  • Text Editor For Flash?

    Hi, I work for a company which produces flash websites. The CMS is built in PHP. The client can update the text on the CMS site. Currently it uses a really old, bad, flash text-editor. It needs to be upgraded to something much much better. I need a text editor that will produce 'flash-html' as well as 'valid-html'. Or even something that marks up the text in the way that would allow me to do this. I tried using TinyMCE and ran into problems trying to convert the HTML. Has anyone tried doing this? Can anyone recommend anything or give any tips on how I can do this?

  • Hidding a Flash SWF upon loading

    Hello, I have a question that is probably very simple, but I cannot find an answer here or on Google. I am loading a SWF in an HTML page the following way (using JavaScript): AC_FL_RunContent( "src", "${swf}", .... "type", "application/x-shockwave-flash", "pluginspage", "http://www.adobe.com/go/getflashplayer" ); I have tried to add the line: "style", "visibility: hidden" But it has not worked. I can later on make it visible or hidden using: document.getElementById("flash").style.visibility = "hidden"; But I would like to have the flash invisible and make it visible later on, but by adding a parameter in the AC_FL_RunContent.   • Rails flash hash violation of MVC?

    I know Rails' flash hash is nothing new, but I keep running into the same problem with it. Controllers should be for business logic and db queries, not formatting strings for display to the user. But the flash hash is always set in the controller. This means that I need to hack and work around Rails to use Helpers that I made to format strings for the flash hash. Is this just a pragmatic compromise to MVC or am I missing something here? How do you deal with this problem? Or do you not even see it as one?

  • Flash Projectors for MAC and PC

    I created a flash projector that would be burn in a CD now my problem is that it doesn't open anything when I click on a link to view a pdf. I have search entire web about creating an apple script, fscommand etc... I am a newbie to flash and more specifically to this burn CD cross platform thing. My PDF are in the same root file as the projectors. i was wondering if you can help me out to what fscommand for both PC & Macto be written in flash and an apple script? Thank you

  • flash - django communication -- amf, xml, or json?

    We are considering to develop a Flash front-end to a web application written using Django. The Flash front-end will send a simple "id" to the server and in response receive a couple of objects. The application will be open only to authenticated users. To the extend of my current knowledge (which is basic for Flash) we can either use AMF or take an XML or JSON approach. AMF seems to have an upperhand as there are examples out on the internet showing it can cooperate easily with Django's authentication mechanism (most examples feature pyAMF). On the other hand, implementing a XML/JSON based solution may be easier and hassle free. Guidance will be much appreciated.

    I'm using a flash rotating banner in my website which takes images and descriptions from an XML file. I do changes to my XML very often... but in my local machine, the banner takes a day or two to get updated. Although I can clear my local machine's cache, the problem still remains for other users who visit my web page.. is there a programmatic way in flash or in html to overcome this problem ? Maybe a server configuration? Please help me with this..   • same flash file (.swf) downloaded multiple times on a page

    I have a page that has a table with each row corresponding to an audio file. The last cell in each row embeds a simple flash audio player. The problem is that the flash file for the player is being downloaded for each row separately and as soon as rows go beyond 40-50 it crashes the browser. I tried using different players (1pixelout, flash-mp3-player) and the problem is still there, so its not a player specific issue. Is there any way to cache the player so that it is only downloaded once?

    Hey, I would like to import the Flex class ResultEvent in Flash. This is how I did it: 1. In "Publish Settings/Flash/ActionScrip 3.0 Settings/Library Path" I selected the rpc.swf (from the flex sdk) 2. Then I wrote in my flash-file: import mx.rpc.ResultEvent; But i still get the following error: 1046: Type was not found or was not a compile-time constant: ResultEvent.   • Flex 3 and flash player caching

    hi, i pass text strings from a configuration file into my Flex app, one of the strings i pass in is a mailto link which i use to allow users of my app to send me feedback. I recently needed to change this link however when i updated the link in my config file the change did not happen instantly in my Flex app. In fact i had to clear my cache (both browser and flash player) before the change showed up. This of course is fine for me but how can i be sure that users of the application also get the updated content? Is there a way to force a refresh of data loaded into my swf on other users browsers? Finally is this an issue with my browser cache or the Flash player cache? Does the flash player only keep such data, like my email address, in memory while the app is in use and then clear once it is closed or does it cache this data for the next time the user wants to use the app?   • flash.media.Sound.play takes long time to return

    I'm trying to play some sounds in my flash project through action script. However for some reason in my code the call to Sound.play takes from 40ms to over 100ms in extreme cases, which is obviously more than enough to be very noticeable whenever a sound is played. This happens every time a sound is played, not just when that sound is first played, so I dont think its because the Sound object is still loading data or anything like that... At the start I have this to load the sound: class MyClass { [Embed(source='data/test_snd.mp3')] private var TestSound:Class; private var testSound:Sound;//flash.media.Sound public function MyClass() { testSound = new TestSound(); } Then im just using the play method of the sound object to play it later on. testSound.play();//seems to take a long time to return This as far as I can tell is following the same process as other Flash programs I found, however none of them seem to have this problem. Is there something that I've missed that would cause the play() method to be so slow?

    Hi I have a video playing on my page. I want to show and hide some div's when the video reaches a certain point. Lets say hide something on 10th second and show it again on 20th second. I can easily do it in HTML5 with video tag and currentTime attribute but for IE I have to create the same functionality and I think with flash based videos (from YouTube or something like that). Is there a way to detect the current time of a video playing on my website, embeded from YouTube, Metacafe or any other video sharing site? I know I could detect it in flash and make it run some JavaScript function but I don't have flash nor have the skills to do it in AS3. Is it possible to do it from JavaScript level or does any video sharing website out there provides this kind of functionality for their videos?

    I'd like to play around 3d in Flash and I'm wondering how sophisticated objects can i load from 3D Max... cos as i read it's possible to load something from 3d Max I've read that popular 3d engine is Away3d (many tutorials), so if there is nothing better... i'd like to focus on it. I've forgot to mention that i'm not familar with Flash, but the best way to learn something is to do something interesting with it... :) Main question: Can I load object from 3ds and link parts of this object to some actions in Flash. Better example: I'd like to load a Car and when user click on car's door i'd like to show some informations, about those door, or pass this event outside for example to any other application in PHP, Java etc... and when he click on car mask i'd like to raise other event... I've tried some web searches but couldn't find much; any pointers on the following would be great: Does the standard browser Flash 10 plugin contain everything needed for P2P video conferencing, or is server support needed?     I have a MacBook Pro (MacBookPro5,2 / 2.8 GHz) with 4 GB of ram (2x2GB). I'm looking to upgrade to 8GB. The memory in it now is DDR3 PC3-8500 1067. Checking out prices for 4 GB sticks of PC3-8500 there is about $100 difference for "apple certified" ram. Will any DDR3 PC3-8500 module work or is there really a difference?

    Doing copy/paste in Visual Studio 2010 RTM on Windows 7, 3GB ram machine, I was unable to copy text because of an error: Task Manager shows that devenv.exe is using a little more than 500MB. However I still have almost 1GB of free RAM available. Is that somekind of memory cap? If so, is there a way to increase it? It may be a bug, but maybe there is a workaround?
