  • Retrieving JSON from a web URL

    - by npeterson
This may be a terribly uninformed question, brace yourself. A company I'm working with has given an 'API' that I can use to access orders, however, there are only two real commands, getorders and getorderdetails. These commands are put in the format of http://www.server.com/path/to/the/orderapi/getorders/UniqueKey/ If I go to that web address, I'm prompted for a username and password, and once authenticating, get presented with a page of JSON formatted order details, contained in the body of the html page. I would like a service to check this information and create orders in our crm based on it, is there an obvious way to access it without the browser/client interaction?

  • Maven mercurial extension constantly fails

    - by TheLQ
After 2+ hours I was able to get the maven-scm-provider-hg extension (for pushing to mercurial repos from Maven) semi working, meaning that it was executing commands instead of just giving errors. However I think I've run into a wall with this error [INFO] [deploy:deploy {execution: default-deploy}] [INFO] Retrieving previous build number from pircbotx.googlecode.com [INFO] Removing C:\DOCUME~1\Owner\LOCALS~1\Temp\wagon-scm1210107000.checkout\pir cbotx\pircbotx\1.3-SNAPSHOT [INFO] EXECUTING: cmd.exe /X /C "hg clone -r tip https://*SNIP*@site.pircbotx.googlecode.com/hg/maven2/snapshots/pircbotx/pircbotx/1.3-SNAPSHOT C:\DOCUME~1\Owner\LOCALS~1\Temp\wagon-scm1210107000.checkout\pircbotx\pircbotx\1.3-SNAPSHOT" [INFO] EXECUTING: cmd.exe /X /C "hg locate" [INFO] repository metadata for: 'snapshot pircbotx:pircbotx:1.3-SNAPSHOT' could not be found on repository: pircbotx.googlecode.com, so will be created Uploading: scm:hg:https://site.pircbotx.googlecode.com/hg/maven2/snapshots/pircbotx/pircbotx/1.3-SNAPSHOT/pircbotx-1.3-SNAPSHOT.jar [INFO] ------------------------------------------------------------------------ [ERROR] BUILD ERROR [INFO] ------------------------------------------------------------------------ [INFO] Error deploying artifact: Error listing repository: No such command 'list'. • Rails3 and `cd somehwere && do something`

    - by Samer Abukhait
I have a rails project that has other projects under it, sub-projects have rake and bundler files. When I do ruby -e `cd sub-project && rake`, or ruby -e `cd sub-project && bundle`, commands work as expected and use the sub-project rake/bundler files. However, when I do the same thing from a Rails3 console (rails 3.0.3), rake gives the error no such file to load -- initializer, and bundle operates as if it was fired from the root directory. I tried the same commands from a Rails2.3.10 console and they worked as expected. Is Rails3 doing something wrong here? I am using Ruby 1.9.2 via RVM. $ ruby -v ruby 1.9.2p136 (2010-12-25 revision 30365) [i686-linux]

  • On Ubuntu, how do you install a newer version of python and keep the older python version?

    - by Trevor Boyd Smith
Background: I am using Ubuntu The newer python version is not in the apt-get repository (or synaptic) I plan on keeping the old version as the default python when you call "python" from the command line I plan on calling the new python using pythonX.X (X.X is the new version). Given the background, how do you install a newer version of python and keep the older python version? I have downloaded from python.org the "install from source" *.tgz package. The readme is pretty simple and says "execute three commands: ./configure; make; make test; sudo make install;" If I do the above commands, will the installation overwrite the old version of python I have (I definitely need the old version)?

  • How to download the Enthought Tool Suite python script?

    - by user1539217
I have Python downloaded already, but want to contribute code to the Enthought Tool Suite (ETS). According to this site (http://code.enthought.com/source/): it says to download the following python script: https://raw.github.com/enthought/ets/master/ets.py I put the ets.py into the python script, save as...and in the Python Shell, I typed in "import ets" However, nothing happens. Also, the site says to run the following commands: $ mkdir ets $ cd ets # and copy ets.py here $ python ets.py clone Typing those lines in Python Shell gives me the message: "SyntaxError: invalid syntax" As you can see, I'm new to Python, and I don't know what I'm doing. How do I download the ETS script and run the commands??

