  • Flash Yahoo Maps has stopped working?

    In the past week it appears that Yahoo has changed their crossdomain file to only accept Yahoo domains (http://maps.yahooapis.com/crossdomain.xml): This is causing my applications that use Yahoo Maps to stop working (i.e. security exception). I cannot proxy the calls to Yahoo because the URL is embedded in the MXP file that Yahoo distributes. Does anyone know if there's a workaround or update to this?

    Hello, I have an iPhone app that loads the following URL: http://maps.google.com?q=Apple Stores&ll=37.331689,-122.030731&z=3 As expected, the google maps app loads on the phone, but zooms to the entire US. It does not appear to be respecting the z= parameter, or at least, not allowing a zoom level that shows stores in the area.

    After looking up the advantages and disadvantages of using Google's AJAX Libraries API instead of using jQuery locally, I saw that someone wrote in an answer (here on Stack Overflow, of course) that it's possible to get around the downtime that Google's API sometimes experiences by somehow falling back to a local copy of the library you use. I want to use Google's AJAX Libraries API on my site, but I'm concerned about this possible downtime and I'm curious how such a fallback procedure can be implemented. Has anybody ever tried doing this? Can you point me towards some code that accomplishes such a feat? Thanks in advance.

  • Using key().id() on GAE Datastore and reverse geocoding

    I have 6000 data of district, subdistrict. I need to represent this on dependent dropdown. The datamodel is for example; class Location(db.Model): location_name = db.StringProperty() location_parent = db.IntegerProperty() location_parent is reference to key() or id()? Still cannot decide which one is good. When i use key() as reference then using JSON to create jquery dependent drop down. My page loading/query and rendering time the dropdown is quite slow? Can i use key().id() as drop down option value to lighten up the page load? Any better solution for this parent/child reference for the drop down? For example: for the district record/entities the location-parent is null, for sub district record location_name will contain reference to parent district record. Other issue is to reverse geocoding the location to store or display geoPoint (lat,long)? Is google MAP API always find the exact lat,long of specific region boundaries or any error checking for the result?

  • Detecting first time login of user into application (Google Appengine)

    My app requires users to login using their google account. I have this set in my App.yamp file: url: /user/.* script: user.py login: required Now when any user tries to access files under /user/secret.py he will need to authenticate via google, which will redirect the user back to /user/secret.py after successful authentication. Now the problem I am facing is when the user is redirected back to the app, I cannot be sure if this is the first time the user has logged in or is it a regular user to my site who has come back again from just the user object which google passes using users.get_current_user() . I thus need to maintain state in the datastore to check if the user already exists or not everytime. If he does not exist i need to create a new entry with other application specific settings. My question is: Is there some easier way to handle this? without having to query the datastore to figure if this is a first time user or a regular one?

    I'm using the Picasa Web Albums Data API to access users' photo albums from a WPF application. I've followed the code located here: http://code.google.com/apis/gdata/clientlogin.html I have created a Picasa Web Albums account with a Google Apps (hosted) account. Whenever I tried logging in with my WPF application, I get the "BadAuthentication" error code returned. Hoping someone has an idea what I'm doing wrong. Note, that this works when I login with a normal Google account.     I'm using Google Translation API to translate text from Chinese Simplified to English in my C# program. The problem is if the text is small (around one line) the API is able to translate it, but if the text is larger (more than 3 lines) is gives an exception saying "The remote server returned an unexpected response: (414) Request-URI Too Large.". However if I use translate.google.com in my browser that works fine. Please tell me how can I process large documents using Google Translate API in my desktop application written in C#.

    We've had some good experiences building an app on Google App Engine, this first app's target audience are Google Apps users, so no issues there in terms of it being hosted on Google infrastructure. We like it so much that we would like to investigate using it for a another app, however this next project is for a client who is not really that interested in what technology it sits on, they just want it to work, and work all of the time. In this scenario, given that we have the technology applicability and capability side covered, are there any concerns that this stuff is still relatively new and that we may not be as much "in control" as if we had it done with traditional hosting?

    i have such problem that jQuery onclick event dont see click on link inside google map in infowindow. Thats how my infowindow link looks like: <a href="http://example.com/#ui-accordion-accordion-header-7" class="pull-right move-to-acc" id="itemH">See Details</a> Under map i have acordion list with detailed information about point so im trying to catch click on that link : jQuery("#itemH").click(function(event){ alert("qq"); }); When i click on marker infowindow open and i click on link but alert dont show up - im just moved to div #ui-accordion-accordion-header-7 What im doing wrong ?     Hi, I have some trouble testing my Android application which includes the google maps API. The ooficial API example worked just fine but if I copy the code into my own project it keeps saying: "The application has stopped unexpectedly". I looked up the key in the keystore several times and registered it with google. Even tried reinstalling the SDK. Does anybody know what the problem is?
