I’m getting the following error when I start Debug from the Eclipse IDE.
Message: “Failed to connect to remote VM. Connection Refused”
What could be the reason?
Hello I am new to Eclipse (and I am a novice in Java): I am creating a project which should make use of some classes from another project. Do I have to export necessarily this last project as JAR file and add in my project? Are there other alternatives?
I setup PyDev with this path for the python interpreter
/System/Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.5/Python
since the one under /usr/bin were alias and Eclipse won't select it. I can run my python script now but cannot run the shell as an external tool. The message I get is
variable references empty selection ${resource_loc}
Same if I use {container_loc}
Any thoughts ?

Is there a possiblity to get or generate a version ID on every GWT compile is performed, from ant Build File or using 'Compile' button Google Eclipse Plugin?
I'm developping a web application in Eclipse and I'm using maven, spring and tomcat.
Now the problem I have is that debug as = debug on server doesn't work.
I just get exceptions. (and yes I've created the server)
If I use the mvn command to compile it, put the war in my tomcat webapps dir and start my tomcat the application works fine. But for the functionallity I'm now working on debugging would be usefull.
Can anyone help me? I am currently using eclipse java ide, and would like a plug-in that will automatically look at my classes and draw up a class diagram in UML.
any suggestions?
You know how, in Eclipse, when you double click on a file tab (which shows the class name), the editor gets expanded to the whole screen minimizing other panels? Well normally I just double click again on the tab to restore everything, but all of the sudden double clicking again doesnt do anything (the editor remains in full screen and all other panels minimized)!
I am not sure what I did to cause this. Any ideas how to get it back to normal? Thanks.
I'm trying to make a game in java, but I'm a bit of a newb. The game has images, and when I run the application from eclipse, they all show up fine. But when I export the project as an application, the images don't show up. When I put the application in the same folder as the images, they show up when I run the application, so someone suggested that I just need to put the image files inside my JAR. Can someone tell me how? Thank you
Which eclipse files is it appropriate to put under source control, aside from the sources obviously. In my project, specifically, I'm wondering about:
.metadata/*
project-dir/.project
project-dir/.classpath
project-dir/.settings/*
If there are any of these for which is depends, please explain your guidelines.
I have some classes in my current project which have the wrong package declaration (they are in the wrong folder for their declared package.)
Unfortunately, fixing the problem by moving the class is not an option. Is there a way I can get eclipse to ignore the error?
In Eclipse, the Java Method Override Indicator is the little upwards arrow next to a method in the Type Hierarchy view.
A solid arrow means a method overrides an existing method lower in the hierarchy.
What does the hollow arrow mean?
Do annotations effect either arrow?
I have a php script that has the following requirement command: require_once 'HTTP/OAuth.php'; the file HTTP/OAuth.php is in php's include_path that is .:/usr/lib/php.
Nevertheless in Eclipse the require_once line is marked with the following warning: Include filename: 'HTTP/OAuth.php' doesn't exist in project:
How can I make my project see the include_path so it can find the require_once file?
Thanks

In Visual Studio with Resharper I can set the project to background build as I type. A red icon on the status bar appears the instance I code something wrong. Green if all is good. It does this by compiling all the time.
Is there a way to enable this in Eclipse?
There´s any eclipse shortcut to stance a new object ?
For example. I would like to type:
Object zzz =
and it would complete for me this way:
Object zzz = new Object();
with void parameter of course.
I will wait answers.. thank you people.
Is there any possible to develop the Iphone App using Eclipse IDE in Windows? Please note Windows platform has any possibility to the Iphone Development? Any Idea?
I have several projects in Perforce that I need to maintain in Eclipse. I did a successful import the first time, but I've since removed all projects from the workspace and deleted the Perforce files from the P4 folder. I'm not very familiar with Perforce so I'm not sure why whenever I try to re-import those projects, all I get is a .project file instead of the whole package.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
I have used file search functionality in eclipse to replace a specific occurrence of text with a replace text which contains a java method name in all files across the workspace.
But now in all those files I have to add the import statement (for the method name to resolve).
Is there an automatic way of doing this instead of manually searching and importing the package myself in all files?
Is it possible to skip a statement in Eclipse while debugging? Suppose the process stopped at breakpoint and I want to skip the breakpoint line ( or maybe a few lines below), can I do it? On the debug tab, it only has "Step into", "Step over" and "Step return" buttons.
I did google around but couldn't find anything, hopefully I can find an answer here.
hey,
iN eclipse, is there any way to view element under . How can I add more elements under types through design view instead of writing code manually? Thanks.
I would like to know about the debugging capabilities of ANT using eclipse. Basically
I have an ANT build script written by a colleague and I wanted to step
through each target to see what are the various tasks that are beings
called.
Sometimes, in Eclipse , i press a combination of keys which take me to the editor page that shows contents of my .class file. I never seem to be able to remember what that key combination is.
Can someone please let me know?
I've found out that my R.java is never updated, so it doesn't contain info about my new resources, so I decided to delete it and thought that Eclipse will generate a new one. But that didn't happen and I don't have R.java now. How can I generate one?
I'm using Win7, if that changes anything.