  • problem with trying to create ssms add-in

    - by Karl
I'm trying to create an add-in for SSMS 2008 and/or 2008 R2 but I've run into a problem straight away. I can get my add-in to work and on SSMS start-up get it to simply show a message box. However, after downloading various code-samples, when trying to reference Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.UI.VSIntegration.ServiceCache I get a null reference exception: Commands2 commands = (Commands2)ServiceCache.ExtensibilityModel.Commands; I get this problem when using SSMS 2008 or SSMS 2008 R2. I'm working on Visual Studio 2010. It's a bit frustrating because I'm keen to learn more about SSMS add-ins but can't seem to get past the few samples out there. Any advice/tips appreciated. Thanks

  • GDB question - how do I go through disassembled code line by line?

    - by user324994
I'd like to go through a binary file my teacher gave me line by line to check addresses on the stack and the contents of different registers, but I'm not extremely familiar with using gdb. Although I have the C code, we're supposed to work entirely from a binary file. Here are the commands I've used so far: (gdb) file SomeCode Which gives me this message: Reading symbols from ../overflow/SomeCode ...(no debugging symbols found)...done. Then I use : (gdb) disas main which gives me all of the assembly. I wanted to set up a break point and use the "next" command, but none of the commands I tried work. Does anyone know the syntax I would use?

  • Are there any kata for practice VIM?

    - by Grzegorz Gierlik
I've used VIM for many years as my primary text editor. And I am still learning how to use VIM for various editing tasks. The problem is that even if I learn something and use it once a week I forgot soon how I did it -- classic case is search and replace in many buffers using bufdo :(. I was wondering if there is any kata to daily VIM practice including many VIM commands: open existing files, create new files, edit files and move around: move cursor (beginning & end of line/function/block/screen, top & bottom of screen, move screen line up/down, etc.), mark, copy & paste, insert & remove characters/words/lines, move between buffers, move between windows, arrange windows, search & replace, repeat last command, formatting (=), probably some more (bookmarks, macros). save files, create/update/save an open projects (mksession and source). Do you know any kata for VIM of tutorial which could help to practice all above (and more) VIM commands?

  • How to get a 64 bit dll with c source file, def file, link file by using command line in vc 6.0

    - by allan
Hi, all My compile environment is windows xp and vc 6.0. Now I have a c source file(msgRout.c), def file(msgRout.def), link file(msgRout.link), then I use commands below to get a 32 bit dll: 1.cl /I ../include -c -W3 -Gs- -Z7 -Od -nologo -LD -D_X86_=1 -DWIN32 -D_WIN32 -D_MT -D_DLL msgRout.c 2.lib -out:msgRout.lib -def:msgRout.def -machine:i386 3.link /LIBPATH:../../Lib -nod -nologo -debug:full -dll @msgRout.link -out:msgRout.dll But the dll I got cannot be loaded on X64 application. it required a 64 bit dll. So here is my question: Can I get a 64 bit dll with vc 6.0? Using only above 3 commands alike, how can I get 64 bit dll? Many GREAT THANKS!!! Allan

  • Windows cmd.exe output in PowerShell

    - by noledgeispower
    I have a script for remotely executing commands on other machines, however... when using windows cmd.exe commands It does not write to the file on the remote server. Here is the code. $server = 'serverName' $Username = 'userName' $Password = 'passWord' $cmd = "cmd /c ipconfig" ######################## ######################## $ph = "C:\mPcO.txt" $rph = "\\$server\C$\mPcO.txt" $cmde = "$cmd > $ph" $pass = ConvertTo-SecureString -AsPlainText $Password -Force $mycred = new-object -typename System.Management.Automation.PSCredential -argumentlist "$Username",$pass Invoke-WmiMethod win32_process -name create -ComputerName $server -ArgumentList $cmde Credential $mycred cmd /c net use \\$server\C$ $password /USER:$username Get-Content $rph Remove-Item $rph cmd /c net use \\$server\C$ /delete As you can see we simply write $cmde = "$cmd > $ph" if I use a PowerShell command I use $cmde = "$cmd | Out-File $ph" and it works fine. Any advice Appreciated

