• Displaying FontFamily in Combobox

  Hi. My goal is to manipulate the text-styles of my application via DependencyProperties. I got a diagram in which the texts are to be manipulated in size, fontfamily, color, etc. So I'd like to use an interface similar to a rich text editor like Word. I'm using this code in my TextStyleVM http://shevaspace.blogspot.com/2006/12/i-have-some-fun-with-formattedtext_14.html So I have a FontFamilyProperty and a Getter and Setter for it: public static DependencyProperty FontFamilyProperty = DependencyProperty.Register( "FontFamily", typeof(FontFamily), typeof(OutlinedText), new FrameworkPropertyMetadata( SystemFonts.MessageFontFamily, FrameworkPropertyMetadataOptions.AffectsRender | FrameworkPropertyMetadataOptions.AffectsMeasure), new ValidateValueCallback(IsValidFontFamily)); public FontFamily FontFamily { get { return (FontFamily)base.GetValue(FontFamilyProperty); } set { base.SetValue(FontFamilyProperty, value); } } Then there is a ToStyle method, which sets the style for the labels of the diagram, which are to be manipulated: Style style = new Style(); Binding fontFamilyBinding = new Binding("FontFamily"); fontFamilyBinding.Source = this; Setter fontFamilySetter = new Setter(); fontFamilySetter.Property = TextBlock.FontFamilyProperty; fontFamilySetter.Value = fontFamilyBinding; style.Setters.Add(fontFamilySetter); return style; Now this works for a TextBox. The textbox displays the current FontFamily, and if I enter a new, valid FontFamily like Arial into the textbox the FontFamily of the labels are changed. However, what I'd like to have is a combobox, which displays the SystemFonts and where I can choose one FontFamily for my labels. However, the binding doesn't seem to work. Neither the system fonts nor the current fonts of the labels are displayed. The combobox is just empty. This is my xaml: <r:RibbonLabel Content="FontFamily" /> <!--these do not work--> <r:RibbonComboBox SelectedItem="{Binding FontFamily}"/> <r:RibbonComboBox ItemsSource="{Binding FontFamily}"/> <!--this works--> <r:RibbonTextBox Text="{Binding FontFamily}"/> Now, I assume I have to set a different Setter for a ComboBox in the ToStyle Method. But I have no clue, which one. Maybe someting like this: fontFamilySetter.Property = ComboBox.ItemSource; However, if I set that Property, the TextBox still works. So is this the wrong place to start at? I'd also be grateful if someone could hint me to some documentation about using these Style-, Setter-, Binding-key-words, which are used in the ToStyle method, since this is somebody elses code I'm working with.

However if I make use of Nhibernate Profiler and invoke this in my test case: NHibernateProfiler.Intialize() Where NHProf uses a similar approach to capture logging output from NHibernate for analysis via log4net etc. then my QueryCounter starts working. It looks like I'm missing something in my code to get log4net configured correctly for logging nhibernate sql ... does anyone have any pointers on what else I need to do to get sql logging output from Nhibernate?

  About a year ago the following paragraph was added to the GCC Manual, version 4.3.4, regarding -fstrict-aliasing: Similarly, access by taking the address, casting the resulting pointer and dereferencing the result has undefined behavior [emphasis added], even if the cast uses a union type, e.g.: union a_union { int i; double d; }; int f() { double d = 3.0; return ((union a_union *)&d)->i; } Does anyone have an example to illustrate this undefined behavior? Note this question is not about what the C99 standard says, or does not say. It is about the actual functioning of gcc, and other existing compilers, today. My simple, naive, attempt fails. • How do I use data from the main window in a sub-window?

  I've just started working on a photo viewer type desktop AIR app with Flex. From the main window I can launch sub-windows, but in these sub-windows I can't seem to access the data I collected in the main window. How can I access this data? Or, how can I send this data to the sub-window on creation? • Flex bug?? Get messed up stacked ColumnChart with type="100%"

  I am trying to do a stacked Column chart with type="100%" and a mixture of positive and negative values. When all the values are positive, is functions well, but when negative numbers come to the game, it looks totally messed up. Isn't it a Flex Bug? I have my own case with such data and it behaves wrong the same way. I'd expect that if it has 800 stacked on -200, it will show 80% up and 20% down, totalling 100%. • WiX 3 Tutorial: Generating file/directory fragments with Heat.exe

