  • Scroll bar for vim(curses-based one, not gvim)?

    As a Linux user, I have been quite comfortable with CLI and TUI tools, but I miss the little scrollbar present in almost every GUI program. It has always been easier for me to know how long the file is and where I am from the scrollbar instead of "9752 lines, 24%". What I expect is a ASCII scrollbar that looks like | | | | # # # | | | and I can configure to appear on the left or right (and if on the left, the relative position to line numbers and fold marks). Is there already a Vim plugin to do this, or how can I write my own one? Vim's plugin framework doesn't seem to support such UI modifications directly.

    We'd like to run an scan on our site that returns a report with the following: each image tag found and a visual representation of that image on the report the alt tag for that image (also identify if an alt tag not found) Is there a simple tool that does this? We're attempting to check for alt tags, and make sure the alt tags accurately describe to the image they represent. That's why the visual representation in the report is important.

  • How can I make the Entity data model designer use my database column descriptions?

    I am using EF4 with Visual Studio 2010. I have a SQL database already created and all my columns are documented with the Description property in SQL management studio. When I create the edmx in Visual Studio, how can I make it read those descriptions and use them to add comments to my generated classes? I know I can use the Summary and LongDescription in the edmx properties but I'm looking for a way to do this without having to copy and paste every description. Thanks!

Is this because the webserver is trying to access content that is cached on the other web server? Shall I add IPs to W3 plugin of both web servers on each website (192.168.1.:11211, 192.168.1.2:11211)? I'm not sure if this related to Memcached or maybe some configuration issue on the server itself? Regards

    I've just spent thousands of dollars on VSTS 2008 and thought that the usual Dotfuscaor Comunity Edition would've been upgraded to the pro version in this version of visual studio. After spending a fortune on Visual Studio Team Suite you would think you would get a full featured obfuscator for free. Now I have to spend another couple K for a PreEmptive Dotobfuscator license. What gives? What full featured (free) obfuscator do you all use?

  • Windows log file monitor that supports custom events (eg. sending an email when it detects the string "ERROR")

    I know this question has been asked several times before but I can't seem to find a solution for my requirements. I currently use BareTail, which works wonderfully except that it doesn't support custom events besides line highlighting. I'm also trying TailForWin32. It has a SMTP plugin but it seems to be in beta status, and the highlighting seems limited. It also doesn't handle rolling log files very well (a blocking dialog box pops up, whereas BareTail just rolls over naturally). All I really need is something like BareTail that supports custom events. First prize would be a tool with a plugin-based architecture so I can use my own messaging plugins, but anything that supports SMTP mail would be fine as well.

  • What is this PHP process? It is crippling my server

    This process has been using 65% of my site CPU and has lasted for about 10 minutes now (aren't processes only supposed to go for a couple seconds?) It is obviously something with mysql. This makes sense because I have a lot of queries going, but something still seems a bit odd... This could have something to do with my bad PDO connection that I mentioned in the previous question. Perhaps I am opening too many connections or something like that?   • Saving backup files automatically in (g)Vim after saving a file.

    I had a problem with my gVim. I lost some important modifications after I plugged on my machine after a hibernating process. To avoid this kind of problem, I would like to know if it's possible to add something in my .vimrc (or a plugin) that automatically backups all saving made to my files. Disk space is not an issue, I can delete these files after. I'm already using set backup set backupdir=~/.backup/vim set directory=~/.swap/vim This creates a myfile.extension~ in my .backup/vim. ...but I would like this configuration to add ~ to first save, ~0 to second, ~1 to third, ~2 to fourth, and so on - something that keeps copies from all modifications I made to a file. Is this possible? Do you know if there's a plugin for this?

    I have to install windows service using Visual Studio. Target location for the install is handled by “DefaultLocation” property in Visual Studio setup project. I had used [AppDataFolder] tag to install the application. As the result, it has been installed in “C:\Users[username]\AppData*Roaming*” folder. I can not figure out how to modify “DefaultLocation” property in such a way that application will be installed in C:\Users[username]\AppData*Local* folder. Any idea how to accomplish that?

    Does anyone know of a stand-alone tool for C# code cleaning/auditing that can run outside of Visual Studio IDE so as to be part of a build. Or if that isn't possible can someone provide some guidance as to how to make Visual Studio part of a build process -- by that I mean it would be nice to run the IDE's Sort and Remove unused using statements on all files as part of the build, but even better would be an exe that can read the .sln, or .csproj and do the job as part of build system.     I was having a very hard time getting webex to work under Saucy. Up until now I've been able to just install a java plugin, install ia32-libs, and I was good to go. With Saucy ia32-libs is gone and it's up to us to figure out which 32-bit libraries we need to install. I struggled with this for a few days trying blindly to install this and that until I found a way to get exactly what I need. I got the clue I needed from this post: http://blogs.kde.org/2013/02/05/ot-how-get-webex-working-suse-linux-122-64bit#comment-9534 and for anyone who wants it, here is a step-by-step method to follow that works every time (so far) ***Install JDK and configure java plugin for browser. No need for a 32-bit JDK or Firefox ***Try to start a webex. This will create $HOME/.webex/1324/ ***Check those .so libraries for unresolved dependencies by running ldd against them. For example: ldd $HOME/.webex/1324/*.so >>check.txt Look in check.txt for anything that is not found.     Firefox 15 includes an all new PDF reader built into the browser–for those of you wondering, that means you can finally disable the Adobe PDF Plugin and uninstall it once and for all. Note: obviously if you need to access more advanced PDF features, you’ll still need the Adobe plugin. For most of us, however, the built-in viewer is fine, or you could download PDF files and read them in the offline Adobe Reader. Enabling Firefox’s Built-in PDF Reader Open Firefox and navigate to about:config. This will bring up a sarcastic warning telling you that you might void your warranty, just click the “I’ll be careful, I promise!” button to move on. Now you will need to search for: browser.preferences.inContent When you find it, right click on it and select Toggle from the context menu. Next you will need enable the actual PDF Reader feature, you can do this by searching for: pdfjs.disabled That’s all there is to it, you can even drag PDF files on your local machine on t0 the Firefox windows to view them!     Using Shotwell, I discovered that to publish to Flickr I need to set up an online account. But the online-accounts system settings only has support for Google, Facebook, Windows Live, Microsoft Exchange and Enterprise Login (Kerberos). How do I add account types? These appear to be properly installed (dpkg-reconfigure returns silently): gnome-control-center-signon is already the newest version. account-plugin-yahoo is already the newest version. account-plugin-flickr is already the newest version.