  • Using Unix Process Controll Methods in Ruby

    - by John F. Miller
Ryan Tomayko touched off quite a fire storm with this post about using Unix process control commands. We should be doing more of this. A lot more of this. I'm talking about fork(2), execve(2), pipe(2), socketpair(2), select(2), kill(2), sigaction(2), and so on and so forth. These are our friends. They want so badly just to help us. I have a bit of code (a delayed_job clone for DataMapper that I think would fit right in with this, but I'm not clear on how to take advantage of the listed commands. Any Ideas on how to improve this code? def start say "*** Starting job worker #{@name}" t = Thread.new do loop do delay = Update.work_off(self) break if $exit sleep delay break if $exit end clear_locks end trap('TERM') { terminate_with t } trap('INT') { terminate_with t } trap('USR1') do say "Wakeup Signal Caught" t.run end end

  • iPhone/Android: How to Send Keystrokes To Laptop Over Wifi?

    - by Cirrostratus
How can I best implement a system for send keystrokes/commands via an iPhone and/or Droid to a desktop or laptop computer via WiFi or bluetooth? There are apps for VLC, Keynote and other applications that do this, so I know it's possible but don't know what technology base to use. The implementation is probably different on Windows and OS X, but if they could be similar that'd be a big win. If VNC-type technology is used, that'd be fine but I only need to send key commands and mouse clicks—I don't need to be able to navigate the screen space.

  • Mercurial - revert back to old version and continue from there

    - by Paolo
I'm using mercurial locally for a project (it's the only repo there's no pushing/pulling to/from anywhere else). To date it's got a linear history. However, the current thing I'm working on I've now realised is a terrible approach and I want to go back to the version before I started it and implement it a different way. I'm a bit confused with the branch / revert / update -C commands in Mercurial. Basically I want to revert to version 38 (currently on 45) and have my next commits have 38 as a parent and carry on from there. I don't care if revisions 39-45 are lost for ever or end up in a dead-end branch of their own. Which command / set of commands do I need?

  • Show last command with up arrow on a linux c shell

    - by nunos
I have implemented a simple linux shell in c. Now, I am adding some features and one I immediately thought about was to be able to show the last commands with the up arrow. Question 1: However, I have no idea how to accomplish this. Do you? Question 2: Any comment on how to store the "history" commands are also appreciated. I suppose something like a queue which allows access to all elements would be a good idea. Am I wrong? Do I have to implement it or is there already some good implementation out there I should know about? Thanks.

  • Realtime Twitter Replies?

    - by ejunker
I have created Twitter bots for many geographic locations. I want to allow users to @-reply to the Twitter bot with commands and then have the bot respond with the results. I would like to have the bot reply to the user as quickly as possible (realtime). Apparently, Twitter used to have an XMPP/Jabber interface that would provide this type of realtime feed of replies but it was shut down. As I see it my options are to use one of the following: REST API This would involve polling every X minutes for each bot. The problem with this is that it is not realtime and each Twitter account would have to be polled. Search API The search API does allow specifying a "-to" parameter in the search and replies to all bots could be aggregated in a search such as "-to bot1 OR -to bot2...". Though if you have hundreds of bots then the search string would get very long and probably exceed the maximum length of a GET request. Streaming API The streaming API looks very promising as it provides realtime results. The API allows you to specify a follow and track parameters. follow is not useful as the bot does not know who will be sending it commands. track allows you to specify keywords to track. This could possibly work by creating a daemon process that connects to the Streaming API and tracks all references to the bot's names. Once again since there are lots of bots to track the length and complexity of the query may be an issue. Another idea would be to track a special hashtag such as #botcommand and then a user could send a command using this syntax @bot1 weather #botcommand. Then by using the Streaming API to track all references to #botcommand would give you a realtime stream of all the commands. Further parsing could then be done to determine which bot to send the command to. Third-party service Are there any third-party companies that have access to the Twitter firehouse and offer realtime data? I haven't investigated these, but here are a few that I have found: Gnip Tweet.IM excla.im TwitterSpy - seems to use polling, not realtime I'm leaning towards using the Streaming API. Is there a better way to get near realtime @-replies for many (hundreds) of Twitter accounts?

