to create a temp DB on server and tried to restore the same backup file and that works. After that I tried to execute following command on server. BACKUP DATABASE go4sharepoint_1384_8481 TO DISK=' C:\HostingSpaces\dbname_jun14_2010_new.bak' with FORMAT And it is giving me following error. Msg 3201, Level 16, State 1, Line 1 Cannot open backup device 'c:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL10.SQLEXPRESS\MSSQL\Backup\ C:\HostingSpaces\dbname_jun14_2010_new.bak'. Operating system error 123(The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect.). Msg 3013, Level 16, State 1, Line 1 BACKUP DATABASE is terminating abnormally.
