• Windows 7 - 64 Computer shuts off unexpectedly

  I have a home built Windows 7 x64 computer with a Core 2 Quad CPU. It has recently taken to suddenly shutting down/turning off at unusual intervals. It seems to be most common when playing media. I have tried running SpeedFan, and the CPU temp seems to hover around 49C. The computer has been running fine for over 1 years. Could heat be my problem, and how should I address it?

  I noticed everytime my dell inspiron 1420 wakes up from sleep the screen will flicker a lot. some times violently. I'm not sure what the problem is. • Windows Server not installing audio drivers properly

  I am trying to install a dummy sound card on a Windows Server machine (in Amazon EC2 cloud) in order for one of my application to work. I'm trying to accomplish that with Virtual Audio Cable and REAUDIO3. Both tools managed to install a new device on my Windows XP machine, but on Windows Server, no new devices appear. Windows Audio and Plug and Play services are Started and Automatic. ANY ideas are greatly appreciated.

Is there a way to have the WS on server 2 automatically pick up when the WS on server 1 is unavailable, without having to reconfigure the clients (which are desktop applications in this case).   I wonder, if there are any faster builds of zlib around with more advanced optimizations? If it's possible to optimize it using SSE instructions or Intel C++ compiller, or some trick which were patented earlier (I know patents were a serious limitation during gzip/zlib development), have anyone bothered to implement that? I am especially interested in compression speed, which have a direct impact on high-performance web-services serving static & dynamic content.

  I use the GMall 'Call phone' feature a lot, and the numeric keyboard pad works great for entering conference codes, but most conference call services want you "Enter your conference code followed by the 'hash' or 'pound' sign. So I end up typing the 10 digit conference code using the keyboard but then I have to use my mouse to push the # or hash sign. Is their a way to push the # with the keyboard?

  When seeing the Windows Server 2008 R2 edition comparision by Role, i noticed that there is an entry for Application Server separate from that of IIS. http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserver2008/en/us/r2-compare-roles.aspx What is confusing me is that for Web edition, "Application Server" is not ticked but IIS is ticked. Isnt IIS both the web server and the application server in Windows? And if so, if i take the web edition, can i not host my business components (WCF services)on it because it is not an "Application Server" ?
