  • Firefox 17.0.1 ignoring font-weight

    http://iamsinc.com/blog/new-producer-bonus/ For some reason Firefox 17.0.1 on my Windows 7 machine is ignoring the font-weight of the td elements. It should be normal. This works fine in Chrome, IE 7 8, & 9, but not in FF. I have also tested it on an XP machine running 17.0.1 and it works fine. The font-weight should be normal, not bold. In the second box down ($300k level), the font-weight is showing up as bold on Win 7 FF 17.0.1 which pushes the pictures outside of the box. I have even tried reducing the font-weight waaay down and it has not effect on the problematic FF browser Does anybody have a solution or even a work-around? I hate to make the pictures all smaller just to work around this. Thanks!

  • How to use visibilitychange event on Firefox Extensions

    I'm trying to learn how to make a firefox extension. I want to create a toolbar that only shows up on a specific page. I can make the toolbar appear, but then it should become hidden when I open or switch to a new tab, or close the tab with that specific page.   • ASP.NET required field validator firing on focus in Firefox

    I have 2 asp.net textboxes in an update panel. Both textbox controls have some javascript attached to autotab to the next field and to allow only numeric input. When I enter some data into the first field and press enter, focus shifts to the next field and the requiredfieldvalidator of the second field displays its "* required" error message, even though I've just entered the field. This is only happening in Firefox.   • Comet Jetty/Tomcat, having some browser issues with Firefox and Chrome

    I am exploring the use of Comet for a project I am working on. I tried creating a test application first using Tomcat6 and CometProcessor API and then with Jetty7 Continuations. The application is kind of working on both but I am having some issues with the actual display of messages. I used the technique of creating an XMLHttpRequest Connection and keeping it open all the time so the server can continuously push data to all the clients connected whenever it is available. My client side code is something similar to this: function fn(){ var xhr = new XMLHttpRequest(); xhr.onreadystatechange = function(){ if (xhr.readyState==3){ document.getElementById('dv').innerHTML =(xhr.responseText); } if (xhr.readyState==4){ alert ('done'); } } xhr.open("GET", "First", true); xhr.send(null); } I found this thing of using readyState 3 somewhere online. I am facing 2 problems currently: In Firefox this code works perfectly. But if I open a new tab or even a new browser window, it does not make a new connection to the server and nothing shows up on the new tab or window, only the first tab/window gets the display. I used wireshark to check this and its shows only 1 connection even after the 2nd tab is opened. I am unable to understand why this would happen. I have read about the 2 connection limit, but here there is only one connection. Secondly in Chrome, the above code does not work, and the callback is not invoked for readystate of 3, only when the connection is closed by the server i get the output. I would also like to ask which is the best way/framework for doing Comet with Java. I am currently using jQuery on the client side. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks

So when the preferences window is Closed or the "Ok" button is hitted I want to raise an event or an function which updates via DOM my toolbar. So this is the function which is called when the toolbar is loaded.   • Automate the signature of the update.rdf manifest for my firefox extension

    Hello, I'm developing a firefox extension and I'd like to provide automatic update to my beta-testers (who are not tech-savvy). Unfortunately, the update server doesn't provide HTTPS. According to the Extension Developer Guide on signing updates, I have to sign my update.rdf and provide an encoded public key in the install.rdf. There is the McCoy tool to do all of this, but it is an interactive GUI tool and I'd like to automate the extension packaging using an Ant script (as this is part of a much bigger process). I can't find a more precise description of what's happening to sign the update.rdf manifest than below, and McCoy source is an awful lot of javascript. The doc says: The add-on author creates a public/private RSA cryptographic key pair. The public part of the key is DER encoded and then base 64 encoded and added to the add-on's install.rdf as an updateKey entry. (...) Roughly speaking the update information is converted to a string, then hashed using a sha512 hashing algorithm and this hash is signed using the private key. The resultant data is DER encoded then base 64 encoded for inclusion in the update.rdf as an signature entry. I don't know well about DER encoding, but it seems like it needs some parameters. So would anyone know either the full algortihm to sign the update.rdf and install.rdf using a predefined keypair, or a scriptable alternative to McCoy whether a command-line tool like asn1coding will suffise a good/simple developer tutorial on DER encoding

  • Mouse bugginess - SWFObject, Firefox 3 for Mac, and Flash

    I'm pulling my hair out over a problem I'm encountering on Firefox 3.5 & 3.6 on OS X. I'm using SWFobject to embed an AmMap of the US, which has rollover tooltips for various states. The rollovers are working fine in every other browser I've tested, but they're very buggy on FF for Mac--most of the time they don't show up at all, but if I persistently click a state that's supposed to have a hover event, I might catch a glimpse of the tooltip. Here's the code for the SWFObject embed (incidentally, this isn't being done in the document head due to templating reasons).   • CSS menu broken in Firefox (display:table-cell;)

If i turn off "display:table-cell;" style in Firebug and then turn it back on, it fixes that menu node. any ideas? p.s.: i don't want to mess with the menu itself, since it's a part of a DNN Forum 4.4.3. I'd rather fix the CSS to make it show correctly.

