  • (SYSLINUX QUESTION) How to launch command prompt once syslinux boots up

    I have created a bootable USB drive using SYSLINUX I am booting my x86 system correctly. Once system boots I want to stop at console (command prompt) where I can type linux commands (cd etc) and run my executable file manually. Does that mean I have to have busy box installed (for basic commands). What makes system stop at command prompt? I do have /dev/console. My serial console is tty1. Any help is appreciated. #syslinux.cfg serial 0 9600 default MyProgram prompt 1 label Linux display message.msg timeout 100 kernel bzImage append console=tty1,9600 vga=773 initrd initrd.img

    I'm new with Rundeck and completely amazed with it and I'm trying to execute a job and my scenario is detailed below: Rundeck is configured with ssh passwordless authentication for user master between node Server (rundeck server) and node Target (remote Solaris host) for user "master" In node Target I want to execute a script /app/acme/stopApp.sh with a user appmanager Normally and manually, when I need to run script above I proceed with ssh master@server sudo su - appmanager or simply ssh -t master@server 'sudo su - appmanager' works without password and finally run (as appmanager) /app/acme/stopApp.sh But I'm not sure how can I reproduce these steps using Rundeck. I read in some previous messages that for each job line rundeck use a new ssh connection, so the workflow below always fails for me with the messages: sudo: no tty present and no askpass program specified Remote command failed with exit status 1 Please someone could help me with some information to solve this issue. Without this functionality I wouldn't be able to introduce a little DevOps in my department. I read the user guide and admin guide but I couldn't find an easy example, neither in this forum, to follow.

  • sqlcmd won't execute - Claims Native Client not installed properly

    I'm trying to use sqlcmd to execute some SQL scripts. Using a test command with a simple query like: sqlcmd -S HOSTNAME -d MYDATABASE -Q 'SELECT Names FROM Customers' sqlcmd does not appear to make any attempt to connect to the server as it displays this message: Sqlcmd: Error: Connection failure. SQL Native Client is not installed correctly. To correct this, run SQL Server Setup. The native client was presumably installed as part of the SQL Server setup and likely correctly. I actually get this message on any machine with SQL server installed trying to use sqlcmd so it's not a matter of the installation being corrupt. Unfortunately the message really tells me nothing about the problem so I don't know what the real issue is. I know the SQL Native client is working properly since a vbscript was able to execute SQL queries against the database. Is there some additional configuration needed to use sqlcmd?

  • Usage of putty in command line from Hudson

    Hi, I'm trying to use putty in command line from an hudson job. The command is the following one: putty -ssh -2 -P 22 USERNAME@SERVER_ADDR -pw PASS -m command.txt Where 'command.txt' is a shell script to execute in the server through SSH. If i launch this command from the Window command prompt, it works, the shell script is executed on the server machine. If i launch a build of the hudson job configured with this batch command, it doesn't work. The build is running... and running... and running.. without doing anything, and i have to stop it manually. So my question is: Is it possible to launch an external programm (i.e. putty) from an hudson job ? ps: i tried SSH plugin but... not a really good plugin (pre/post build, fail status of the commands launched not caught by hudson, etc.) Thanks in advance for your help.   • Where does Rundesk execute local tasks from

    I'm trying to interact with the nodejs Azure sdk from a CentOS installation of Rundeck. If I try from the "run" adhoc virtual shell, I am able to after running azure account import <mykey> and can then also execute other Azure commands inside of jobs if I set them as Rundeck node tasks and not selecting "dispatch to nodes" in the job settings. Trying to run the Azure sdk commands as commands to be dispatched to the node (local) fails with the error: localhost1-NodeDispatch-localexec 04:53:04 /usr/bin/env: node: No such file or directory 04:53:04 Failed: NonZeroResultCode: Result code was 127 I am not able to "jumpstart" the same environment by running azure account import <mykey> I am assuming this is a permissions/environmental issue, though not sure how to fix it. UPDATE: Executing whoami from the same job returns rundeck, so I assume I will need to either modify that to execute tasks as my system user or grant permissions to get the rundeck user into the node environment the Azure sdk is running in?

  • How to automatically execute a shell script when logging into Ubuntu

    How do I get a script to execute automatically when I log in? Not when the machine starts up, and not for all users, but only when I (or any specific user with the script) login via the GNOME UI. From reading elsewhere I thought it was .bash_profile in my home directory, but for me it has no effect. When I manually execute it in a terminal window by typing ~/.bash_profile it works, but it won't run automatically when I log in. I'm running Ubuntu 11.04. The file permission on my .bash_profile is -rwx------. No .bash_profile existed in my home directory before I created it today. I seem to remember older versions of Linux having a .profile file for each user, but that doesn't work either. How is it done? Do I need to configure something else to get the .bash_profile to work? Or does the per-user login script need to be in some other file?

  • SQL Server 2008 R2 Replication log reader could not execute sp_replcmds

    This log reader agent worked perfectly for several months until the user referenced in the error was removed from the domain. After that time the error 'The process could not execute 'sp_replcmds' on 'SERVER'' was received with more detail 'Could not obtain information about Windows NT group/user' that referenced said user. This user was referenced nowhere in the the log reader agent other than the Publication Access List from which it was subsequenctly removed. The agent would still not successfully start up. The simple problem here, I believe, is that the log reader agent was created under that user and that no longer exists in the domain. Is there an 'owner' somewhere that needs to be changed? Every other function on the database continues to execute successfully. Any other help or thought would be appreciated.

I am not sure how I can add a entry to Group ploicy by C++ code. Again , group policy doesn't work with Win Vista. Any other better approach ?

    I'm having some problem with my centOS machine.I want to insert a line inside the rc.local to execute apache tomcat on startup. Below are the configuration for /etc/rc.local #!/bin/sh # # This script will be executed *after* all the other init scripts. # You can put your own initialization stuff in here if you don't # want to do the full Sys V style init stuff. touch /var/lock/subsys/local /opt/apache-jakarta/bin/startup.sh Unfortunately,the apache tomcat does not start on the boot time. I've already execute the script manually and it is working without any issues. Is there any specific syntax to put script inside the rc.local?Or did I forgetting something?Please Advice.Thanks.     I would like to install my python application as a command line tool that should work entirelly inside the install directory (for example C:\Python26\Lib\site-packages\application) The problem is I would like to reffer in runtime to the submodules and resources from within the application directory three. If I install the app with [console_scripts] option the default path is the current directory. Is there a elegant way to keep the current execution path of the application to the site-packages directory? Thanks

    I want to generate Entity Framework 4.0 classes from a (legacy) database from a command line, but I have 2 transformations I want: Tables/columns are lowerCamelCase and I want my classes/members to be UpperCamelCase. I want to suffix my classes with "Dto". Any idea how this might be accomplished? I'm a total newbie to EF, but I have a decent understanding of Linq to Sql and was able to accomplish the same task by doing: sqlmetal - dbml - xml mapping file and .cs file.

  • Is there a command-line tool that could tell me if Gzip is really on beyond the Gzip 1 header param?

    Is there a command-line tool that could tell me if Gzip is on? What I'm looking for is something that can say the stream coming from the server is really gzipped even if the header params say Gzip:1 (which it could be falsely placing in the headers). I don't see a switch in curl, or wget, or tcpdump, or anything, but maybe I'm just missing something, or perhaps there is something else that could provide me this bit of information? Any help would be appreciated.