  • Best way to parse command line arguments in C#

    - by Paul Stovell
When building console applications that take parameters, you can use the arguments passed to Main(string[] args). In the past I've simply indexed/looped that array and done a few regular expressions to extract the values. However, when the commands get more complicated, the parsing can get pretty ugly. More recently, I built the world's simplest Backus-Naur Form parser in C# to parse the arguments. It does the job, but it also feels like overkill. So I'm interested in: Libraries that you use Patterns that you use Assume the commands always adhere to common standards such as answered here.

  • .NET Process.Start() on an executable on a remote system - security warning?

    - by BrettRobi
I've created a Windows Service that accepts commands from remote machines via WCF. One of those commands is to run a specified executable (let's ignore the security implications of such functionality). In my Service I am using Process.Start() to run the executable. All works well if the executable is local to the machine, but if it is on a remote file share it is failing with no error (or more accurately just hanging). I suspect the problem is that it is triggering the standard Windows 'Unverified Publisher' warning that one would see if they double click an exe on a remote system. Is there any way I can bypass this from my service so that I can truly run any executable? As I said I understand the security implications of allowing it to run any executable, but this is really what I need. I would have thought this warning was only a user mode concept, but it really does seem to be getting in the way of my Service. Ideas?

  • How to use correctly the Query Window in SQL Server 2008

    - by Richard77
Hello, What should I do to avoid that commands be executed each time I hit 'Execute !. icon' I mean this USE master; GO CREATE DATABASE Sales GO USE Sales; GO CREATE TABLE Customers( CustomerID int NOT NULL, LName varchar (50) NOT NULL, FName varchar (50) NULL, Status varchar (10), ModifiedBy varchar (30) NULL ) GO When I click Execute!, Sql Server tries to redo the same thing. What I do for now is to delete the Query Window completely then write what I need before clicking the Execute icon. But, I doubt that I should be doing that. What can I do to keep writing the commands without having each time to clear the Query Window? Thanks for helping

  • How can I check the mysql connection for a user/password using batch/shell script

    - by machaa
Hi, How can I check the mysql connection for a user/password using batch/shell script? I've user name and password, and I need to authenticate whether they are correct or not, but how? I tried this way: I've created a batch file "run.bat" with "mysql -u User--password=UserPassword < commands.sql" "commands.sql" file contains "\q" When I run the file "run.bat" the output is nothing when User/Password are correct and "ERROR 1045 (28000): Access denied for user ... " when User/Password are incorrect. Now can we capture this output, and decide whether the connection is successful or not, if yes how? Regards

  • Command Pattern : How to pass parameters to a command ?

    - by Romain Verdier
My question is related to the command pattern, where we have the following abstraction (C# code) : public interface ICommand { Execute(); } Let's take a simple concrete command, which aims to delete an entity from our application. A Person instance, for example. I'll have a DeletePersonCommand, which implements ICommand. This command needs the Person to delete as a parameter, in order to delete it when Execute method is called. What is the best way to manage parametrized commands ? How to pass parameters to commands, before executing them ?

  • ImageMagick and Grails not working

    - by TripWired
I'm trying to have ImageMagick run from grails to convert some images when I run the command to make an image nothing happens. I get no errors, no information returned nothing at all. I've tried running other commands like touch and ps ux just to see if they work and they all work fine. It just seems like the imagemagick commands are getting lost and I''m not sure what to do. Here is the code I've been working with. String command = CH.config.ImageMagickPath + "/convert -size 40x20 xc:red xc:blue -append -rotate 90 append_rotate.gif" println command command.execute() CH.config.ImageMagickPath is set up to where imagemagick/bin is. I've taken what is shown in println command and run it in a terminal and it works fine. Is there any reason why I can't get IM to work from grails?

  • Remote (RDP) utility with mstscax.dll

    - by dboarman-FissureStudios
I am looking for information on using mstscax.dll in VB. The goal is to create a utility that logs into a remote service in the same manner as remote desktop. However, my utility is not required to show the desktop. I have a series of commands that I will start off with that will look for users, reset logins, shadow, and message. I have been using a batch file on my RDP to perform these functions, but we are already looking for more functionality and power than what the batch commands can offer. I am googling 'mstscax.dll' but the results have been less than satisfactory although I continue to search. Does anyone have any good references? Is this even going to be possible?