  In previous posts I’ve shown you our SuperForm test application solution structure and how the main wxs and wxi include file look like. In this post I’ll show you how to automate inclusion of files to install into your build process. For our SuperForm application we have a single exe to install. But in the real world we have 10s or 100s of different files from dll’s to resource files like pictures. It all depends on what kind of application you’re building. Writing a directory structure for so many files by hand is out of the question. What we need is an automated way to create this structure. Enter Heat.exe. Heat is a command line utility to harvest a file, directory, Visual Studio project, IIS website or performance counters. You might ask what harvesting means? Harvesting is converting a source (file, directory, …) into a component structure saved in a WiX fragment (a wxs) file. There are 2 options you can use: Create a static wxs fragment with Heat and include it in your project. The pro of this is that you can add or remove components by hand. The con is that you have to do the pro part by hand. Automation always beats manual labor. Run heat command line utility in a pre-build event of your WiX project. I prefer this way. By always recreating the whole fragment you don’t have to worry about missing any new files you add. The con of this is that you’ll include files that you otherwise might not want to. There is no perfect solution so pick one and deal with it. I prefer using the second way. A neat way of overcoming the con of the second option is to have a post-build event on your main application project (SuperForm.MainApp in our case) to copy the files needed to be installed in a special location and have the Heat.exe read them from there. I haven’t set this up for this tutorial and I’m simply including all files from the default SuperForm.MainApp \bin directory. Remember how we created a System Environment variable called SuperFormFilesDir? This is where we’ll use it for the first time. The command line text that you have to put into the pre-build event of your WiX project looks like this: "$(WIX)bin\heat.exe" dir "$(SuperFormFilesDir)" -cg SuperFormFiles -gg -scom -sreg -sfrag -srd -dr INSTALLLOCATION -var env.SuperFormFilesDir -out "$(ProjectDir)Fragments\FilesFragment.wxs" After you install WiX you’ll get the WIX environment variable. In the pre/post-build events environment variables are referenced like this: $(WIX). By using this you don’t have to think about the installation path of the WiX. Remember: for 32 bit applications Program files folder is named differently between 32 and 64 bit systems. $(ProjectDir) is obviously the path to your project and is a Visual Studio built in variable. You can view all Heat.exe options by running it without parameters but I’ll explain some that stick out the most. dir "$(SuperFormFilesDir)": tell Heat to harvest the whole directory at the set location. That is the location we’ve set in our System Environment variable. –cg SuperFormFiles: the name of the Component group that will be created. This name is included in out Feature tag as is seen in the previous post. -dr INSTALLLOCATION: the directory reference this fragment will fall under. You can see the top level directory structure in the previous post. -var env.SuperFormFilesDir: the name of the variable that will replace the SourceDir text that would otherwise appear in the fragment file. -out "$(ProjectDir)Fragments\FilesFragment.wxs": the full path and name under which the fragment file will be saved. If you have source control you have to include the FilesFragment.wxs into your project but remove its source control binding. • WiX 3 Tutorial: Understanding main WXS and WXI file

  In the previous post we’ve taken a look at the WiX solution/project structure and project properties. We’re still playing with our super SuperForm application and today we’ll take a look at the general parts of the main wxs file, SuperForm.wxs, and the wxi include file. For wxs file we’ll just go over the general description of what each part does in the code comments. The more detailed descriptions will be in future posts about features themselves. WXI include file Include files are exactly what their name implies. To include a wxi file into the wxs file you have to put the wxi at the beginning of each .wxs file you wish to include it in. If you’ve ever worked with C++ you can think of the include files as .h files. For example if you include SuperFormVariables.wxi into the SuperForm.wxs, the variables in the wxi won’t be seen in FilesFragment.wxs or RegistryFragment.wxs. You’d have to include it manually into those two wxs files too. For preprocessor variable $(var.VariableName) to be seen by every file in the project you have to include them in the WiX project properties->Build->“Define preprocessor variables” textbox. This is why I’ve chosen not to go this route because in multi developer teams not everyone has the same directory structure and having a single variable would mean each developer would have to checkout the wixproj file to edit the variable. This is pretty much unacceptable by my standards. This is why we’ve added a System Environment variable named SuperFormFilesDir as is shown in the previous Wix Tutorial post. Because the FilesFragment.wxs is autogenerated on every project build we don’t want to change it manually each time by adding the include wxi at the beginning of the file. The code comments should provide plenty info about what each part does in general. Basically there are 5 major parts. • How to intercept raw soap request/response (data) from WCF client

  This question seems to be pretty close to what I am looking for - I was able to setup tracing and I am looking at the log entries for my calls to the service. However I need to see the raw soap request with the data I am sending to the service and I see no way of doing that from the SvcTraceViewer (only log entries are shown but no data sent to the service) - am I just missing configuration? • subscription in reporting services

  I want to subscribe report on specific schedule in reporting services 2008. i.e report will dilever to user automatically on schedule. I am using visual studio 2008. I have done the configuration setting (rsreportserver.config, app.config after adding refrences of asmx files) by refrence msdn. The code is running fine (no exception occur) and I also get subscription id through calling create subscription indicate all going fine. But after running the code no entry made in Subscription table of ReportServer database. And also not get any mail. While through report server web tool, I can get email and also entery made in database but not from coe. Please someone help me. What I am missing. • How to group using XSLT

  I'm having trouble grouping a set of nodes. I've found an article that does work with grouping and i have tested it and it works on a small test stylesheet i have I now need to use it in my stylesheet where I only want to select node sets that have a specific value. What I want to do in my stylesheet is select all users who have a userlevel of 2 then to group them by the volunteer region. What happens at the minute is that it gets the right amount of users with userlevel 2 but doesn't print them.   I just added this to my web.xml on my JBOSS server. But it had no effect. I am still allowed to connect to ports that do not use bi-directional certificate exchange. • creating a tooltip for a line drawn on cartesiandatacanvas in flex

  I am trying to draw a line on cartesiandatacanvas. While I am able to draw lines easily using the canvas.moveTo and canvas.lineTo methods, I cannot provide a tooltip to the line if I use that functionality. I have tried creating a label(when ever I draw a line) and adding a tooltip to it but since I show the lines in a 10*10 grid both vertical and horizontal there is a overlap and it is confusing. So now I am trying to create a line object that extends shape or UIComponent. I cannot add this object to canvas using the addChild method it does not work. The addDataChild method works but it messes with the positioning of the line. Can someone help with a solution to this. Simply put I want to draw lines on a datacanvas and add tooltips to them. • Very Strange behavior in custom dataGrid

  Hi everybody, I asked this question already in a former post, but nobody could answer this question correctly. So I try to post the problem again, to make sure it's not a bug. I have a dataGrid with a custom itemRenderer. Everytime I tab at least two times on the dataGrid, the cell below the one I taped gets selected. This doesn't happen if I uncomment the code in the method saveBackDataGridContent()! The second problem is that if the Line is shorter than the entered text, a horizontalScrollBar will get active, although I set setStyle("horizontalScrollPolicy", "off");... Who can solve that one?