    I've been doing front end development for a long time, and I have NEVER come across a bug like this before... Save the following HTML to a file and view it in Firefox (mine is 3.6.3): <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <style type="text/css"> body { font-family: Helvetica, Sans-Serif;} h2 {font-weight: normal;} </style> </head> <body> <h2>Some normal text <strong>some bold text</strong> weird huh?</h2> </body> </html> If you don't want to give it a shot the output is like your cat walked across your keyboard while character map was turned on, except in the strong tags. I feel like this may be a font issue? When I get rid of font-weight: normal it goes back to normal, but I don't want everything to be bolded in my h2... Anyone have any ideas? More importantly, is anyone able to reproduce this?? Thanks.

    Hello. I'm experiencing an odd problem when trying to navigate through a table's rows and cells in a while loop using javascript. I'm using Firefox 3.5.7 on Win7 with Firebug enabled. I have this markup: <table> <tbody> <tr id='firstRow'><td>a</td><td>b</td><td>c</td></tr> <tr><td>a</td><td>b</td><td>c</td></tr> <tr><td>a</td><td>b</td><td>c</td></tr> </tbody> </table> And this javascript: var row = document.getElementById('firstRow'); console.log(row); // Row call 1 while (row) { console.log(row); // Row call 2 row = row.nextSibling; } The problem I'm having is that on the line commented "Row call 1", Firebug is outputting <tr id='firstRow'> as expected. However, in the while loop, Firebug is giving me <tr id='firstRow'> <TextNode textContent="\n"> It is giving me different output for the exact same row, even immediately after the while loop begins executing and nothing else touched the row. For subsequent rows, it of course does not have id='firstRow' as an attribute. The bigger problem this is giving me is that if I'm in the while loop, and I want to access a particular cell of the current row using row.cells[0], Firebug will give me an error that row.cells is undefined. I want to know if someone could shed some light on this situation I am experiencing.

    I'm got a site that has a long list of tweets, and as you scroll down the right column follows you down, showing stats on the tweets. (See it in action at http://www.grapevinegame.com . Click 'memorise', then 'skip' to get to the list page. Works in Safari and Chrome). I'm using jQuery to update the top-margin of the right column, increasing it as I scroll down. It seems to be working fine in webkit-based browsers, but doesn't budge in Firefox.     Hello there, I currently have a issue with firefox, where all other browser behave in the right way - even IE6! What I want to do is redirection to a subpage but leaving a history entry. There are 2 methods of rewriting the url as far as I know: window.location = "some.url"; - redirect to some.url with history entry window.location.replace("some.url"); - redirect without history entry So I have to use the first one and tested in the firebug console everthing works fine. Now there is the kind of strange part of this question: the same statement, that worked fine in the console doesn't in some jQuery callback handler: jQuery("#selector").bind("submit", function() { $.getJSON("some_cool_json", function(response) { var redirect_path = response.path; window.location = redirect_path; }); return false; }); where response_path is set correctly, I checked it!     For a zero-budget (e.g. University) project we need to build a rich web UI for Firefox and iPhone clients. Firm requirement: all technologies to be free and open-source. Nice-to-have: all development to be done in Java/Eclipse. I generally like the Google's AppEngine + GWT combo but this project will require much more interactivity than what's in GWT 2.0. Something along the lines of: http://www.smartclient.com/smartgwt/showcase/. I know trusty plain ol' GWT won't cut it this time. Straight question: is there something that does the sort of thing that SmartGWT does and works really well on Safari/iPhone? I would say the mobile experience is even more important for this project than the desktop one. Optional question: perhaps this is not the best route to go at all? How could we otherwise render a rich UI with such capabilities and interactivity on both screen sizes? Windows, drag-and-drop, advanced tabs, dynamic grids... We don't need to support any other mobile devices. Yet. ;-)

  • Bullets WILL NOT dissapear in firefox

  • Javascript errors on internet explorer with jQuery but working fine on Firefox

  • Javascript/Canvas/Images scaling problem in Firefox

    I have a problem with the context2d's drawImage function. Whenever I scale an image, it gets a dark border of one pixel, which is kind of ugly. That does only happen in Firefox, not in Opera or Webkit. Is this an antialiasing problem? For hours I studied the examples and available documentation without getting rid of it... I couldn't yet try it on another computer so maybe just maybe it's an issue with the graphics hardware/drivers. The function checks to see if a section of the form is blank and shows and error message.
